THIS MYTH IS HARD ON THE BODY— the body as open, the body as closed & the body as asunder. [..] is someone inside of you? you can only answer sometimes.
CANON DIVERGENT LYDIA MARTIN, extremely anti-teen wolf. private, prose-focused & only writes with mutuals. heavy content featured on this blog, please read the pinned post prior to following. have written this character for over a decade & she is original in almost every way. heavily inspired by gaelic mythology, rife with nsfw content & only interacts with those over the age of 21. crafted by jamie (previously koré, seph).

i have one reply to do here, so not a lot going on (but i'll get on that), i do need more threads and i'm happy to start them and plot them out! i'm between here and lydia, lydia is a lot easier for me to write so i can churn out things much quicker on her (and trust me, mentioning she's from teen wolf is something i do only by obligation if you recognize the name, she's nothing like any of that show lmao) so consider following me on @martyroshka
i'm here, don't have a huge amount to reply to on here and so i'll be between this and @martyroshka: i'm going to get back to people on discord, sorry for leaving you all hanging since december but i have not been in the mood to socialize and my job got overwhelming!!

MAI DAVIKA FOR BVLGARI
idiot . a rather fitting description , considering his idiotic , reckless act of rushing into a horde of feral ghouls with nothing but a volcanic rage and a dream of questionable origin . it's a miracle he's still in one piece , but it's only a matter of time before his luck will run out . thankfully , six quickly comes to his rescue before that can happen , and slices through the pile of ghouls that are clawing at him , eager to devour him whole . they cut through the walking corpses like a knife through butter , and once all that remains is carnage , gus takes a second to take a deep breath as he lays on his back , attempting to come back from the rush of adrenaline that kept him alive .
it takes him a moment to get up to his feet . the courier scolds him by slapping his arm , but he doesn't fight it , fully knowing that he damn well deserved it . it was a lapse of judgement and nearly cost him his life . he should very well be dead right now . he's lucky to be alive , and damn lucky that six likes him enough to keep him around . he recognizes that , in any moment , they could easily end him if they wanted to , just like those ghouls . though , he finds that he doesn't fear them for it ... he admires them for it .
for a second , all he can feel is embarrassment for allowing his anger to get the best of him , especially in front of someone like six , whom he's taken a liking to ... unfortunately more than originally planned . his head hangs , although not for long , only to be interrupted by more growls by the remaining horde inside .
with another deep breath , he pulls out his 10mm from his holster , picking off them one by one with a couple shots here and there . he doesn't allow the courier to leave his peripheral vision , making sure that they don't get into trouble like he just did .
the rest of the encounter goes as smoothly as it possibly can . with nothing else left living within the train car besides the duo and their canine companion , gus slowly moves further inside , scanning the environment for any loot left for the picking .
he doesn't find much , but he does find a footlocker with some ammunition and a can of pork n' beans . picking up the can , he stretches out his arm towards six , motioning for them to take it .
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ" it's all yers , six . "
something shifts—clicks—a sudden change of gears. uninformed rage churns the survival instinct, so often defined by violence & butchery, rises to the surface. the less human the creatures appear, the easier it becomes to keep them at a distance. they don’t scream. they don’t protest. they hurl their bodies forward with a weighty disregard for safety or self-preservation, bones snapping, jaws stretching past their limits as ligaments strain & tear.
in truth, the courier defaulted to rage more readily than anything else. it sat deep inside them, familiar & difficult to define as entirely unwelcome; being forced to surrender control. the serrated blade rend (tooth-like edges biting without pause) an appalling disruption that catalogs every way a body can be torn apart [..] even when they fell still, it did not always mean they stopped. physicality as it debases them, brimming with the devolving rage as it eats into the sense of self.
heavy-handed; they retrieved the food from gus, tucking it away without thought as they dropped down from the gutted train carcass onto the gravel-choked tracks below. old-world places like this are often overrun with ghouls, keeping to the shadows & lingering far from the settlements— consented, knowing exile.
