' PARADISE ... ? ' he knew nothing of eden , nor did he have any ounce of experience with the digital beyond what regular renovations and implementations japan had slowly embedded itself with over time and that he had been forced to either witness , endure , or learn to use --- such as those steel teeth digging into the earth in order to carry trains and the like not only across the ground but even above the slews of his back and its twisting rivers . once , when humans were far more helpless and indebted to the capricious whims of the kami , the orochi too had been the source of sacrifice ... and of far more than a single measly house full of children . yet shiroyama says nothing as he sets his fingers delicately at his chin , the set of his lips lingering in a mystifying smile as he listens .
' i'll never understand what such people hate about this world . a world free of imperfections is a world free of anything . to some , that [ nothingness ] is surely happiness ... but for me , ' who would live , and live and live and live into eternity , until the very end --- ' it's long been a matter of acceptance . at any rate , humans fail to even be freed of insect bites . why should the whims of the gods , who are always so much greater than them , be any different ? ' at least he had never made so empty a promise as illusion ; his banks alone were littered with rusted blades , blood , and the countless myriad ghosts of thousand year old aged sins . I can't deny that there many who are foolishly taken in by temptation as a result of their own greed and delusions but in the end, the Gods are the one who take advantage of that to create their own ' perfect world ' bereft of any human control. There are just as many people born without a choice but every circumstances differ. " Perhaps in reality, the blame lied with both sides but there was undeniable bias on Narumi's side given his own past. After all, he was someone originally born without a choice in the matter but not that it mattered much these days. He was here after all.

The way he spoke as if it wasn't a hardship that concerned him in the slightest ... even after all this time, he was still a mysterious individual ( there was always this lingering feeling that there was much more to Shiroyama than what met the eye ).

' and with that he turns about , ignoring the other's self-proclaimed stance on antics and entertainment all in order to procure a tray with cups and a kettle carefully balanced atop it . ㅤㅤNARUMI couldn't help but wonder just exactly how clumsy he was to not be able to pour tea properly despite his apparent ability to brew it. Well, not that he cared that much.
ㅤㅤWith a sigh, he gingerly raised himself up a bit from his seat to pour them both a cup before settling himself back down. He traced his finger along the rim of his own cup, pondering a moment before finally raising it up to his own lips. " ... It's hard to say what you count as interesting but I suppose there has been an interesting case as of late. Something about a cult attempting to cultivate its own paradise in a digital world ... supposedly mimicking the Garden of Eden. They made a contract with a certain entity in order to create this falsified world, free of any strife and suffering. Perhaps they were attempting to summon this God into the real world but either way, it was a whole mess. They created an orphanage solely for this project so practically all the kids were reduced to just floating brains in tanks. It's ironic, isn't it ? A 'perfect ' world can only be built upon the sacrifices of others. It's cases like these that remind me that the whims of the Gods is something that humanity can never be free from. "

ㅤㅤHe eventually curled his fingers around a discarding tile and set it forward onto the board. Although he had let go of his surprise by now, he still couldn't help but stare incredulously at his opponent ( did he seriously suggest strip mahjong ? )
ㅤㅤ" ... Should've expected you were the type to make vulgar bets. " He retorted with a show of disgust, clearly exasperated by his suggestion. " Should priests normally be this shameless ? " At this point, there was no meaning in maintaining a civil facade when it was clear that Shiroyama was eager to toy with him ( what an annoying personality ).
ㅤㅤ" If you want a reason to venture down the mountains then maybe you could actually find someone who's willing to entertain your distasteful gambles. " Clack. " … I could say the same about you.
