Howdy, & welcome to this blog! Here you can find different fanfic recommendations that I have read, people have asked for, or that others have recommended!

Guidelines:

- Please keep submissions & recs to things relating to Undertale, Deltarune, or AUs based off of them. This includes fangames, such as Undertale Yellow.

- Some of the fics will be explicit, & will be marked accordingly. If you are below 18, I recommend not clicking on links marked with the mature or explicit label.

- Feel free to submit your own stories! Whether sending a link through the ask box, tagging this blog on a post you made, or writing something in the submissions box, I'll accept all of it!

- English only! Unfortunately, I only speak English, meaning I can't properly recommend fics in other languages. If a fic has a translation into English, feel free to submit!

- You can also ask for help finding a certain fic! Maybe you read a great one a few months ago & can no longer find it. I'm here to help! Just send an ask containing what you remember, & I'll do my best to find it.

- Mind the tags! If you click on a link, be sure to check the tags of the story! I only include the rating, summary, & if it's complete or not.

- What counts as a fic? Any written piece of content that tells a story! Only 100 words? It's getting recommended! Written using a weird format? It's getting recommended!

- If you do not want any mature or explicit fics recommended, tell me! If you do not clarify, I will assume you are fine with those fics being suggested!

- If I can't find a fic after looking for it after a week, I will make a post containing what the person is looking for! If you recognize it, let me know! You can also just reply to the post directly!

- I do not read most recommendations personally! Most of the fics that I recommend are found using tags & summaries, & I'll do a quick skim of the first chapter! If a fic doesn't meet what you're looking for, you can send another ask or message me to let know I need to fix it!

- If you are looking for a fic you've lost, the more details the better! Include everything you remember! It makes it easier for me to find it!

- This is meant to be a library! This means that there will be fics that you personally don't enjoy, but others do! If you come across something that makes you queazy, I do my best to tag everything appropriately, so you can block whatever thing is making you feel that way!

Posts including mature or explicit fics will be tagged with #not suitable for minors! This also includes fics that are not rated!

If I include your story & you would prefer that I remove it, let me know! Just message me & let me know that you aren't comfortable having your story on here.

Meraki by FireFaceOutlook (General Audiences, Complete)

Dust made an executive decision as the one with the most sound mind (which wasn’t a position he ever imagined finding himself in): he would stay with Nightmare until he recovered, and Horror would take Cross and Killer back to his world so they weren’t overwhelmed by further side effects.

An fun fic, at least to read, as sick Nightmare is always neat to think about, mixed with DustMare as a lesser focus, I liked it! Although not a favorite ship of mine, the way the author wrote the characters, specifically Dust & his thoughts, & their interactions are appealing!

The progression of how Dust starts out, being able to handle the negativity of Nightmare's aura, to the end where it starts to overwhelm him, is very interesting. At first he can handle it, more used to such things than the rest of the gang, but it gets to a point where he's struggling, but at least able to function a little, only getting worse as it goes on, in contrast to Nightmare slowly getting better.

The ending scene, with Nightmare & Dust bathing together is probably my favorite bit, but I think that's because the idea of being able to doze off in a warm bath with no worry since I have someone to make sure nothing happens to me is very appealing.

You think there's no consequences to your actions. You think you're invincible. Just what made you come to that conclusion? ... Just what are you looking for? A one shot exploring Narrator!Chara's thoughts about your confusing tendencies towards senseless violence, and then some

A very very interesting portrayl of Chara's character, I really enjoyed reading it! I'm always a fan of explorations into how a character behaves & thinks, with Chara being a personal favorite of mine, so reading this was nice, especially with how the author went about writing them!

The formatting might not be for everybody, however, as the story appears as one chunk of text with no space between paragraphs, at least on mobile. I was able to read it pretty easily after getting used to the style, but I know it's not everyones cup of tea.

I love the authors usage of the word you. It didn't really occur to me that Chara was specifically calling out us, the player, until they say something about having Frisk speak for us. It's a concept that I'd love to see more of, exploring the player as an external being that can't truly be interacted with, at least not physically, & maybe not even meaningfully.

The knowledge that it's all a game to us, that nothing we do truly matters because in the end we can reset, & even start over fresh if we really wanted to, no deja vu or feelings of faniliarity. Yet we keep playing, either because of curiosity, searching for every little secret hidden, every route not taken, or because we simply can't let go of characters we've grown to know & love, despite knowing they're only npcs in a game, & they don't care about, or even know us.

