Intro

Hi, I'm Tracy. I'm physically disabled and chronically ill, and I post about it. This is my side blog, and I want to keep it separate from our main. I might also post about my other interests, for example vampires, Gothic subcultures (I'm a baby bat), the Sims 4, fiber arts, ect.

happy disability pride month to those who rely on support from people who don't want to deal with them. to those who have to beg their loved ones for support. to those who have had others get tired of them and suddenly drop all support. to those who are barely hanging on because they need support from others and no one is willing to help them.

please wear sunscreen!!! I've seen "fuck the beauty industrial complex" posts about complicated skincare regimens and am 100% with them except sometimes they mention sunscreen and no. no. absolutely not. sunscreen is a wonderful supportive friend who wants to keep you safe, and you should let her do it. throw out all your other cosmetics and skincare products if you want, but keep your sunscreen. and if you're not wearing sunscreen, start wearing it!!!! this is not about terror of aging, this is not about every tiny imperfection our fucked-up culture has made you feel insecure about, this is about protecting yourself from skin cancer. wear the damn sunscreen.

Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.

One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.

And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.

When you tell someone about being mistreated because of your disability, there is a common response that goes something along the lines of, "But did you explain to them properly why you can't do x thing?" "Did you make sure they understood why you need x accomodation?" "Maybe they just didn't understand?"

For example: "Did you properly explain that the reason you don't do hugs is because of your autism?" or "Maybe they don't really understand how bad fibro fatigue is and that's why they got upset at you for concelling plans."

I hate these kind of responses. They give me the same vibe as being asked, "Yeah, but what were you wearing when you got catcalled?" They put the responsability for the problem onto the person who was discriminated against, instead of the one doing the discriminating. Disabled people should not be expected to go through grueling explanations or justify their needs before those needs are respected.

There’s something incredibly poetic about scar tissue itself causing damage more than the initial injury… growing to fill the void left by harm, clinging so tightly to keep us together that it limits our ability to move, to grow. Without it we would not survive. And yet often we have to reopen those old wounds to heal them, to dissect that which once allowed us to live. Scar tissue is stronger than steel, making it harder to be split open again… and so much harder to be treated, to be healed again. The human body is a metaphor.

I had wrist surgery this morning, and it went good, I got a nerve block so I'm not having any pain. My surgeon did find something weird tho, my bone is soft, there isn't even enough research on my condition to know it is soft or if it's even related but my surgeon assumes it is.

To be goth you should buy your clothes from thrift stores, use second hand ones (old clothes from family members as an example) or do them yourself, not buying them from fast fashion shops
