Oh no! That’s terrible! But Mer!Santana fleeing and is caught in stormy waters and washes ashore and is rescued by a human. He’s massive and heavy but they try their best to pull him ashore to wake Santana and help him.

Sure there’s some talk among his kind about him being with a human, but he could care less, holding your hand and feeling the pressure of your grip brings a smile to his face. Joseph loves the feel of your skin, it’s much more different than his, you’re softer and not as slippery as someone of the other merfolk he’s courted before. Will try to hold your hand while swimming until he realizes it’s probably not the best idea.

♥︎ Formaggio can’t help but laugh at first when you explain what Valentine’s Day is and what it is humans do for the day. “Humans have such weird mating rituals” he comments only to laugh at how embarrassed you get. He apologizes for being such a butt and without missing a beat asks if you’ll be his Valentine (cue eyebrow wag) he laughs when you dunk him under the water and away and with a smile you say yes. Formaggio is excited to take part and decides that only the best gift will do! Sure anyone could find a shiny shell or brilliant sea glass, but for you it had to be something great.

♥︎ Formaggio scours the sea floor until he happens across something he knew would be fitting. A small jeweled trinket box, silver with mother of pearls, sapphires, and other gems. You hardly can accept but he insists, something as beautiful as it deserved to be with someone as wonderful as you. Inside is a simple white shell shaped like a heart, for someone who was making fun of Valentine’s Day not too long ago he sure did go above and beyond for it.

♥︎ Prosciutto seems to have many languages of love, ever since you met and got to know him he had been subtly flirtatious, his honeyed words only seemed to grow sweeter and touches more delicate and frequent as he spent more time with you. From praising you for your wit and humor, to your beauty and features, his words of affirmation never fall short. He hates to hear you doubt yourself or talk down on your own being and to compensate for your own harshness he showers you with utter sweetness.

♥︎ To your surprise he asks if you’ll be his valentine, sure others might think it strange, but you’re the only one he’s felt this way for, and what better time to show it than your human holiday, Valentine’s Day. He questions you about it and how it works and soon enough he gets to planning.

♥︎ There’s not too many places he can take you but there is one he can’t wait to show you. Further down the shore farther than you have ever gone hides a small cave along the walls of the looming cliffs above, in it an underground cavern that he pops up from. In it you can hear the waves and wind crash and sing. He lets you know he’s never shown this place to anyone and never planned to, until you came along. He opens up more sharing his stories and travels, the day is spent with you two getting to know one another more. He insists you both come back soon and maybe you’ll be able to explore more there so much hidden just waiting to be found, and he can’t wait to experience it all with you.

I'm so happy I have a couple of asks for the Vday prompts. The merfolk have never celebrated Valentine's Day and some of them have never heard of it. Once you explain to them what a Valentine is and what it is that humans do to celebrate the mers do their best to impress you.

He definitely notices the difference between the beach grass and sea grass, the sea grass itself is much smoother and tickles while it moves with the current, this though, is definitely different.

Mer! N'Doul: "Carry me to get there faster? What do you mean--" (he is suddenly hoisted off the ground and into a bridal carry by Y/N) "what is happening why can't feel the ground"

I feel like he'd come after you if you pick him up without letting him know first, someone’s going to get bonked and it’s not him. He’s probably resistant to the idea, it’s sounds a bit humiliating, but with enough talking you can convince him to let you help him out. He’s very vocal about not liking that he can’t feel where he is going but if it’ll get him back faster then so be it.

Can you imagine? Consider using the other sensations to help describe it to him. Warm like the sunlight? Cool like sea water? Things along that nature.

pfff "forward drag", now it's got me wondering what the equivalent of "steps" are for crawling mermaids (this sounds like one of the random things Mer! Mista would ponder aloud for no reason)

I suppose as beings who have never had to use terms for traveling other than swimming they wouldn’t really have a term for traveling on land. What would they use??. 🤔

having been blind from birth mer ndoul has no idea how beautiful his own tail is and yn tries to describe it to him in ways he can understand

N’Doul has a different understanding of the world than you do, perhaps spending sometime and getting to learn on how he perceives the world first would be best in order to describe something he’s never seen before. Sure he can feel shapes and elect obstacles but he won let quite understand the warm and vibrant colors of his tail. Perhaps comparing it to something he can understand would work best.

YN: "You have heard what grass is? it grows up on land and its soft to lay down on and smells nice" merman Ndoul: "take me where this so called grass is! it seems very pleasant" (he begins to crawl. he drags himself forward a bit, taps his cane, and drags forward again and once more taps his cane. he is moving slowly) YN: "Perhaps this would be faster if I were to carry you?"

The thought of N’Doul being this demanding grump as you show him around kills me. Bring me to this so called grass! A kitten? Bring it to me! He’s a total water sign, acts tough, keeps his walls up, it is a total softie, after you gain his trust of course.
