REVIEW: BAS “Milky Way”
Bas dropped a album “Too High To Riot” in 2016 that is on my Top 20 of the past 10yrs. Yes! Top 20. That’s over a lot of great albums by a bunch of great artist. As a fan I was excited to see he dropped something new. I heard some teasers dropped here and there like “Boca Raton” ft. Asap Ferg and “Spaceships + Rockets”. I love when I look and I see something familiar in the new release section. This album is just as cool and breezy as “Too High Too Riot” It is a blend of melodies, barz and a vibe of Bas. The vibe is his original shit. I honestly don’t know any MCs with the same sound. He even references on the this album at bringing a new sound to New York. I think the Dreamsville cats sit in the studio together and vibe under the direction of J Cole and create the magic that the crew has been giving us. I have always said that some of the Dreamsville artist may possibly be dropping J Cole throw aways. A J Cole throw away is your favorite artist best shit. I could be mistaken and it could just be the influence of Cole that is rubbing the tarnish off some brass to these shined up treasures. My favorite joint on the album is “Fragrance” Ft. Correy C. The songs that feature Correy have a Cudi like vibe on the choruses. Not depressing Cudi but chilled Cudi. Bas and Correy blend together perfectly. I would personally like to hear a joint project from the two. Honorable mentions are “Infinity+2” and “Barack Obama Special” I could honorable mention this whole record. Vibez start to finish. The fact that the industry and world isn’t talking about this album really upsets me. I’m writing this review in hopes of it going viral and the world excepting the blessings of great music. It might be too much for the average listener. This shit is on another planet compared to whats being dropped these days. This shits on another galaxy. It’s a Milky Way.
