@Sieffre
Sieffre didn’t understand how Lee could be so happy without any- “oh, yes, and I’ll never leave you, ever!” or something on par with his sappiness. Maybe he was just easily pleased. And the moment Sieffre had affirmed that yes, he was going to marry the sap, Lee pulled him close, and- and Sieffre wrapped his arms around him tightly and buried his face in Lee’s neck, and blushed all the way to his ears as Lee said- sappy, dumb things that, that he couldn’t really quite resist, couldn’t get over it every time Lee said it. Dumbass, dumbass, dumbass, dhjwejherjuhreurebrrrrggggh, being in love was- was tiresome at time, it really was, he almost wanted to cry, he was, he was-
And for all of Sieffre’s boastful masculinity, there may have been tears. Happy tears- not quite at getting married, but more akin to- he, he wasn’t- he’d found a new home and someone to love and he was never going to have to think of his old life. Never.
So there they were, engaged and in a tree in the middle of winter. It wasn't exactly how Lee had planned for his life to go, but then again, nothing really went as Lee planned it to be. That just made it more fun.
He never expected to come to Silver Town and become a teacher. He never expected to find that his only student was someone so interesting. He never expected that he would end up falling in love with Sieffre. He never expected he would find happiness again after what had happened in the city. Lee regretted none of it.
He just held onto his crying fiance and smiled. It was time to move on from the past and begin his new life with Sieffre, by his side, forever.
((CONGRATS ON THE ADORBS ENGAGEMENT HNNGGG ALL OF MY KOKOROS AND DOKIS. When's the wedding so Amel- ahem I mean HARRISON - can get a little tipsy on wine like most typical wedding guests do?))
((LMAO i have no idea when the wedding is gonna be we're still figuring that out xoxoxoxox thANK YOU THOUGH LMAO IT ONLY TOOK 2 YEARS))
@Sieffre
So, as Sieffre said, he would listen to him. And he did listen. And kept listening. And, well, he kind of nearly fell off the branch at the end- but he was fine, it was good, he was okay. No problems here. No problems at all. His eyes didn’t widen and he didn’t metaphorically rush into Lee’s arms or anything- because first, he wasn’t a girl, and second, he was immune to Lee’s sappiness. Side effect of living with him and knowing him for like- what, nearly two years? Had to be. No other possible explanation.
Now, what Sieffre did do- he did shuffle along the branch closer to Lee. How long had it been since he’d heard his last name? Sieffre took the ring first- at least he knew what to do with that- and slid it on his finger. It was thin, it wasn’t gaudy, Sieffre looked at his hand and found he actually liked it. Well- he liked a lot of stuff Lee had, this must be no exception. The feather was a little harder. He took it from Lee’s hand, and twirled it around between two fingers, before sliding it underneath his hairtie. It….was used as an accessory, right? Right.
"….yeah, okay."
For all of Sieffre’s guts and shows of bravery and recklessness, he didn’t think he had the courage to look at Lee’s face at that exact moment.
Never in his whole life had Lee been as happy as he was to hear the words "...yeah, okay.". He had to resist chuckling when Sieffre put the feather in his hair, though. While even he had no idea what to do with the feather, he didn't think it was a hair accessory. It looked good on him, regardless. Anything blue looked good.
Instead, he just grinned and pulled Sieffre to him, hugging him and letting out a laugh. Goddess, he was so happy. He hugged Sieffre tighter, their balance on the branch wavering but he steadied them. He was just ecstatic. "I love you, Sieffre." Lee would say it over and over just as he had been before, only this time it'd be to his fiance, then husband.
@Sieffre
Sieffre watched Lee climb with a great deal of unconcealed amusement. Lee had…well, he wasn’t quite on the branch, but Sieffre let it slide out of the goodness of his heart and the fact that Lee had nearly fallen on the way up. “Pppffft, alright, alright, you’re up. Good job, I guess.” He smiled and shrugged, “Even if you nearly fell down. So….you….needed to talk about something?” Lee didn’t usually….need to seriously talk about anything, much less…seek out Sieffre for it. He made him work for it, Sieffre would hear him out.
Lee nodded and shrugged his shoulders, just now feeling the nerved hit him in the gut. But then again, what was Sieffre going to do, say no? Like that'd happen. They've been through too much together to even think about backing out.
