The (lack of) power in words
Words have no meaning unless you give them their power. Words that hurt mean nothing until you let them rush through your veins with a searing pain. Words that are meant to motivate you don’t mean anything until you let them take you over and work on you, hammering away at the beautifully imperfect masterpiece you are. The one word that used to hold so much meaning means nothing anymore. Love. This word once used to describe the slow rustle of leaves, the faltering smile of a dying loved one, the unfailing care for someone you couldn’t live without, means absolutely nothing now. This word has been minced to shallow tone thrown from the mouth of someone who needs something from you. The simple word now lacks meaning because of it’s tendency to mean nothing more than that of ripple in a lake caused by one singular drop of rain. To bring the true meaning of the word back, to turn that ripple into a typhoon you must feel it in every tendon of your heart. You must not only comprehend that feeling but turn it into actions that last longer than a simple vibration of the vocal chords. Show your love if you truly feel it. Don’t just say it. Because words have no meaning anymore.
The Ease and the Difficulty
Happiness is easy to find. You can find it anywhere you look. In the smiles of faces walking by, in a nice text, a call from someone you haven’t talked to in forever, and almost anywhere you can think of. Yet, for many people it’s hard to find. They either don’t bother looking or can’t muster up the courage to find it. I myself am guilty of this. I look the wrong direction, towards things that upset me, and ignore the happiness that is seemingly right in front of my face. The hardest truth to teach yourself is that the happiness you long for is sometimes right in front of your face
Find Your Escape
The soft rustle of trees
The jarring sounds of a city
The silent monotony of a small town
We all have an escape
From whatever life we live
There is always a way to break it
To find peace in something different
Or to crowd your head
And break your day to day
Find your escape
And let it clear your mind
See the Bigger Picture
We all seem to gravitate towards the people who say everything we want to hear. Why is that? We know what they say can’t be true because none of us are perfect creatures. Yet, we still cling to these people as if they are the very reason we are living.
It’s hard to let this part of our mind go, to avoid people that say those beautiful sweet nothings in our ears. They fill our hearts for a short amount of time and make us smile for a few seconds. But in that lies the problem. It doesn’t ever last. These words pitched our way mean nothing more than the amount of time it took to say them.
The love you should be seeking is a honest, sometimes harsh, love. This kind of love comes only from people who want to see you grow. They don’t dance around issues or your mistakes to please you. They tell you how it is because they want you to be better. They see your potential and won’t pass up the chance to keep you headed in that direction.
So don’t seek a love filled with the monotonous ring of sweet nothings. Instead, look for the longer lasting happiness that comes with an honest love.

A letter to a former love
Just feel like I need to get this off my chest. I loved you. In fact I still do, just not in the same way. I once thought of my future as blissful paradise with a family of my own, but I can’t see that anymore. I gave my all to you and I guess that was my fault. I put my everything in to you because I saw you in my future. But you broke me. It sounds silly and childish but you did. I no longer look at my future and see it with someone else in it. I can only see myself lost. The thought of being with anyone is impossible to me now. I’m done hurting others and getting hurt in the explosion. You helped me realize I’m not ready nor will I be ready anytime in the next few years for any semblance of a relationship. You opened my eyes to my destructive ways and though I can’t blame you for making the decision you made, I’ve never hurt worse. I hit my lowest low and had no one there to care for me. I had to face it alone and that’s where I learned that that’s what life is gonna be like for me. Forced to fight any fight alone because I’m too afraid to hurt others. I don’t blame you, but it’s because of you I no longer long for love. I loved you with everything in me and it turned around and ripped my life apart.
