Romance is noticing that your bf added some scraps of lox to your corgi’s breakfast because he knows she’s a picky eater.
I am not remotely involved in this case but I got to observe this hearing irl today and I love LA so much, what a city, what a time to be alive.
Coming up for air after a month with a lot of transition! Wrapped up old job, went back to family cabin in Pinetop, went to Phoenix, came back home, Loretta ran a corgi derby, I ran a sprint triathlon, started a new job in a big fancy skyscraper up on Bunker Hill. Crashing at home for the first time in a minute and wow am I tired!
“average person eats 3 spiders a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
#tapping the reblog button with utmost care because i’m handling a historical artifact (via @malarkiness)

A 2025 update
In the Silence of the Green Garden, 2024. Bat Ella. Acrylic, oil and pigments on canvas.
Bought tickets for women’s Olympic rugby for the year I turn 40. The future is real!
Blossoming Chestnut Branches, May, 1890. Vincent van Gogh. Oil on canvas.
Sometimes I get really homesick and sad about the thought that if I have kids, they probably won’t grow up in Phoenix. But then I remember that Phoenix has changed, and that Phoenix of the 90’s doesn’t exist anymore, and if it does, it’s in Tucson or Albuquerque these days. Anyway, you can’t step in the same river twice, etc., etc.
Watching Eddington and I can’t explain how thoroughly and utterly true this movie is to the rural Southwest, specifically eastern Arizona and western New Mexico. If you’ve spent any meaningful time in somewhere like Show Low or Globe or Las Cruces or Silver City it’s a weird and perfect period piece.
Still thinking about how Grace was always treated as disposable. Kicked out of his passion field for his honesty—underpaid as a (very good) teacher, to the point he can’t afford a car—left alone in a room full of argon with a sample that might kill him, while all the indispensable guys who put him there stood on the other side of the glass and watched. Shoved screaming into a mission that would kill him. And then, then this bonkers little alien who just met him gladly trades years off his life (via extended return mission) to save him. Runs burning through deadly air to keep him from dying. Chooses finally to weave their lives together forever and recreate Grace’s best dreams of Earth to make him happy. No wonder Grace told Rocky he doesn’t have to get him a gift, he’s given him everything. To one little spider guy, Grace is irreplaceable. That’s love.

'Chase Bank Hit With A Space Laser'. Alex Schaefer. 2024.
Saw Project Hail Mary with two non-religious friends last night and they kept asking “what was it about this specific narrative that moved me so much?” and I had to struggle to hold myself back from sitting backwards in a chair, full youth pastor mode, and responding, “you know who ELSE had a best friend named rocky (Πέτρος) and had to sacrifice himself for mankind so that the darkness would not overcome the light?”
Anyway, Drew Goddard, the screenwriter/producer behind Daredevil, wrote the film and gotta hand it to him for Most Catholic Screenwriting (complimentary).
me doing stand up: and what about the rain? when she comes here she cleanses us, and is good. we love the rain.
