after going thru so much grief, losing her sister, breaking up with her boyfriend, all while becoming a young adult.. she finally got some good and met alvin. :')
the lake of lost girls by katherine greene was actually so good. i don't normally read thrillers or mysteries as much, but this year im challenging myself to read different genres.
i usually really hate when books flip between characters but in this book it was very interesting to me. it was interesting to see lindsey learn more about her sister jessica that she didn't ever know because she was too young to realize. when i got to the end of the book i had no idea that it would've been jessica who murdered those girls. i was playing the sims while listening to the audiobook and i had to stop and just stare at my screen to fully listen to what my ears were hearing from their dad.
my heart was actually really sad for jessica, if that's weird.. im sorry? not sorry. jessica definitely needed help but her dad shielded her and continued to allow her to spiral. he should've never helped her dispose of the bodies, he would've never put himself in that position to feel the need to kill her. they really both needed help. dude was a predator to younger women and that was also really sad.
lindsey's life turned for the worst for sure... to learn that the sister you admired and loved who was torn away from you murdered a bunch of girls and then your own father murdered her instead of helping her.. i would've just been so broken. idk how much therapy you would need after this. and to also know you were only born so your mom wouldn't be lonely, like she needed a pet. this whole family was broken.
it was a ride for sure reading this book and i would recommend listening to it as an audiobook, but i could be bias. my friend read it and really enjoyed it written.
i feel like i need a small novella or something for lindsey, just to know she's okay. she went through so much. let's hope she doesn't become like jessica and murder people, maybe someone like ryan or the stupid horny professor lol
