did some janky math (had a screenshot and a dream) with this shot and

in this shot, the mindflayer is, at the very least, about 18 times taller than 13 year old will. let's assume will was super super short, like 4'10 (or 147cm). anyway, since the mindflayer is a height of ~18 will byerses, our total height would be 18 x 147 = 2646 cm, which is TWENTY SIX METRES. that's about EIGHTY SEVEN FEET.

so yeah that's fucking insane anyway

the worst part about will going missing in the upside down is that he did everything right. he fell for NONE of the horror tropes. that boy made it home, saw it was empty—rang for his mom. locked the doors. when the door unlocked itself, he got a rifle and aimed. he literally DID EVERYTHING RIGHT and it still didn't matter because it's not just a matter of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time, it's that he's a 12 year old boy and an interdimensional horror is personally after his life. like that's so fucked up man

gets even more fucked up in season 2 because his instinct with his visions is to treat them as real, his instinct with the mind flayer is to run away from it, and his instinct is absolutely correct but he's told otherwise. like, against his own instincts, he trusts bob's advice when confronting the mind flayer and that very advice is what ultimately damns him. it makes me PHYSICALLY ILL, will byers im so so sorry

jonathan byers is 12 years old and hears about this horror movie called "the shining" so he bides his time until it comes out on video, rents it, and waits till joyce is asleep. unfortunately 8 year old will byers is awake and looking at him with particularly wide pleading eyes. jonathan figures they both like horror anyway and this catastrophically poor decision becomes a core memory which actually explains a lot about them when you think about it

they are probably going to kill el though. & i'll be so mad

maybe they'll keep it ambiguous though. like a hypothetical "3 waterfalls" thing.

i bet there's gonna be a scene where will sees vecna's backstory and goes "oh u were good all along!!" and then vecna's like "oh yeah um. My Bad guys i'd like to Repent" & its the power of friendship hahahah!!

i hope they don't do that though. especially hope will doesn't sympathise w/ his deadass abuser like i'd kill the duffer brothers
