Houses after a Break Up

Hufflepuff- Wonders what they did wrong, crying in bed and watches romance films, tissues in hand.

Ravenclaw- Wonders why is love not like how it is in books, why there is no happy ending. Eats ice cream or any other comfort food.

Slytherin- Will try and pretend everything is fine, that they don’t care and that they’re okay. But on the inside they’re crying and hurt.

Gryffindor- Goes through a stage of anger and will rant about all that happened. But then they’ll finally accept it and goes through a period of sadness.

Slytherin: Witty dialogue. Short chapters. Reading deep into the night. A plot twist that sends your heart racing. Cliffhangers. The soft thud as the book is closed. Beautiful cover designs.

Hufflepuff: The soft sound of a page being turned. Acknowledgements that thank the reader. Lines that sound like poetry. Characters that are achingly real, achingly human. An overflowing bookshelf.

Ravenclaw: Worn, cracked spines. The table of contents. Setting so well described that it feels as though you’re there. A bookmark nestled gently between the pages. Titles that only gain meaning once you finish.

Gryffindor: Dusty book jackets. Perspective changes. Foreshadowing chapter titles. A story that continues throughout a series. Lines that make you laugh out loud. A corner bent in a dog-ear.
