Its good to to see Jagmeet Singh condemn the forced sterilization of Indigenous Women in Canada. This is still happening in 2018:
Indigenous women still being coerced into sterilizations across Canada, Ontario senator says
I just checked all the other federal leader’s twitter accounts. The NDP leader is the only one who has made a comment on this topic since the latest news story broke yesterday. I didn’t see anything from Justin Trudeau, Andrew Scheer or Elizabeth May.

Reminder that the mayor of Pittsburgh and Rabbis and Jewish leaders asked Trump not to come to Pittsburgh.
The former Rabbi of Tree of Life went on MSNBC just last night to implore Trump not to come.
He did not listen, just like he never does.
Jeff Sessions was interrupted by a priest who just directly quoted Jesus at him. Jeff Sessions was speaking about not allowing refugees and immigrants into this country.
The priest was removed. Another religious leader stood up and defended the priest, and they were also removed.
Powerful video. Jesus loves that priest, and that priest knows Jesus.
Two things bug me about this:
1) This priest is taking Jesus’ words out of context, and ignoring other things he said. First of all, nearly all of his teachings (including what the priest said) were directed at individuals, not governments. It is the responsibility of people - not the state - to care for refugees and the poor. The government has a different responsibility, as spelled out in the preamble of the constitution, and the bill of rights. By expecting the state to care for the poor, we are absolving ourselves of that responsibility.
On top of that, Jesus also told us to “be wise as serpents”. We don’t know who these people are, where they’re from, or what their intentions are, only what we’ve been told. People are right to be suspicious. They could’ve stopped at many embassies along the way, yet they are coming all the way to our border. If a crowd of your neighbors demands to be let in your house because you have the only working toilet, you’re not the bad guy for wondering why they came to you instead of calling first, or fixing their own toilets. And let’s not forget that ISIS has actually said they intend to use refugee programs to sneak into countries they mean to attack. Caution is the wise choice here.
2) Escorting them from the room has nothing to do with their religious freedom. You don’t get to use the bible as club to interrupt a meeting, or harrass people. It’s just like how you have the right to own a gun, but you don’t have the right to murder someone.
Your first point is such horseshit. There is no possible way for you to personally welcome refugees and immigrants, as you are expressly commanded to do, if the United States erects a militarized border and does now allow them to come into the country at all, and threatens them with overwhelming violence if they try. And the government is entirely made up of individuals making individual choices. They are individually deciding to not allow immigrants and refugees into this country - therefore, they are guilty of disobeying Jesus.
And the Bible ALSO DOES explicitly condemn government officials and state leaders that write oppressive and discriminatory laws, so you cant weasel your way out of it.
Isaiah 10:1-4:
“Ah, you who make iniquitous decrees, who write oppressive statutes, 2 to turn aside the needy from justice and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be your spoil, and that you may make the orphans your prey! 3 What will you do on the day of punishment, in the calamity that will come from far away? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth, 4 so as not to crouch among the prisoners or fall among the slain? For all this his anger has not turned away; his hand is stretched out still.”
Please, reblog! IIt’s called self defense. Apart from having here, in the US, one of the highest cases of homicide and rape in the world and high rate of GBV, think about how this could help your mother or sister

you may not like tory but at least he wasnt the worst case scenario
Yeah I’m sure Torontonians are just bursting with joy that they don’t have a white supremacist as mayor.
Note: There was zero chance of that happening.
How about we don’t make up imaginary scenarios defending John Tory’s mediocrity.
Ugh yes had to have this one sided convo with my family. Yeah he's not the worst thing ever but like we're deserve better maybe?
I love this way too much