“ leave them, ” they breathed, calloused hands resting on the chain-link gate that led down into the subway. there would always be more. the courier lived by a simple creed: live & let live (where possible). rex panted beside them, tongue lolloping as his snout brushed along the outside of the courier's leg, following along, cool metal transition from the neck hinge snagged the leather & a rumbling half-purr crept up from his throat.
“ ...but if we have to, ” one hand closed around the long broken lock of the fence, rusted through from radioactive rain. dirt-stained fingernails flick the clasp of where the key latch slides to obscure it & they peer briefly into the ominously juddering lights of the subways maw. “ th-think we can get what we need... ” words hesitate, stalling; a deep frustration at the way their mouth translates the misfires from the prickling disfigurement of the skull. a vague gesture toward the ground-level station— floor disseminated with skeletons, blurred beyond recognition by decomposition; mulched bursts of once-colorful paper ground into the dirt & despairing concrete. their attention turns, a tight whistle echoes from the purse of lips as rex bounds up the stairs to the station, nails stripping & scratching the besmirched, sodden flagstones.
you haven't told him the truth, have you? guilt inches, flinching at the sight of you. the ache in your shoulder has turned to something else. you can't function without med-x. has he noticed? the arm that you hold, almost uselessly tucked & impassioned in every agonizing movement. you know about rot, courier. it lives in you.

I'll be working on my blog and stuff today, I'm clearing my inbox- i didn't really have any threads going on and don't expect anyone to want to continue anything, so let's start over.
I'll sort out who's mutuals and etc later but! Yeah I'll start on things here now cause I'm in the mood and need to pull my finger out
I'll be around tonight after I've done some adult things like tidy the house for my girlfriend coming home but my plan is entirely writing, plotting and docs. ✨
A comeliness that was woefully plain, a simple beauty not unlike that of a setting sun or blossoming January bud. Russet-cheeked and tawny-browed, he'd not been able to hear her sweet inflection for himself before it had been wrenched away, gouged — snuffed by the frost-bitten gale of another's rigid murmuring somewhere within that floral den. The rattlesnake had roused from the depths of her burrow, no doubt, hissing at her lone and quivering mouse with a single shrill and vitriolic note.
Jesse returned his hat to its unkempt bed of curls, coyote smile extolling air that was warm, heady, tobacco-tinged. He said nothing, but followed the timid shadow of his escort like a desert cur to the morose swells of her Lady's skirts, incandescent and sheer before the restless flames of her hearth, like the first frost of the season.
"Miss Nancy, ma'am," mused the cowboy. But the girl was gone before his vulgar eye could ever chase her away.
She likely knew better, thought Jesse. The tempest had only just begun to bluster, slurring, unseemly thereupon her sullen perch — the seat of her esteemed melancholy comprised of snow-white taffeta and ivory silk, amber beads of sour whisky and cerulean eyes underlined by luscious indigo. Her blonde hair was tousled, no doubt a reflection of her mind, and all decorum had abandoned her pretty shape completely. It was the difference between a proud and billowing summer oak, bare-limbed and feeble come the wintertide.
"Ain't you a sight for sore eyes," tactfully spoken alongside a tip of his brim. "They done told me you was pretty but.. Well, that accent could drive a sane man wild." The lacquered floorboards ache beneath his cumbersome brawn as he shifts, stocky neck rotating with delay, hawk-eyes wandering "Beautiful home you got yerself. Real highbrow."
" tell me vulture— are you deaf, or do you need to work on those listenin' skills o' yours? " a sardonic southern riposte, earthy & gravel laden than the sharp tone of the rest. attention dips from his face to his shoes on her floor; a forming sneer & grimacing exhale of malcontent before the hand that cuffed the heavy-bottomed, lowball glass rose; the amber liquid swirling as it took chase of the mourning past her lips. the burn of the whiskey was familiar (comforting, like an old friend)— but it didn’t erase the ache, just blurred it.
