I hope you look at the sunset and see how beautiful it is today. I hope you remember how nice the wind feels on your face. I hope you remember how nice it feels when you laugh. I hope you remember how it feels after a good cry. I hope you remember why you love your favourite songs, movies, books whatever makes you happy. I hope you remember how beautiful life is and how beautiful it is with you in it.
When I talk about who I used to be, I immortalise her, paint her as a saint, tell people lies and switch up what she truly was.
I'd say she was something of lost excellence, wounded by the world and tainted with morality. When all she was, was too young to see all she did.
I'd say she fell into prejudice after prejudice and felt judged by eyes that never lingered. But truthfully the only prejudice she fell into was that of perfection, one that left lightning tracks down her arms and glowy tears down her cheeks.
I'd say she prayed for forgiveness that never came and fell into despair and shrouded pain. When all she did was feed into lies of bad men and close her eyes during the sharp stings where they'd turn to violence.
I'd lie and overdramaticize myself for pity and love and care and affection that I never got and hated how much it validated me. I realised, as I got older that who I used to be and who I am now are one in the same, both living through peril and crying tears of agony, I realised that I'd never change and all I had been doing was telling people that I was pretty words and not a person.
I was telling people that my pain was a story in a book with a happy ending and as they leaned forward with their chins jutted and their faces eager to hear the happy ending, I'd falter for my story hadn't even begun for it to end. And I'd smile and I'd say, the end is yet to come and I'd smile at the thought of freedom. Freedom that still feels like a fabricated reality in my head, for it is still hidden in its own coven.
I realise I have time to look, later will come and my current reality will sink. and then, my happy ending will arrive.