"Right, I did say that." He inhaled, then let it all out. "Sieffre, you know I love you. I say it plenty and I show you my affections whether you want them or not. And, as much as you sometimes hate to admit it, you love me too." He stopped to smile a little at that. There were countless times when Sieffre's stubbornness kept him from admitting his feelings, which were always amusing times for Lee. "We've been together for a long time now, and even if you think I'm a dumbass, I'm your dumbass. You're stuck with me."
Lee sighed, his neck starting to ache with his nerves building up. "Well, what I'm trying to say here, is that I want to stay with you. Forever. As long as you're breathing and I am too, I want to be with you. I want to stay by your side, and I want you to be by mine. I've fallen in love with every aspect of you-- every moment we spend together." By now, Lee's cheeks had turned pink, and not just from the cold. "I love waking up with you by my side. I love cooking breakfast and lunch and dinner with you. I just... I love you." Lee reached into his jacket and pulled out the ring and blue feather.
"I- uh- I didn't know which one you'd prefer, so I got both..." He looked Sieffre in the eyes and his cheeks turned red. "Sieffre Katirci, will you marry me?"
@Sieffre
"Enjoying the scenery. It’s nice, I guess. Inside felt a little stuffy." His breath condensed in the air, and he turned his sight towards the forest bordering the town. "What’re you doing down there? Can’t handle the cats?" He probably needed Sieffre to corral them into a room or something. Something like that.
Lee bit his cheek and narrowed his eyes at Sieffre. “I bought those heaters so the house isn’t freezing.” He sighed and rolled his eyes. “That and we can’t find the thicker blankets… Not my fault, though.” It was obviously his fault, since he was the one who put them somewhere in the past, but that wasn’t really what was important now, was it?
He looked up at Sieffre in the tree again and shrugged. “You know I could never handle those cats myself. I could barely handle the asshole cat.” Lee pushed his own bangs from his face and smiled a bit. “I actually came to talk to you, like I said earlier.”
"I know, I just….mm, whatever. I’ll go home soon." Sieffre sighed and looked back down at Lee, "Yeah, yeah. What are they doing now?" But…the second part. Lee sounded like what he had to talk about wasn’t cats, because he’d start ranting about it by now, definitely by now. "Come up into the tree to talk- you’re young enough to climb, aren’t you, Lee?" Sieffre snickered, gesturing for Lee to sit beside him on his branch.
"......." Goddess damn it. Lee didn't really want to climb a tree in the middle of winter, but if it meant Sieffre would actually listen to him speak, Lee supposed it wouldn't be as bad as he thought.
So, he sighed and made his way over to the tree, making it up with a bit of effort (and almost falling once). He took his seat leaning on the tree, both legs hanging on opposite sides. At least he could look casual-ish in the tree and not worry about falling down.
"There, I'm up." He stuck his tongue out at Sieffre and then chuckled.

If Lee had merely looked up, he would have saw the very man he was looking for, watching him and smiling smugly, because Lee’s dumb and he was right there, god. And there the older man was, making a fool of himself. “Lee.” Sieffre grumbled, moving further out on the branch. He could only hope and pray that, if Lee could not see, he could hear, and then see, see Sieffre haughtily looking down on him from above. “Right here, asshole. You’re so loud….jeez…”
Lee smacked his own forehead. Of course the asshole was in a tree. "Whatever." He looked up and Sieffre with a raised brow. "What are you doing climbing trees in the winter, anyways?" He kept his hands in his pockets and just waited for a response.
@Sieffre
A few days had passed since Lee had visited Amelia’s stand. That gave the teacher plenty of time to piece together his words and come up with a clear and thoughtful proposal for his boyfriend. However, when the time had come for Lee to finally pop the question, Sieffre was nowhere to be found.
So, here Lee was, trudging about in the snow with both the feather and ring inside of his jacket, looking for his beloved. Of course, he had no idea where the fuck he could have gone, since he hated the cold so much, but Lee intended to find him and propose, no matter what. Today was the day and there was nothing to stop that.
