salem watched with gold eyes, he knew testing a god was risky business but as he had been learning some just liked the challenge, and they certainly liked when fear wasn’t shown. so with a cock of his head salem goot his answer and was able to live to see another day. that was a pretty much main goal for him on the hour as deadly creatures had been coming around. 

“i guess i should thank you for sparing me. i guess what they say about you isn’t so true. you aren’t all that bad.” he once again was pressing the luck he had. but a cat had nine lives…right?  “okay. that night be true. but i got down here somehow, right? maybe i am here for something. i’ve been known to be really good at helping.” he stated with a raised brow. “just ask my witch, i help her all the time.”

Hades’ eyes narrowed at the other, trying to decide if he should be impressed by the creature’s lack of fear, or annoyed by the amount it spoke. His brow furrowed at the comment about him not being as bad as others said, his hand curling into a fist. He truly hated the lies about him that seemed to spread far and wide. “I am not what mortals say in their lies,” he grumbled, his level of annoyance, and maybe a little bit of anger rising.

All this seemed to disappear in an instant the moment a witch was mentioned. “You’re witch?” He didn’t associate with witches. They were more Hecate’s thing, what with her being the Goddess of witchcraft, among other things. “You must have taken a wrong turn somewhere along the way to Hecate then.” Though that still didn’t explain how the other had managed to find their way into the Underworld alive.

“Unless of course one of those thin veils opened into my throne room,“ he muttered to himself, not realizing that he was now ignoring the other. “That would explain so much, but then how do I fix it?”

“the underworld. i knew i took a wrong turn out of candy land somewhere.” he smirked as he joked with the unpleasing god. “you can kill me if you want to but as i am a demon i am pretty sure i can go in and out of any place that i desire. it’s kind of the fun of us pesky creatures. the ability to slip through the tiniest of cracks and all.” salem did enjoy the look he got from the other man. “maybe you should loosen up a bit…make this place seem less…eh…dead.” another bad joke. salem had decided to work on how he wanted this form’s personality to be, with sabrina being the only one who can usually understand him… he didn’t know just how serious he wanted to be. “so, are you going to kill me or not?”

Hades raised a brow at the poor fools attempt at humor. Perhaps he was funny, and Hades simply lacked a sense of humor - or perhaps Hades just didn’t tolerate foolishness. The fact that the other revealed himself to be a demon, and stood his ground against the God seemed to mildly impress the immortal.

“So, are you going to kill me or not?” It was a damned good question. Hades sat in silence as he contemplated the query. His lip seemed to twitch as he thought about the many ways he could kill the creature before him, and in the next moment the corners of his lips turned downward in a frown as he thought about what his wife would say if she found out he’d killed someone who didn’t technically deserve it. 

“No.“ Was his simple answer as he looked away from the creature, and rubbed his forehead and sighed. What would his minions think of him if they found out that he had spared the creature. “But the Underworld is not meant for living beings.“
