what a surprise // xaspen

Xavier finished putting their luggage into his truck. Not actually realizing how much of a girl Aspen was until she had packed a bunch of bags filled with clothes and what not. After making sure everything was set, he quickly walked back into Aspen’s not very empty summer home and started looking for his small and beautiful fiancé. A smile tugged on his lips at the thought of her being his wife. Part of him knew they had rushed into it, but that was not important to him now. What really was, was him meeting her parents. Xavier wasn’t used to having a girl taking him home to meet the family and he was very nervous as to what they would think of him. He already had a somewhat understanding of how her mother was and to say she didn’t sound the nicest really made him nervous. Walking into the kitchen, Xavier noticed Aspen was by the island and his arms wrapped around her waist from behind and he peppered small kisses on the side of her neck. “I think we should go now before we miss our flight.” He mumbled into her neck.
Aspen had a million little butterflies zooming around in her stomach. So much was happening- all of it good, but all of it being major changes. First of all, Xavier Bentley was her fiancé. She had to take a deep breath at the thought of it. Also, he was coming to meet her parents back home in Italy. Her entire family was large, loud, and obnoxious- all things Xavier was not. Okay, maybe a little obnoxious, but not as much as her family. Suddenly, his long arms were wound around her waist and his full lips were pressing against her neck. Aspen turned around to face him, her arms reaching up to wrap around his neck. The tiny brunette had to roll on her tiptoes to even properly reach his shoulders. "Are you sure about this? Do you really want to meet my family," Aspen questioned, cocking an eyebrow. "They'll seem kind of weird at first, but you'll grow to love them. I promise. Just don't hook up with my sister and all will be good."

"I’m not joking, I’m serious. I want you to be mine for the rest of my life a-and I want to be yours," he walked closer to her. "For fucks sake Aspen; I want to wake up by your side every morning. I want to make you breakfast. I want us to buy a house together, move in. I want to start a family with you. Aspen i want to die an old man by your side because I love you so much and the thought of losing you just makes me want to lose my shit because I can’t imagine myself being with anybody else." Xavier let out a long breath, cupping her cheeks in his hands. "I want to be your husband. I want you to be Mrs. Aspen Bentley," Xavier leaned his forehead against hers."Marry me. Please?" he mumbled, their noses brushing as his gaze bored into hers, green to brown as he waited for her reply.
Aspen listened to him speak, her eyes wide and curious. She felt dizzy in the absolute best way. Her small hands rested on his chest as his forehead rested against hers. "Of course I'll marry you," she breathed, a big smile overcoming her face. Aspen's hands ran up his chest before gently cupping his face, pulling him down to press her lips against his. Aspen couldn't believe what had just happened. Xavier had just proposed to her after only 4 months of even knowing her. The Italian girl had no idea how long it usually took for couples to become engaged, but everything happened quicker for them. They began dating quicker, fell in love quicker, and now became engaged quicker than usual. But that was them and Aspen loved every second of it. Swiftly, she pulled from the kiss, her soft hands still cradling his face. "Being married also means that you can't wink at groups of girls when I'm not looking, Xav," she reminded him, with a smirk. Aspen knew none of it was serious, but she did not want to share.
Then her lips pulled up in a full grin, her eyes lighting up. "Should I book a flight back to Italy for two, then? Because you have to meet my family before we ever get married," she spoke, chewing the inside of her cheek. Aspen knew how loud and obnoxious her family was and she was slightly nervous about their first encounter with her boyfrien- fiance.

Xavier clenched his jaw as she pulled away from. He wanted to smile back, but he couldn’t. This wasn’t the happiest goodbye. But then again no goodbyes were happy. What was it with people just walking out on Xavier? First hiss father, now Aspen? How could someone possibly claim to love another and then just walk out? That didn’t add up in Xavier’s head. It never would.
But he wasn’t going to let it happen again. Xavier wasn’t going to let her go that easily. “Marry me,” he blurted out, not even thinking about the two words that had just slipped out of his mouth.
Aspen immediately stopped in her tracks. Her heart was pounding in her chest and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. Slowly, she turned to face him, her jaw slightly dropped. Then she quickly stomped over to where he was standing, her heels clicking swiftly against the wood floors in his home. "Xavier, marriage isn't something to joke or kid about," she breathed, staring him in the eye. "And it's not flexible. You can't have the totally free life that you live now," Aspen mumbled, her heart still pounding. He had asked her to marry him... kind of.
"Do you really think that you're ready for marriage? To marry me? This will put a totally different label on everything. I won't just be another girlfriend you can drop if you happen to get bored," she rambled. Aspen took a deep breath and ran her hands through her hair. The petite Italian began pacing his bedroom, the sound of her heels on the wood echoing in the room. "I mean, I'll be your wife. And... You'll be my husband. Do you want to be a husband?"

