So, I played Chapter 5 of Deltarune and wanted to say a few words. Spoilers ahead!
I guess I just need to vent. Nobody in my immediate circle knows anything about Deltarune, so I have to write here, even if I'm just talking to myself, hahaha.
Results:
The last fun adventure. And that's what it was! I had a blast. Yes, the plot wasn't explored as much as in the previous game update. But I'd still like to point out some key points (what I remembered):
At the very beginning of the chapter, you can see that Kris has returned from somewhere again. You can also see that they can't live long without the SOUL.
The nature of the Shadow Crystals is "Failed dreams." (A bit of a vague concept, but still.)
There was something between Dess and Asriel.
Sans and the drawing with the caption "Don't Forget." (And also the presence of this event on both routes.)
Onionsan is possibly dead. (I hope not!)
Something terrible is going to happen in Chapter 6. Flowery's words about something terrible lurking beneath the city, as well as the appearance of all three of Gaster's followers at the festival.
Rudy fell down. I really hope he's alive. I adore that character.
Asgore's awareness of the Dark Worlds.
Ralsei CAN use fire magic, he just hid it from us.
The incident involving Dess's disappearance involved the appearance of the first Dark Fountain. (But we never learned what that incident was that ruined the lives of two families.) (The RK kidnapped Dess?)
The Roaring Knight kidnaps Asgore. (I hope my king is alive.❤️)
What I liked:
The Flowers. Yes, it was obvious they would become Darkners, but they are something different, something unique. Living beings without SOULS. I absolutely loved each one (each with its own personality, plus the representation of SOULS and items from Undertale). I especially loved the relationship between Yellow and Blue—they are so cute. ❤️
And of course, Flowery. (My first thought: is he representation of Asriel?!) (My second thought was that his name was like the fan-made secret boss Flowery (Bep’s character). - At first, yes, he annoyed me (but only because I was on Ralsei's side and supported him, haha). But I loved every time he appeared. And at the very end, the battle with him really made me sweat. The fact that he can't be defeated through the fight is quite interesting. + The new, long-awaited Orange SOUL with the dash ability, which has been noted in many fan ideas. - His sincere desire to take care of Asgore, and how closing their Fountain is unfair, compared to the Castle Town's Fountain (after all, flowers can't be transported to Castle Town because they need care). And the way he rushed to save Asgore, knowing he could die... In short, by the end, he became a real human for me ❤️. And I adore him as much as the characters from previous chapters.
New mechanics. Game It took the game to a whole new level. The ability to change your playstyle right within the game, and the secret boss battle is the ultimate experience. My favorite moment is when we're running across the castle rooftop, listening to the delightful track "Running Sky," and the Flowers attack us—just wow. Honestly, I tear up every time I remember that moment.
Music. Do I need to explain it? Toby Fox once again amazed me with his talent for transforming existing themes into something new. Favorite tracks: "Running Sky," "Flower Man," "Flower King," "Festival," "Cutie Meow Meow Magic," the "Scarlet Forest" cover, and "Quiet Glade" They really stuck with me.
What confused me:
(If I'd written this paragraph right after finishing the game, I would have called it "What I didn't like," but now I see things differently.)
Secret boss. No, Meow Meow is amazing, I love her. And her fight and Purple SOUL mode are something else! But for the final secret boss... Honestly, I expected something more lore-wise. Yes, it reflects the relationship between Kris and SOUL (us), but still... (Especially those hints from Seam about the armor at the beginning of the chapter. Where is FRIEND?).
Susie and Noelle's relationship. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them. It seemed really cute in Chapters 2 and 4. My main complaint is that their relationship developed too quickly (although I don't understand how first love works in teenagers. I literally don't know what that is, lol). Susie didn't show the same interest in Noelle in Chapter 4 as she started to in Chapter 5. I thought she only called Noelle to piss off Carol. (At least that's what it seemed like). After all, for Susie, the most important thing was getting the code and saving the world. What was wrong with me? What surprised me (and maybe even pissed me off for a moment) was Susie's comment about how much time she spent with Noelle over those four days. Really? She spent most of that time with Kris and Ralsei. She only started talking to Noelle after Chapter 2. I just felt bad for Kris. I guess I'm on Krusie's side, haha.
Asgore. My favorite Undertale character. My king. I'm glad he's alive (I hope), as I was afraid he might die by the end of Chapter 5. But I felt he wasn't fleshed out enough. Even in Undertale, we spend the least time with him... - The moment when he pushes Susie and Kris out of the Dark World and closes the door gave me goosebumps. But I didn't see his full power on display. If teenage lightners are so strong, what are adult lightners like? Of course, he wouldn't fight his child (you can see his worry for Kris after the battle with Flowery), but a battle with the Roaring Knight... that would have been nice. And, of course, the music. "Flower King" certainly captures the gravity of the moment perfectly. But I'd like to hear the full track.