Why was Sieffre outside? Good question. He’d taken the time to put on coats and scarves and boots and such, and go outside in the freezing cold, and apparently he wasn’t anywhere Lee had checked, which was any reasonable place a person could be. Though, Lee never thought reasonably anyway, so Sieffre took great joy in watching Lee trek around, from a very high branch in the tree in town square. Lee would search and search, and Sieffre would be enjoying the view and the snow on the branches and the mere five minute trek back to warmth. Go on Lee, go on with whatever you’re doing. He’ll just wait here.
Lee grumbled to himself about the things he did for love and tightened the scarf he had around his neck. It was too fucking cold to be outside. He had just gotten some space heaters, too, to keep the house warm and run up the electricity bill. Wait, did they even have bills around here? Lee didn't remember receiving any...
The teacher just huffed, a cloud of white coming from his lips. He looked around and sighed. "SIEFFRE, WHERE ARE YOU? I HAVE SOMETHING I WANT TO TALK ABOUT." Okay, that will either make Sieffre hid even more, or bring him out. Hopefully, the latter.

Okay so it was definitely what it looked like but youre not gonna believe who its for
"Oh, you don’t have to give me a tip~" Amelia bashfully adjusted her glasses. "Thank you, Lee. It’s very much appreciated." Humming, she wrapped the blue feather box in the nicest cloth she could find. This would prevent any snowfall from dirtying the pristine surface and would also protect the contents inside from any curious eyes. When she got out a small container for the ring, however, her humming stopped.
"Uh, Lee," She had to clear her throat as her voice cracked slightly. "there is… something else you must know about this ring." She stared at the object in question for a moment as if trying to piece together what exactly it was she wanted to say. "It’s, well, it’s somewhat of a sentimental thing to me. All of the items here were dug up by Harrison and myself, e-except that. So, um, please take good care of it."
"It’s no problem at all. You’ve helped me out a lot." Lee smiled and was waiting for her to finish wrapping. She seemed to be having a good time doing so as well, that is, until it came to the ring. Lee listened to Amelia’s request and nodded. "Oh, don’t worry. I’ll be sure to take great care of it, if it’s that important. Don’t you worry, Amelia." He gave her a reassuring smile. "And well, if all goes wrong, I will gladly return the ring back to you. Hopefully, nothing does go wrong, though." He gave a laugh in hopes of brightening her mood a bit.
"Nothing’s going to go wrong." Amelia chuckled. "Chin up and all that! But on the off chance it doesn’t fit your future fiance,” She placed extra emphasis on that last part by way of encouragement. “then…just make sure it’s worn or displayed by someone who appreciates it. Don’t worry about bringing it back.” Amelia finished with packaging the item up and handed it along with the blue feather to Lee.
"I need to let go of a few things, and giving this ring to someone who’s actually going to wear it is one way of doing just that."
Lee chuckled and nodded. "Will do, Amelia." Now he just had to worry about how to propose... After all, Sieffre was picky and sometimes hard to impress, so Lee would have to think about it very carefully. "I'll be sure to invite you to the wedding!" He added with another laugh, then took his things and began to walk away. He waved a bit as he left and began to think of what he could say to Sieffre to swoon him beyond belief.
Probably what it may seem to look like

“Oh! Why, that I do!”
Well well! So there was more to Lee jewelry shopping then simply looking for a gift. Amelia’s curiosity was piqued, but she resisted asking about it and instead began excitedly rifling through her wares to find where she had stashed her blue feathers. If she was supposed to know who the lucky recipient was, she figured Lee would tell her if he could. She probably didn’t even know them, anyway. Silver Town was small, and Amelia had never seen Lee with any of the townspeople like that — at least, not in the short span of time she had been there — so the scholar deduced that the significant other must live somewhere else.
“Ah, here’s one!” She produced a small, clear box and presented it to Lee. Nestled within was a simple feather, but it’s blue color shone like a clear winter sky. “The packaging is to keep it in pristine condition during transport.” Amelia explained. “The feather itself can be worn however the recipient wishes. It can also be displayed in the home. Quite a versatile thing, it is!”
Lee looked at the feather and had to admit, it was a beautiful object. He could definitely see why people would use it to propose marriage. He nodded at Amelia’s explanation for the wrapping and picked up the package, looking at it. “How much does it cost, though?” That was very important as well… Plus, he had to factor that in with the ring as well. The ring was a definite. He wanted everyone to know Sieffre was his and his only, and the ring would be the perfect thing for that.
