I included this slide to touch on a key concern that needed to be addressed when writing for this specific niche on Youtube: copyright. I wasn't sure where else I could include it, and this information requires a fairly lengthy explanation, so I thought I'd put this slide directly after the introduction to the project and a slide about content strategy. I mainly just want to know if this slide is necessary, as I like it and I find the information on it to be important, but if too much of it seems redundant I can always just insert the most significant information on another slide.
i think that if you find the information to be important to include it. maybe keep the post important points form this slide and choose another way to design it? there is a lot of text on this slide which makes it busy. you could even maybe put the three points in their own shape to maybe break it up a bit.
Feedback 1
A have a section on my HTWG where I express the importance of consistency. I feel I have the information in a nice place and I feel the graphic is also put in a tangent way that the content creators understand the data. I feel, however that my color may be hindering. I chose black and white for the aesthetic of skate apparel, and the fact there isn't much color to begin with in my overall document. I don't know if that isn't good enough or if that is fine to be that way. I don't know if the exponential amount of information is too noisy and defeats the purpose of being easy to read. I'm basically conflicted haha
I really like how you include a visual representation of how consistency reflects in engagement. It really helps to get the point across effectively and with an impact.
tip/trick
a tip/ trick that I am offering is to see what is trending before they create their content. TikTok is the platform I am focusing on and I suggested that they look at what sounds are trending and what types of makeup looks are trending. I found that my creator's best videos were with trending sounds and looks. This can be applied to any platform as content that is trending usually is more popular.
Suggestions on how to graph data
To graph data in multiple, meaningful ways, I suggest creating several different types of graphs. I also suggest using the different graphs to showcase different comparisons between the aspects of the data. For example, with my project, I created a scatterplot to show how all of the data compared to each other, but I also plan to create bar graphs for each creator to visualize other trends in the data.
I also used two different types of graphs to give a scope of the data that I collected. this allowed me to compare data not only across one creator but also compare the three together as well.
Drafting
For me, getting started with writing a draft is the most difficult part of the whole process. I have trouble coming up with initial ideas, but once I think of an idea, they usually continue to flow in and the drafting process becomes easier. When I get really stuck, sometimes I will sort of sit and meditate with my thoughts and wait for ideas to flow to me. When I get overwhelmed with writing, I need to take a step back and think about the big picture and the whole process.
drafting is also the most difficult process for me as well and for the same reasons. looking at everything we've done so far and seeing what we want to do with it can be challenging and overwhelming. I love that you mediate on this to try and collect your thoughts. It is a great way to clean your mind and let it sort out all of your thoughts to get a good base idea you can work with.
How are you determining meaningful data.
I am determining meaning full data by collecting data on likes and comments and time of videos.
I will also include ratios between subscribers because more subs will increase viewer interaction.
All of my data directly relates to my research question.
I think this can give great insight into how people are interacting and the effects that different things like video length have on such engagement
share a small part of your notes from Chapter 3 (focused on the data section). how will these notes help you collect data?
The method I choose to collect my data will help as I approach that part of this project. I took notes about Quantitative vs Qualitative data to help me demonstrate my data in two ways both providing visuals in order to express the data.
I think a lot of us are using both qualitative and quantitative information. Seeing someone else's definition can definitely help people look at it from a different perspective which can help get a better understanding of the concept.
research question
my original research question was How do these creators continue to engage the audience after the October/Halloween/Spooky season?
I am focusing on special effects makeup artists who usually "go viral" during the Halloween season but I wanted to know how they keep up engagement outside of that season. I worded my initial question to focus on November data, which I will not be able to get in time for the project.
my new research question is how do special effects makeup artists keep their audience engaged outside of the Halloween season? this wording will allow me to look at data from the months leading up to October to get my data.
if you have any suggestions on how to further better my question please let me know!
Revision Advice #1
Hi everyone! I am looking for some advice on my spaces! I learned a lot within each one, but I want to make sure it makes sense and is easy to understand for my audience? Is there a space that I could possibly be missing based on your experiences?
this is very easy to follow and gives a great outline of your spaces while still staying professional and to the point
Revision Advice #3
Hi! This is my layout for my data, I organized it by day! Does the structure and style of the data meet the expectation? Should I add anything to make it more appealing or easier to understand? Is there enough data if I have 3 pages of this length?
I like your layout it brings color and fun to it while still clearly displaying all your data. I feel the amount doesn't matter compared to the quality of your data. If you have a bunch of small points with not a lot of description you arent going to get as much out of it then what you are displaying now.

For my design I have been racking my brain with a few decisions, for one I want to do a mind map of each digital space to really highlight the literacy within those spaces. The only thing is I wouldn’t be able to really expand on the information of the spaces without it looking a bit crowded. Then I started to focus on almost like a poster design that highlights the space and information, then the literacy and where each space belongs (physical/ digital).
I think this is a great idea to add to your project to show the differences and similarities of each platform. if you are still worried about it being too crowded you can add more to each subgroup on the main part of your project maybe. I know for one of our past projects I was worried about putting too much information in the graphic so I made one with a simple explanation and then went and did a PowerPoint slide for each subpoint so I could go more in-depth.
Who we are as an audience:
As an audience, we are college students who are around 18-25. Most of us are on Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, and X. A few of us probably also use Facebook, VSCO, tumblr (outside of this course), etc. Based on my interactions in this course, I assume that I watch similar content as the other students. I watch a lot of fashion videos, food reviews, story times, and crime/mystery videos. Since most of us are active on social media, we’re able to navigate the platforms well and interact with the creators.
This is a great look at who we are as a audience. I use the same platforms you mentioned and have similar interests. I also agree that our experience of growing up with social media has helped us when it comes to navigation which gives creators an upper hand while they are figuring out how to market content towards our age group.
Data that surprised me
a piece of data that surprised me was when I went to a farmers market over the weekend. I never realized how much information I was taking in at the same time. It is somewhat overwhelming when you look at all of it. It was also interesting to see all the information I put "on silent" or stuff that I am processing without even thinking about it.
Pivot Guide Part 1
For my pivot guide, I split it up into three steps for the intern to follow, or three tips for them to use. For this step, does the language I use make sense and if you were the intern would you be able to use the tips I provided to create a post similar to the ones I provided on the right side of the screen?
I think this is an effective design! it is easy to follow and gets the point and instructions across in a clear manor.
Red Bands Society Cancelled
I remember watching this show and thought it was cool and different. Though it was cancelled after one season and seemed to be forgotten about. I was definitely upset about this because the season ended with a huge cliff hanger and we never got answers. This was what really upset me about the cancellation.
I also was a fan of Red Bands Society though I didn't watch it until a couple years after it came out. The cliffhanger anger is the main focus of my angry fan responses and your prospective helped while trying to see if this was a reasonable route to go.
Outrage Posts
For my outrage posts, I tried to make them a but different. I was wondering if my posts are too broad. Here's two of my posts!
I like your posts but I can also see how they might be too broad. What I did to reduce the broadness of my reactions was make them all about a specific thing. I made all the reactions about the show being left on a cliffhanger to try and narrow it down.
