A grand jury has decided whether to indict officer Darren Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown.
Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot Michael Brown, was not indicted last night and will not face trial. He has been on paid leave for the last three months.
The UNC Siren stands with the citizens of Ferguson, Missouri. We condemn the "justice" system that allows Black citizens to be killed without consequence.
The UNC Siren also expresses support for the UNC students who organized and spoke at today's silent walk-out. We thank the brave Black students who shared their stories today and at last night's vigil.
Our readers are encouraged to check fergusonresponse to find protests in their area.

UNC Asian Students Association does not support Students for Fair Admissions’ claims that applicants are being denied admission to the university on the basis of race. UNC ASA favors admission policies that ensure diversity, which is integral for the learning experience on college campuses, and recognizes that any admissions process is multi-faceted with no exact science. Additionally, the filing fails to present a holistic portrayal of UNC’s Asian student community, which is comprised of diverse ethnicities and spanning an array of socio-economic backgrounds. To paint the picture that Asians are being denied admission into UNC due to racial discrimination is to use our community as a shield to promote an already privileged position.
Students for Fair Admissions, inc., has filed a lawsuit against Harvard University and UNC-Chapel Hill, claiming that the admissions policies at those institutions discriminate unfairly against white and Asian students.
The Asian Students Association at UNC wants no part of this. The Association refuses to be a part of the "Model Minority" myth that serves to pit people of color against one another.

“Why. Why. Why don’t films have trigger warnings? Do we actually give this few fucks about survivors? Is our culture truly this out of touch with women’s experiences? Why.” The South Point parking lot was silent—more silence, silence. More silencing of survivors. I mourned the emptiness and wished the whole lot to be filled with the voices of survivors, the unanswered cries of victims of abuse. We hear them not. We see them not. We think not of them when promoting our blockbuster films.
A trigger warning. If nothing else. The very least we owe our survivors.
