Doug: I don't really get you kids nowadays. You rush on love.
Me: Well, as for me, it feels great to be deeply loved by someone else.
Doug: But its not a necessity!
Me: But its a need to be able to feel that you are loved and cared for in some way other than the family and friendship type. Its human nature Doug. Alam mo yan.
Doug: But that doesn't mean you have to rush everything. That's why you kids don't find love. You keep on searching for it. You have to wait for the right time.
Me: Who said anything about rushing?
Doug: Some kids. They whine on and on about not being able to meet their "soulmate" or "Mr. Right" yet. Its just pathetic.
Doug: Well it doesn't exist! When you find someone to love, there has to be no question if he or she is your soulmate or your Mr. or Ms. Right. You have to think of him or her as one! You don't check some boxes off some "quality list". That's just real immature. When you love, that's it. You just love. Its not a screening or an audition or whatever the fuck is the same as that.
Me: True. It will lose its essence.
Doug: And meaning. Love doesn't recognize any face, height, weight or characteristic. Whatever fuck that made your heart skip a beat, well, that's it. No more quality checks or whatsoever.
Me: You seemed to be agitated. I thought I was the only one with a problem here.
Doug: Its just... baffling. I have no question for young love. Yes, its accepted, love knows no age and time, but whining on and on about it like a little bitch? That's where I draw the line. Love is not a societal requirement, its an emotion. I also don't get teenagers who think they do not fit in the society just because they're single. I mean, what the fuck? Whoever put relationship status in the societal norms must be a bitch. Oh wait. No one did! They just think of themselves that way. Pathetic. Its just.. too weird to see.
Me: Look at you, talking about love. If I knew better you were....