Sadly, Xavier knew what she was saying was true. Even he himself knew that his schedule would end up getting busy again and there wouldn’t be anymore ‘Xaspen time’. He leaned in to her touch as her lips met his cheek. Yup he was definitely going to miss this. He scoffed, “I want a girlfriend. Baby, I want you.” If this was truly the end of their relationship, Xavier just knew he would have a hard time getting over the Italian girl who had just walked in to his life and had him fall head over heels. Xavier just stared at her as he watched her fidget with her curly hair in the mirror that was prepped against the wall. Times like this when he would ask himself how he had gotten so lucky. But then he remembered that the girl in front of him wouldn’t be his in a couple of minutes. Xavier stood silently, not wanting to answer her question.
His arms wrapped against her waist, his face nuzzling into her hair. “I love you more, Aspen Russo. So much more, you don’t even know,” he mumbled, hoping that she wouldn’t hear his voice crack as he spoke.
"I want you too, baby. More than anyone," she mumbled. It was quiet for a few minutes as she stood with him at their natural heights, her head barely even reaching his shoulder. But eventually she realized that the longer she stood there, the more painful it would get to leave. Her small hands cupped his face, staring into his sad eyes. "I will always love you. You will always have the biggest and prettiest place in my heart, Xavier Bentley," Aspen promised, forcing a smile. Slowly, she pulled herself out of his hold, reaching down and slipping her heels on. Aspen picked up her phone off the bed and stuffed it into her back pocket.
And with that, Aspen walked out of his room. She walked out of the best thing that has ever happened to her. Just because she didn't want to disappoint her Mother. The petite brunette could love that boy all she wants, but in her parents' eyes, that does not win her a gold medal. And it never would.

A sigh left his lips, his hand tightening against hers as she spoke. Xavier didn’t want her to leave, for gods sakes just the thought of not being able to see his love for who knows how long made a very uncomfortable feeling bubble up in his stomach and his throat tighten. Aspen had made such an impact on him. The Xavier Bentley that had arrived in Monte Carlo four months ago was now long gone and replaced with this love -struck-twenty-something-year -old with a beautiful brunette on his arm instead of a drunk blond. And that was something he truly proud about. “I know I just… I don’t want you to go,” he whispered, running his fingers through her curly hair. Something he had grown to love over the past few months.
But he understood. He knew all this would come to an end somehow but he had not planned it to end this soon. Suddenly, his upset demeanor was replaced with anger and he scoffed, rolling his eyes. “You know damn well we can’t be just ‘friends’ Aspen, damnit.” Xavier got up, slipping on his boxers that were laying around the foot of the bed, throwing on some sweats that were on the small couch in the corner of the room. “Do you really just want us to be friends? Honestly.” The boy ran his fingers over his face, a distressed sigh leaving his lips. “Baby…,” he walked over to her side of the bed, taking her small, dainty hands into his large ones. “We can make this work. If we love each other as much as we do, we can.” Xavier kissed her knuckles, “I don’t want to leave you,” he spoke, his voices laced with raw sincerity.
Aspen watched as Xavier got up and pulled some clothes on, angrily grumbling as he did. Aspen reached over the end of the bed, picking up her bra and panties and tugging them onto her body but not moving from the bed. "Xavier, I know that you have never trained to be an Olympian before. But it is an almost 24/7 thing. I get breaks to eat and sleep. There's no 'go call or visit your boyfriend' time," she explained as he kneeled in front of her. Aspen reached one hand up to run through his messy morning hair, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to his cheek. "It would be as if you have no girlfriend at all. And you deserve better than that," Aspen murmured, looking into his big green eyes. Her chest hurt and her eyes felt a little watery but she was not going to cry. Carefully, the brunette stood up and moved around her boyfriend. "I have to go pack and book a flight home," Aspen mumbled, pulling her pants on.
"And no, I don't think we can be just 'friends', Xavier. But what other option do we have?" Aspen exhaled a large breath before tugging her shirt on an over her head. Slowly, she padded over to his full-length mirror and tried to fix the monster that was her hair in the morning. After a few minutes of messing with it, Aspen gave up and walked over to the taller boy, burying her face in his chest and listening to his heartbeat. "Hey, I love you," she whispered.