Error's hands stopped what he was doing as he immediately faced Sans. “Sure, go ahead, you can ask me anything, Sans!” Error shot up, always eager to be of use to Sans. Anything, huh? Sans thought about it a moment, was he really going through with this? He usually didn't bother but when it came to Error it was different, love really made people foolish sometimes and Sans was proud to be in that majority.  “so I had been thinking… care to teach me those strings of yours?”  On a random Tuesday, Sans couldn't help but be drawn to how Error seemed to effortlessly use those blue strings. Sans had been curious about it for a while and decided to ask his hubby about it.

Wait." Swap gasped, breaking into a wide smile. "You like Classic!" Error vigorously shook his head. "What? No!" Error exclaimed. "There's no way!" Too late, Swap's eyes were now beaming. "Aww, that's so sweet! When are you going to ask him out?" "I don't-" Error's face was covered in blue hue, this went wrong, so wrong! Why does he keeping sharing secrets with Swap of all people? "Seriously, when are you going to take the first step?" Swap asked teasingly; he stopped watching the portal and is now focused on this revelation. "I can't," Error interjected, "I'll mess it up; better not do anything." Error turned his head away in embarrassment. Swap never felt his head turn to Error in such a speed. What? How is he not going to pursue his admirer? Not on his watch. After watching UnderNovela, Error Sans comes to a realization for his crush on Classic, but is too afraid to do anything—Not on Swap's watch!

Unsuspected Fangirl by Passpartoot (General Audiences, Complete)

The resets are the same as always, except Sans's hoodie has disappeared. That wasn't supposed to happen. While discussing what could've happened with Frisk, they saw a certain glitchy portal open up. Sans goes to investigate. or: Classic learns about the AU's, asks Error on a date. LET MY MAN BE HAPPY 3

A dirty glitch slips from Error's grasp, taking Classic Papyrus and leaving chaos in its wake. Sans accompanies Error in attempting to stop the anomaly before further damage is done, and to help save his brother. Error could salvage this mess. He had to. But he didn't realize he needed Sans to salvage him, and perhaps the other way around.

"hey bro.” Sans greets, opening one eye as if there wasn't someone hugging him like an octopus. “Sans who is that?” Sans blinks for a moment, eyelights flickering at Papyrus’ face and onto the monster, a skeleton now that Papyrus had taken a good look at the guy, and just shrugged. This just made Papyrus even more confused than ever. Quite the odd incident to be happening in a random saturday morning. Or Sans and Error are happily together. A pretty well kept secret that is. Eventually it does need to be revealed to Papyrus in one of the weirder ways. Please say thank you to that unlocked door! (Ps. I Physically write Error having glitchy dialog bcs it's rather so fun to type and do like "wo—wo-ah..")

Strings of Fate - A ClassicError Fanfic by SerenitysVow (Not Rated, Uncomplete)

Too many AUs are appearing at once, the multiverse is starting to get crowded too quickly, there isn’t enough time for it to expand. Looks like Error has some more work to do today, however he wasn't expecting to meet a certain someone.

The Collector of Broken Things by Redacted_Writer (Mature, Complete)

Classic knew of the AU's. He simply never thought he would meet anyone until that one fateful day, when Nightmare offered his hand. It was the best choice he would ever make, taking the offer.

It's Almost Like a Dream by Butters_Andwich (Teen And Up Audiences, Complete)

Most people dream about meeting their celebrity crush. Such a unrealistic fantasy for most, but for Error, it came into reality in the best way possible.

Light Reading by Omoni (Teen And Up, Complete)

Undyne accidentally discovers one of Alphys's old notebooks - and suddenly can't stop reading.

A very sweet short fic, I like the way the author went about it a lot. The concept is really cute, giving us glimpses into how Alphys felt before she & Undyne entered a romantic relationship. Of course, we as the reader likely already know, but it's fun to have Undyne, who wouldn't know, explore those emotions.

I really like Undyne owning up to snooping through Alphys' journal. She didn't technically have to, she could've pretended like she had seen nothing. But, instead, not only did she confess to reading it, she offered her own personal writings, for a term, as well. I don't know, I just think it's kinda sweet.