"The market price for a genuine blue feather these days is 1000G." Amelia stated. "The ring would be a bit more — around 3000G — but…" The scholar reached into her breast pocket and pulled out a small ledger. "…if memory serves me right, I don’t believe you have bought anything from my stall yet. A customer’s first purchase from me is always free — limited to one item, of course — so as unorthodox as this may sound, if you do indeed decide to buy something I will have no qualms with simply giving it to you."
It could be argued that some small part of Amelia’s financial woes could be attributed to this rather odd store policy of hers. But, then again, it was this very policy that had helped her build and maintain many lucrative relationships with past clientele.
Lee gave Amelia a large grin and chuckled. "That's quite the policy. It's sure to bring you good business, I'm sure. Hopefully the town gets some more people around to buy up your things." He reached into his small pouch he had tied to his belt loop and pulled out 2000g, then set it on the table. "I'll take the ring and the feather, please. The other 1000g is just a tip, since you're so knowledgeable on your items." He gave another friendly smile. It was the least he could do for her assistance.

Definitely Most Likely Not What It Looks Like
"To tell you the truth, Lee, I’m not entirely sure myself. No one is. Proposing with a Blue Feather is a tradition that has existed since before recorded history. Not even the most well-read academics can say how or where it started, but there are countless theories floating about — they range from divine intervention by a ‘Harvest Goddess’ to bored prehistoric people trying to impress others with pretty things." Amelia made a dismissive noise at that last one.
"Alas, the most we know about the Blue Feather tradition is based on evidence dated only from the last millennium, and even then different cultures had put their own spin on it. Some countries used a real feather from a real blue bird; it was plucked from the bird by the male and was worn like a necklace by the female. In other countries, the feather was more symbolic; it was fake but dyed with a rich ink designed to permanently stain important items. In the case of the blacksmith and his apprentice, it was probably more cost-effective than investing in an expensive ring or trying to make one with what little smithing supplies they had left."
And speaking of rings, Amelia couldn’t help but feel somewhat relieved that Lee had been temporarily distracted from the one he had been eyeing. It gave her a chance to think as she automatically rattled off textbook content she had memorized some forgotten age ago.
Truth be told, she had long since thought that ring to be lost. From her chaotic exodus from the Academy, to the dozens of towns she had visited, to the hundreds of backroads and scenic vistas she had traveled, the wandering scholar had figured that the ring had vanished never to be seen again.
…so of course it had been with the other rings the whole time. What had probably been Amelia’s last recorded attempt at organization had come back to bite her. Maybe.
Because that ring was very important to her. Wasn’t it? Well, it was a few years ago, but what about now? Of course it was still important. But she wasn’t using it. Because she thought she lost it. Or maybe she hoped she had lost it. She would never. But she did want to let go. Of course she did. And Lee seemed to need it. So he did. This could be a way. Wes wouldn’t mind. He’d want her to be happy.
"Aaandd so," Amelia concluded. "despite the mysterious fact that it has permeated almost every single culture in human history, we still don’t know much about the Blue Feather tradition other than its prominent use as a marriage proposal device."
Lee nodded, taking in the information that Amelia gave him. It was a lot to take in, but he wanted to be fully informed on the matter. After all, this was a very important thing he was going to do, so he wanted to do it right. Did Sieffre even know about the feather, though? He possibly had heard of it or read of it at some point, but there was no guarantee that he did know about it. So perhaps that would be chance for Lee to reiterate some historical nonsense as he usually did at school. To be honest, that'd be a little bit funny--At least, to Lee it would be.
The teacher looked at the ring once again. It really did seem like it would suit Sieffre incredibly, and Lee had plenty to spend for this kind of thing, seeing as he was selling some of his old things from the city in secret to save up some money (as well as forget bits and pieces of the past, seeing as they weren't really wanted). Lee bit his cheek and looked at Amelia, a flare of determination in his eyes, but also a tinge of embarrassing pink in his cheeks.
"Do you happen to... have any blue feathers? I'd like to look at them, please." Oh, she was definitely going to know where he was going with this shopping trip for sure...