Xavier lay on the comfortable white satin sheets of his bed, an arm draped over his small girls stomach as his lips were set into a pout, Xavier’s body tired from their bedroom activities the night before. Mumbling in his sleep, Xavier cuddled more into her side when he heard the annoying ringtone go off, the loud sound echoing through the silent room. Not pleased, the hazy green eyes boy propped himself up on his elbows, rubbing his eyes lazily, wanting nothing more than to go back to sleep with Aspen by his side.
Not one word was understood as he heard Aspen quietly speaking into the phone, quite quickly if he may. Xavier fell back into the warmth or the comforter, waiting for her to slide back into his arms and for their lazy day to begin. Lips quirking up into a small, lazy smile, Xavier hummed as he felt her hands on his chest but the smile was quick to be wiped off his face as he heard her speak. “What do you mean? Didn’t you go visit them like a month ago or something,” he frowned, looking into her brown eyes as he intertwined their fingers on his chest.
Aspen laced her fingers with his, sucking her lower lip into her mouth. "This would be a lot more than a visit, Xavier. I promised my Mom that I would come back after the summer was over," she explained, her voice weaker than usual. Carefully, Aspen laid down beside Xavier, nuzzling into his side under the sheets. "I have to go back and train for the 2016 Olympics. I can't stay here forever," Aspen mumbled. It was quiet for a moment, which Aspen understood. Neither of them had really considered that they would need to return to their normal lives. It had always been at the back of her mind, but so much had happened with Xavier that she didn't have enough time to worry about it. The tiny Italian pressed gentle kisses on the side of his neck.
"I need to be home in the next few days," Aspen sighed, looking anywhere but the boy beside her. Then the thought dawned on her that this relationship will never work with their entirely different careers. With all the training she does for each Summer Olympics, Aspen has absolutely no time at all for a boyfriend. And she was sure that as Xavier traveled the world, modeling for all sorts of companies, that it would be a struggle for him to stay loyal to a girlfriend that wasn't even there. Plus, Aspen would always be a worried mess about who he was with and what women were there. "We can... We can, uh, be friends?"

The Monte Carlo sun shined brightly through the window at Xavier's house, peeking through the windows and illuminating his bedroom. Aspen was sleeping peacefully, his white sheets covering her naked and tanned body. Her long, light brown curls were messily strewn out on the fluffy pillows, her full lips parted slightly as air entered and left her. Right next to her laid Xavier, her naked and incredibly attractive boyfriend, also sleeping soundly. Neither of them knew that the serenity would be broken by the loud ringing of Aspen's phone in her black skinny jeans that had been tossed the night before. Once the default 'Marimba' tone began going off, Aspen quickly sat up in bed. The tiny brunette rubbed her eyes and pulled herself from the nice bed, padding over to the cellphone and fishing around in her pockets for it. Immediately, Aspen's eyebrows furrowed at her Mother's caller ID popping up but she answered the phone.
"Ciao?"
"Così, quando vieni a casa, bambino? È necessario iniziare l'allenamento per le Olimpiadi, Aspen."
All the air left her lungs, Aspen's small hand reaching up to comb through her bed head. The Italian girl knew that her Mother said she had the summer, but she did not expect the end to come so quickly. The entire summer had gone by so quickly and Aspen wanted it all back.
"Ti chiamo di nuovo, mamma. Ho avuto modo di prendersi cura di qualcosa prima di partire."
Quickly, she ended the call and walked over to her side of the bed, crawling back on and sitting beside him. Her small hand trailed up the tattoos of his chest and gently touched along his sharp jawline. "Baby, I have to leave," Aspen mumbled, chewing on her lip. Knowing her Mother, she wanted Aspen back either tomorrow or the day after. It was not going to be a slow matter.
It’s declared, my biggest pet peeve is when people sound like broken records, repeating the same thing over and over again.
What do you mean by that, exactly? 'Cause I've never heard anybody do that before.

She's a little black toy poodle named Honey. And I'm kind of in love with her. Then my other one, Rosemary is a mixed breed.