The Person Who Came is Not the Best Person by EmeraldArt (General Audiences, Complete)

“You see, that’s it. You say everyone is capable of good and evil, but that’s not true. Some people try and try and try and they’re good. Some people try and try and try and everything breaks. That’s life, Frisk. Don’t you understand? ‘No, I don’t,’ you whisper, ‘Chara.’ The first fallen human is dead. ‘I’m right, aren’t I?’ The first fallen human is dead. ‘It’s okay, Char-‘ It’s not okay! How could you ever think any of this is okay?” Or: Frisk properly meets the voice in their head.

A very intriguing story, I love the way the author wrote this fic! Chara is a favorite of mine, & the way they're characterized is amazing! The way they & Frisk interact is also something I really liked, & I need to read more works like this.

Although it got a little confusing at some parts, though that may have been just me getting a bit distracted by other things, I am such a big fan of how the author went about Chara being the narrator that guides Frisk through the game! It's something I didn't know I needed & their execution of it hits so well!

A silly short fic, I think it's pretty neat! The concept is a fun one, especially considering Error's character, & I like the way the author went about writing him, as well as his interactions with the other characters.

I really liked the relationship the author showed between Error & Swap, as it's amusing to read about Swap being the driving force behind everything Error does in the story.

Of course he wouldn't realize he's got a crush, he would definitely need someone to point it out to him. Why bother asking someone on a date when kidnapping them gets you their company quicker? Right, because that's not a good idea. I don't know, it all just feels very fitting.

There You Are! by TellTaleKael (Teen And Up, Complete)

Axe looked down at the tiny human clinging to his arm, so soft and vulnerable. Did he know her? He couldn’t quite remember. “Please help me?” she whispered. “There’s a man following me.” Oh.

A nice hurt/comfort fic, it's nice to read something with Horror, or Axe in this case, as the main point of view. I can't say the concept is a favorite of mine, as it hits a little too close to some of my anxieties, but it is enjoyable nonetheless, to see someone protecting a stranger that asks for help.

I like the interactions between Axe & the reader, as the personality the author gave the characters is really interesting. Specifically Axe not even hesitating to protect the reader, despite them being strangers. Not to mention the way he goes about making sure the stalker won't bother the reader again.

Sorry To My Unknown Lover by Alexmcxa (Teen And Up, Complete)

You turned to Frisk, signing, “What size hot chocolate?” The child grinned again, signing for an extra-large. You snorted in amusement. Glancing over at Sans, you conveyed the silent question of whether or not you should grant the child’s request. Sans blinked, glad you weren’t just commandeering the kid from them. He nodded, and you turned to buy Frisk the hot chocolate.

A nice mostly lighthearted fic, the personality the author gave the reader is a fun one, I think. The way they interact with the characters is neat, especially since I'm a sucker for caretaker & protector type behavior in characters.

I like that you can interpret each section as its own short contained story, or as one big whole, with the reader meeting each one of them.

Like I said before, I enjoy how the reader acts, as it's not often I read stories where they have a distinct personality, as least not that I can recall. Them being passionate & protective, even with total strangers, is fun to read about.

Not Now by Kitt_Monroe (General Audiences, Complete)

You're always listening to them, even when all they're doing is crying, and you don't know what that means to them but it means a lot to you.

An interesting scenario where Frisk is able to hear Chara even outside of dialogue boxes, I think it's a really neat exploration of their characters!

Chara's behavior is really interesting to think about, as we see it from Frisk's perspective, so we don't technically know why they act the way they do. As a reader, though, we can infer why, which is neat!

Chara is always such an interesting character, & it's fascinating to see it from an outside perspective. Sure, we can reasonably guess why Chara is acting so upset at the way Toriel is attacking, but Frisk has no context as to why they're suddenly acting so differently from what they've... seen? heard? previously.

Chara plants a garden. It's symbolic, maybe.

A fun concept, as I'm a sucker for everyone lives fics, I very much enjoyed reading this. Chara's thought process is so interesting, & I like the direction the author took their character.

I love the conflict that Chara experiences, however brief the mentions are. It would be so easy to cling to the past, stay stagnant & wallow in the memories of what once was.

But they take creating something for the future into their own hands, quite literally, by building their garden. Something that requires time & patience & dedication, all for the hope that something will bloom.

A Little Unwell by LavenderInTheLimelight (General Audiences, Complete)

Cross has been watching you for a while now. Really, the only thing he could do now that Nightmare had called a truce with the Star Sanses. He’s getting real sick and tired of how little you take care of yourself. When you catch a rather nasty cold due to your carelessness, he finally snaps.

