She laughs brightly, still overjoyed to be seen — how long has it been, days? Months? She tosses her hair (still curled and held together perfectly, with the exception of a few stray strands from a struggle) back over her shoulder, revealing a gouge by her collar bone, where the strap of her nightgown rests against her skin. ‘ You have no idea how glad I am to see you! ’

after two straight weeks of seeing clients who passed in their sleep, clients who are the perfect facsimile of themselves in life, the gore throws ollie for a bit of a loop. it’d take some elbow grease to be a self-inflicted wound. ‘ i’ve got a little bit of an idea, actually. ’ her therapist smile arrives late, wriggling around without the full force of her confidence. ‘ -and i’m really glad to see you too. ’