And finally. The Forgotten Man. Every time I spotted ears of wheat, I'd start pacing back and forth to trigger the event. It turns out you just need to move on. Mirroring the Chapter 5 location with the Chapter 1 location helped me with that. But... nothing became clearer. Maybe we'll learn more later, but... there are only two chapters left...?
Now about the Weird Route.
A standing ovation. I never even thought Deltarune could be turned into something LIKE THIS. Yes, it's short, but... wow... believe me, it's better to experience it yourself.
Theories?
”Chapter 5- the field of pink and gold. The vast garden is charred in an inferno of jealousy.” As I understand it, they were talking about Ralsei and the fact that he was supposed to burn everything around him according to the prophecy. But he wanted to avoid that, which is why he hid his magic. And overall, I think we succeeded? Perhaps we changed fate? It’s unclear...Or maybe it was a metaphor.
FRIEND is growing stronger. From a brief appearance in Chapter 2 to dealing damage in Chapter 5. I can't wait to see them again.
Deltarune tomorrow!
The best TV host, Mr. (Ant) Tenna, is here today!
I was afraid until the very last minute that I wouldn't get it before Chapter 5, but it looks like Fate is in my favor. Just waiting for the card folk cards :P
See you after Chapter 5!
Congratulations to everyone on the announcement of Chapter 5!
Of course, a year of waiting is nothing compared to how long we waited for Chapters 3 and 4, but nevertheless, the joy I felt was just as intense.

My thoughts. The design of the Dark World was unexpected. Judging by the area with the giant stem and the enemies, the Dark Fountain will open in Asgore's shop. But why it has a Japanese theme is a mystery to me. Just like why our trio is looking at the sun at the end of the trailer.
-------------------------------------------------------
Or that Omega Flowey attack. I think it's a cyan flower attack, but definitely not a secret boss. Toby has never shown secret bosses in trailers before. Plus, I saw someone's post on Reddit with the water cooler's dialogue about a blue elegant flower (the Soul of Integrity in Undertale, whose items were ballet shoes and a tutu). So, flower characters will definitely be there.
Unless we're facing multiple secret bosses, or a secret boss that combines flower attacks.
-------------------------------------------------------
That's why I love Toby Fox. You never know what the next chapter will hold.
After the first chapter, we thought Kris would unleash a slaughter. After the second, a bunch of crazy secret bosses appeared, and we weren't expecting Titans until chapters 6-7. And no one expected Asgore's Dark World to have a Japanese theme. (Although I did see something similar in Glazko's game.)
-------------------------------------------------------
So, there's not much time left. Two weeks will fly by, and we'll meet up with our friends again. For one last laugh before something terrible happens.
Btw, I drew the new enemy from the trailer. Judging by the different shades of green on their arm, it looks like it's made of vines.
Sheriff Lumber and Bulls-I
Toby Fox's recent post has piqued my interest in "Friend Inside Me" theory and "Toy Story" even further. I present to you my take on the secret boss for Chapter 3. (I know I'm about nine months late, but, hey, why not.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meet Sheriff Lumber Honor, or simply Lumber! And his indispensable companion, Bulls-I.
They are former stars of the children's TV show "Sheriff Lumber's Wild West." Shortly before filming began on the new crossover show, Lumber was, according to the "official version," fired, and neither he nor his friend have been seen since.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Backstory
This Dark World is entirely a massive television studio, divided into several filming locations.
"Western Town" was not only one of these locations, but also home to the actors of this series. (Since it was revealed in the original Chapter 3 that Asgore loved the show, I imagine he could very well have collected merchandise from it and then played with Kris and Asriel.)
"Sheriff Lumber's Wild West" was a TV show that followed the life of the town and its main stars, Sheriff Lumber and Bulls-I.
Soon, a new show, "Astral Wolf of the Galaxy Squad", appeared in the TV world. It followed the brave astronaut Astral Wolf (performed by Basel) who roamed the galaxy. (In the Light World, Asriel has stars hanging above his bed, so I imagine he could very well have been a fan of the show and had toys from it.)
Despite the competition, Sheriff Lumber didn't envy him. In fact, they became best friends.
The Studio Bosses (the rulers of the Dark World), seeing the benefit, decided to film a crossover show about Lumber and Astral Wolf.
A few days before filming, Lumber and Bulls-I were out for a walk near the outskirts of town. Locals complained of a strange beast attacking their livestock, and our heroes decided to investigate.
They returned a few days later. They were badly battered, the Sheriff's eye was damaged, and Bulls-I's side was cracked, but according to them, the beast had been defeated. But since then, Lumber began acting strangely. He began causing trouble in town, believing he was doing good for the townspeople. Afterwards, he quarreled with Basel when the latter came to talk to him. Fearing for the well-being of the entire Dark World, the Bosses decided to evacuate the entire Western Town, trapping the Sheriff and his horse in the area. After the heavy doors of the set were closed, a huge poster was hung in their place in memory of the Sheriff and his partner. So Lumber remained in the devastated town, along with his faithful steed, who continued to whisper words to him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, another former cowboy actor gone crazy. But I wanted to add something new. So, like Woody, Lumber has his own companion. But then I decided to take it a step further and choose Bulls-I as Friend's host, as a cowboy possessed by Friend would have been too familiar a plot development.