A short comfort fic, I enjoyed reading this! Perhaps not something everyone would enjoy, as it could come across as creepy if you think about it too hard, but I'm just here for the comfort!

I liked how the reader was described, as it was something I could imagine easily! Cross' behavior was also interesting to me, as what we're told of how he acts seems... perhaps not fitting, but understandable, if that makes sense? At least within the context of the universe that we're given.

Codes&Crushes by PurpleOrchid23 (General Audiences, Complete)

Error spies on Classic’s universe to pass time. Classic catches on one day. Things spiral from there.

A neat fic focusing on Error & his relationship, or rather lack thereof, with the original Sans, I liked it! Error seems very awkward all around & gives into his implulses easily, which an interpretation that I enjoy!

Classic's behavior is a bit more laid back for the most part, which isn't really to my taste, but I certainly wouldn't consider it bad!

I can imagine Error's reaction at realizing he forgot to say goodbye, especially after acting like he had in front of someone that totally isn't important to him.

Him spying on the original universe is also a fun idea, & having Classic notice him but not yet doing anything about is an interesting addition.

The Weight of It by orangyne (General Audiences, Complete)

You can’t understand how Toriel and Asgore have the benevolence to treat you like their child when Asriel is right there. Asriel, who compared to you is a saint. Asriel, who is so unconditionally loving and naïve. Asriel, when compared to you makes you look like a demon. Which you can’t exactly refute. Or in other words Chara dealing with accepting they're deserving of what they have.

An interesting take on what Chara's thought process might have been like before they died, I think it's very neat! I enjoy the author's, heh, characterization of them, as it's understandable, given what we know of them!

Their behavior is also really interesting to read about, as both it & their thoughts are not something that I commonly see! Sort of a mix of different interpretations, which I like.

I love the idea that Chara has, what I think are, intrusive thoughts! That they can recognize they're having these thoughts & step away from the situation, as seen with them leaving the room, is also really interesting!

I also enjoyed their interactions with Asriel, specifically them teasing him about being a crybaby, as it reminds me of my own siblings!

Immortal By Design by Anonymous (Teen And Up, Complete)

Living life as the God of Death was never meant to be easy. Burden with the power to kill, Reaper learned to live separate from mortals and other Gods. Do not get attached was his number one promise. What happens when said promise gets broken upon meeting the only living-thing that does not wilt under the touch of Death? Or Reaper and Geno meet for the first time.

A neat fic exploring Reaper & Geno's first meeting, I think the idea was well executed! The author did a good job depicting the awkwardness that would probably come with failing to kill someone who's supposed to die, especially when it's never happened before.

Although their interactions are a bit awkward, understandably, I still think their conversation is interesting to read, as their character dynamic is one that I enjoy!

I like how the author describes Geno's appearance, as well as Reaper's reaction to it, as he is indeed very bloody! As much as the author describes, perhaps not, but that's the fun of interpretations!

careful, he bites by - Scrap - Paper - (Teen And Up, Complete)

Cross was kinda boring, that much was obvious. Yet somehow he was interesting too. There was a lotta stuff that nobody really knew about him. Like how, oh yeah, he has FANGS. or: cross canonically has fangs and used to bite people, why doesn’t anybody talk about this

A very fun fic exploring an aspect of Cross that I think I've only seen written about a few times, I like the idea! Fangs are always such a good character design, so it's nice to see them being used, even if it's only for minor things.

I love Cross using his fangs to open the bottle of chocolate sauce, as I myself have the bad habit of using my teeth to help me open things, although unfortunately I have no fangs to make it easier.

I also liked the scene of Cross & Killer fighting, since it reminded me of my siblings fighting & taking it too far accidentally.

Scars of the Past by octowhirl (Teen And Up, Complete)

Scars, both mental and physical, never seem to truly go away. Just because monsters are now living on the surface, it doesn't mean Sans is happy. Happier, definitely, but not truly. He's just so tired of seeing the scar on his skull and constantly thinking about everything that happened because of it. But he's trying to get better. For you.

A very neat look into Horror's character, I think this is such an interesting character analysis! Admittedly, I don't usually think too hard about characters I enjoy, so seeing other people examine & look into the thought processes of a character is always so fun to me!

I love the detail of Horror hating his head wound & all that it represents, as usually all I see is a mention of maybe picking at the edge of the opening. Him trying to, I think, numb everything in his skull & drown out his thoughts using the water is also a unique take I've not seen before!
