when it uses the word lesbian, it's always to disparage us and tell us how we are awful and horrible man haters for not having men in our sexuality, and how we are actually all butches are just trans men and all lesbians have a secret attraction to men!! Attraction to men is natural!! There's no such thing as a sexuality that excludes men, and to say there is is just manhating!! Lesbianism is when you "fuck girls", it's not any deeper than that!!
But the word dyke (mind, a word that is still used as a slur by heterosexual society), is the only word it can ever use to describe lesbians in a "positive" light. It's always dykes this and dykes that. Dyke dyke dyke. To non lesbians, dyke is the perfect word of objectification. We are not lesbians with history, with community, with an attraction to women and enben who are not men, with multifaceted lives and love, with a lacy of attraction to men and enben who are men. Instead we are sexual dykes. Dyke dyke dykety dyke. That's all we are if we are "good dykes" who are attracted to men. If we are "bad," then we are LESBIANS who are MAN HATERS for not being attracted to men (nonbinary, cis or trans, it doesn't really matter anymore. "We just can't believe the lesbian isn't attracted to men! How evil!")
This is just ignoring the fact that it chooses to demonise lesbians to ignore the bisexual separatist movement. It's almost like bisexuals want to be bisexual, and are still struggling with accepting bisexuality as people still see it as a "lesser" sexuality. People see transmasculinity as a lower form of masculinity compared to cisgender masculinity. So instead of uplifting trans men as heterosexual men, they are seen as ex women all of the time. Ex woman, ex lesbian which somehow still means a lesbian.
I hate the lens that is thrown on lesbian sexuality all the time. In a binarist patriarchal society, the only sexuality that doesn't cater to men is used as an excuse to be transphobic. Lawmakers who have done everything to ban lesbian culture are now using us as an excuse to deny trans women their womanhood. Trans men are seen as ex women so much more than men, to the point where cis lesbians on average would date a trans man more than a trans woman. This isn't even to speak of the exorsexism and the binarisation of enben into manhood because some of us are masculine. Terfism is a real problem in the cisgender gay/bi community as a whole, but lesbian nonattraction to men predates this. And then instead of seeing support and joy for our lack of attraction to men in the queer community, we are just told we should like men, that we are men, that we are wrong for not including men. It is so fucked.
Lesbian is seen as such a dirty word, inside and outside the queer community. It's a porn word or a manhater word or a terf word or a word for bad people. Lesbian is a word for Bad People. Dyke is perfect though. It's a great slur to hurl at the little girl who plays football, or the woman who held the hand of her girlfriend or the enban who got their hair cut short to embrace their femme identity or the enby who knows xey are not attracted to men. Dyke dykety dyke dyke dyke. It's always dyke isn't it? Really reminds you of why it's still a slur, even though we are reclaiming it as lesbians.
Do you know how it felt to feel so broken for not liking men, how much harder it was to accept not liking men than it was to accept loving women, how much like a person it feels to be in a community where you are surrounded by people who also know what it's like? To live in a Man's World, and not be a man or anything like a man, and not being attracted to men or anything like men? It was beautiful and exhilarating.
But everyone treats you like an object. Lesbian is a dirty word to them, but dyke is a perfect slur to hurl at a lesbo, a perfect way to distance yourself from your lesbophobia. Dyke dykety dyke. Let's even put it in the name.
Genderqueerdykes is not the first. This is a history of the lesbian in binary patriarchal cisheterosexual society. And don't get me started on what it's like to be black in this society on top of lesbian, something else it tried to """understand"""...