The characters are obvious references to the Toy Story characters. Lumber is Woody, Bulls-I is Bullseye, and Astral Wolf is Buzz Lightyear.Since we know little about Astral Wolf from the original Deltarune, why not make him Buzz's counterpart? So, his real name is Basel, and Astral Wolf is the name of the character he plays in the TV show.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Design.
As I said before, I don't often draw my own stuff, so this is what it turned out to be. But I like it!
Lumber is a wooden toy with ropes for limbs that can be pulled from side to side. This makes his arms act as lassos. There's also a magnet at the bottom of his torso, which helps him hold on to Bulls-I more securely.
Bulls-I is a wooden horse who is the Sheriff's friend and partner. Who's hiding behind that cute face? My idea was that he wouldn't speak. (This uses the common trope of only one character being able to understand the sounds or gestures made by a mute character.) So, after Bulls-I's body was taken over by the Friend, Lumber wasn't surprised when he started talking to him.
In the next post I'll try to describe in more detail the interactions between the Sheriff and the Fun Gang.
"Fan art is the highest expression of a fan's LOVE for the creator and their creation."
I'd like to allow myself to express a little of my feelings in this blog. Frankly, there aren't any people in my immediate circle who are as passionate about Deltarune as I am (seriously, sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in my city who knows about this game). And for social interactions, even online, where you can be anyone and say anything about yourself, I'm too antisocial, haha. So, I think I'll just pour out most of my thoughts here. ________________________________________________________________
So, I adore fan-made secret bosses. The way people come up with unique designs, captivating stories, and musical themes that crackle with freedom amazes me. One of the first secret bosses I encountered after Chapter 2 was Foane. Back then, I felt something inexplicable. I wanted to believe it was a leak from Toby Fox, I was so captivated by her writing and the track "Signal of Freedom" haha. Well, now (for a couple of months now) she has her own fan battle, which is great, because the universe created by ZET continues to exist and evolve. ________________________________________________________________ Since I live in a place (the Void) where Fangamer can't deliver its merch, the only way I can express my love and gratitude is through my hobbies. Drawing and playing musical instruments bring me closer to Deltarune and fan art. But recently, I wanted to take things to the next level. I wanted to create something of my own. It's not an easy task. Objectively speaking, I'm still creatively challenged and mostly imitate:
✏️ I can sort of draw. I'm better at copying, of course, haha, but I suppose it's better than nothing. Eram and the Knight fanarts are the first things I've done myself, which is why they're so dear to me.
🎵 I can play the flute and piano. So, should I understand all the intricacies of music theory? Well, when it comes to music, I'm more of a practical person (I can read sheet music). I wouldn't call my musical ear perfect, but I can tell if a note is out of place. While playing music from the original Deltarune is as easy as typing a search query online, when it comes to fan-made tracks, that's where things get tricky. There are practically no sheet music for these tracks. So, I've picked up the notes (or parts of them) for several fan-made tracks: * "Campfire" and "REACH FOR THE STARS" (Whistles by Vozaxhi) * "WEST FALLIN' APART" (Sheriff Woostern by The Mercair) * "LAUGH TRACK" (M1K3 by Sad Bread and Haloboi3)
It's an interesting experience and a wonderful feeling when you can connect with a character through their musical theme, experiencing those emotions, channeling them.
________________________________________________________________ Well, that's all, not to mention cooking and the desire to plant a red-leaved tree near the house (That's completly fine, right?). So, what was the point of this long paragraph? I'm not a professional, but my desire to create is still there. I plan to post my ideas for secret bosses for Deltarune here soon. I can't promise high-quality digital drawings yet, but I'll keep improving. Thank you! :] P.S. I'm not sure if I should tag fan characters in the tags, as I don't want confuse people.
My doodles on the Roaring Knight. Interestingly, many facts point to Dess being the Knight. And I like this theory, as I do any other theory about the Knight's identity. However, Dess was one of the first to come to my mind while playing Chapter 4.
Sure, the design is a little different (especially the helmet/head), but why not? (:
So yes, for the most part, the knight's armor here is skeletal. Collarbones and shoulder blades that have become pauldrons. Protruding ribs and skinny limbs.
That's my knight.
Honestly, I don't know what to write here. (Or if I should.) But I love Deltarune and I'd like to be involved in the fandom somehow. So, yeah. My first post here and my first Deltarune fan art, which I'm more or less happy with, haha. (Yes, the edges of the fabric look like tentacles, but that way Eram can throw bombs ;P) Someday I'll transfer it to digital form.
Well, I had to start somewhere.
