"I’ve been working my whole life to make the word ‘organic’ mean something. I lobbied for 20 years. I was hopeful when the National Organic Program was instituted in 2000. I saw an early version of the bill, two months before it was passed, and I’m telling you— it was awesome. But they gutted it. By the time they got done with it, 142 synthetics were lawfully permitted in the growing of ‘organic’ food."
I feel like this is reasonably in line with the new angle of my blog, in that they both involve caring for natural spaces and a dislike for manipulation.
After a Long Hiatus
I return to Tumblr after months, probably close to a year, or more, I'm not sure. I've missed the blogging, but found I didn't really have a lot to blog about until now.
For quite some time, I've been toying with trying out the "no poo" hair care method. It means you don't use any shampoo (or any commercial hair products) and after a while you have naturally healthy hair that looks fantastic, too. I've decided to follow in the footsteps of the few and take the plunge and go no poo.
Why now?
I'm out of shampoo
I'm about to move to Denver; it's super dry in Denver, and my hair is already crispier than it used to be, so this is something of a preemptive strike.
Due to the imminent move, this is my last week of work until I find a job in Denver; hopefully my hair will get itself together before I have to be a fully presentable human being again.
Commercial hair/cosmetic products are expensive, and harmful to the natural world in lots of ways.
I agree with the idea that the use of shampoo et al. perpetuates the "need" to use shampoo et al., and I don't appreciate being manipulated.
Therefore, this blog will henceforth chronicle my no poo journey, though some unrelated posts will undoubtedly work themselves in as I get back into the tumbling groove.
"Bad Dancer" by Yoko Ono, or Plastic Ono Band
She is such a good dancer, though.
Say what you like about the human condition, at least it usually doesn’t involve finding out that your friends were secretly spiders this whole time. I mean, as far as I know.
Ant-mimicking Jumping Spiders are unconcerned with your social problems.

"When you dress like that it’s like putting a steak in front of a dog; what do you expect?"
Peanut butter is basically my dog’s favorite thing in the world.
You know why she’s not even touching it?
I said “no.”

"After the eagle's trainer recovered the bird, university president Dr. William M. Wilson continued with the service, at one point urging students to become "eagles for Christ."
In other words, get led astray by the mindless repetition of an arrogant conviction until you eventually crash into an invisible construct."
I can't believe I haven't been doing some sort of countdown to Cycle Oregon.
:sigh: I guess if I'm being real, I've sucked at blogging in general lately...
For what it's worth, there are 2 days left in the countdown.
things are looking up. way up.
and then I realized, just the fact that she got to remain his friend makes me jealous.
