Hannibal 2.13 “Mizumono” with dialogue from Red Dragon (2002)
A linoleum knife, a carefully selected weapon. Any knife sharp enough, in the hands of a vengeful killer, could eviscerate and exsanguinate. So why this particular blade?
Shape similar to a sickle. To reap what you sow. Sharp on the inside like a scythe, a symbol of death and justice. To reap the souls of the sinners and betrayers. To play the death is to play god.
The design meant to cut as you pull, minimizing the effort of the wielder. To make it easier to gouge loved ones, to give relief to the burden of such unforgivable violence. Created so the user can extend their arm and cut from a distance. Yet to choose to hold your victims close, to feel the life drain from them. To feel blood on your hands, sin spilling to the floor in the name of justice. A shape meant for a long and continuous cut. A movement swift enough, not to allow regret inside, to not allow yourself to stop doing what you’ve convinced yourself you need to do.
Meant to cut flooring and carpet; kept true to it’s purpose. To tear the rug out from under those you trusted. To destroy the very foundations which they all stood.
No choice made without reason, no action without purpose.
Every moment part of the design.

love this piece by Javier Pérez titled ‘Carroña’. Ten stuffed crows carefully placed on a shattered red chandelier to look as if they were feasting on a dead animal.
