Damn, it's building of a ruin, it's so beautifully painful and it's even more painful cause it has such llight beautiful touching moments that contrast with sadness, with evil and regret and everything else in between is just pure excitement
Love how close and similar Sherlock and Cordelia are, but then you realize these two were separated and put into two very different but very similar and oppressive institutions, forced to be "mad" and "criminal" with their minds used against them, with those similarities used to justify abuse against both of them, as something to be wary of in each other. And it's so real and expected, that's how things often are, that's how people are often treated, especially women, especially those who are similar to women, the gaslighting, the pretend care, the betrayal of all of this. Man, that hits close to home
Love the changes to everyone's life, the horror of it, how unexpected big changes can come from smallest events.
Love James, love Xiao Wei, love Mycroft, each with their separate journey all revolving around two people really.
Oh do i hate Silas 100/10 for man causing trust issues for all his family and everyone around them, for being so focused on the idea and seeing no one and nothing else, and still acting as if he cares. Like, man, being evil is one thing, but being such a shitty husband and father is personal. And i love how he's supposed to be this 'meek man of science' ' look he's collecting buterflies and couldn't bear to care for his two children and sick wife, his voice is almost trembling when he speaks' and then the cracks gradually appear and why does his son seem to be afraid of him, oh, of course it's all in his son's head, he's just like his mother, has too active imagination. And then the facade just shatters, and under this is not even a person scared of being discovered, but someone having no care at all
It's just very possible, very believable
And then we have Bea, and only then we see how everything was set up from the start and it's complicated not because it's some work of genius, quite the opposite it's bad solution on bad solution resulting in the worst possible family reunion ever, every part of this set up is such a joke - and i love how one of the rules is to look for the most simple explanation - but this case is a mess, cause life is a mess, and things rarely have straightforward explanation
Damn, that works well
And all the kill/not kill debates, the different reasons they all have for one or the other, not quite stated but still there, it's all about limits i guess of human minds, morals, capabilities, mortality, love
I guess that's just a really good cast of characters in a story which has little to no conventional structure, it's always one case not quite closed and new one already started, unlike the canon, but it's a good contrast too, a different view on the same subject
And it's all such a mess compared to canon cases, and it makes for a good origin story. And all the tricks, traits, skills divided between all the people our future mc interacts with, knowing he's using all of this in the future when none of them are around? Beautiful and devastating idea
"You are a work in progress" yeah, he sure is
And to contrast all of the above the ending is perfectly in style for canon - not some sweet ideal resolution, but not a boring doom and gloom either - just an invitation to some new exciting adventure
Why was i sure this will be just a chill show again?