" i'll ask again, darling. what do you want with a pretty thing like me? " the bloodshot & tender undertones of her waterline contrast the hiemal blues of her iris. eidolon of the woman; alabaster in the flesh gathering of her skirt as barbiturate satin to bare rocking & entangled limbs at the cusp of her knees. mazzard staining of the mouth, pip to encircling stem as her tongue slithers back & forth the impoverished compulsion.
the scent of her is indiscernible but epicurean (eye watering with the nostril burning liquor); rose-petals soaked in scalding waters & lingering full-body as if to swill his mouth with nostalgia as wine. the home itself feels far from lived in; a place where grit meets grace, where prosperity wears dust-covered boots & where beauty unfolds in every sunlit board & wind-stirred blossom. something voracious in an empty womb [..] it has not known children.
half-full bottle is clunked indelicately on the pine polish of the table, hand still white-knuckled & nursing the dregs in the glass. her body angles towards him, a blush of intoxication beginning to burgeon the bridge of her fine cut nose & glissades down to a grit mandible of crowns. the culpable flesh of her sinks in silence & somewhat kindling amusement as skeins of tarnished gold cascade bare shoulders.

'But all to be found was her mountain laurel crown. Still tangled with strands of burnt-birch down,' @unholywood, ✩.
“This it?” said a man from the rear.
The coachman drew the horses to an uneasy halt by the roadside, onto an arid, unprosperous stretch of land. It looked as though there were miles of nothing but poplar and mulberry sprung above smudges of dried thatch and weed. Sparse clusters of sweetspire kept their heads against the capricious gale while the driver steadied his reins.
“Yessir, tha’s it——- behind all them trees. I kept my word, son, I ‘spect you t’do the same now.”
The ground was dry, compact, and beneath his heeled boots, unyielding. The horses idly whinnied. “I ain’t gon’ swindle you, ol’ fella. Not today.”
Beyond its wild purlieu, the grounds were well-kept with regard to their expansive size; rolling hills with swaying sugar maple, aster and beeblossom, broad oaks with their stout and sprawling roots interwoven with verdant earth. Birdsong accompanied his walk along the property's bosom to its staid facade, doorway trimmed with ornately carved oak and embellished by over-grown, oblong topiaries in fat-bellied limestone pots. His thick finger rang the bell once then twice, before a brown-eyed waif finally answered the door.
Jesse removed his hat and held it to his chest. "Pardon th'intrusion. I ain't one t'bother folks from their home but, well.. Lady-of-the-house around, sweet-pea?"
stray wisps of hair clung to the ruddy, sweat-tormented flesh of her cheek as she regarded him with a gaze both civil & circumspect; her fingers quivering where they pressed against the weathered, peeling edge of the door. the homespun upon her frame bore the marks of many mended seams, each stitch wrought by dutiful hands— plain, yet kept with a sort of humble pride.
“ the lady of the house— ” her speech was severed, as though by a blade, by another voice—cool, crisp & commanding.
“ allow him entry, nancy. ” the english tone drifted from the dim threshold beyond, soft in sound yet brooking no debate. at once the girl obeyed, retreating with the door, mindful to escape the trespass of his shadow as it crept across the hall. the manor around them stood stately still, though its grandeur rested upon the labors of weary souls—calloused palms, split knuckles & bent backs striving ceaselessly to stave off the advance of creeping decay.
silk & taffeta— pale as mourning shrouds, draped the woman within; such vestments clung to her like frost, accentuating the cold, bluish cast of her flesh. lissom-limbed, she reclined upon the upholstered seating, bare feet planted upon the low table before her [..] a bottle of whisky half veiled by the folds of her gown as though it, too, sought refuge.
“ what do you want, carrion-bird? ” slurred [..] rattle-like from the teeth. her eyes, dulled & half-lucid, wandered not to him but to the mantle’s somber ornaments. to claim she had love(d) her late husband in full would stretch the truth; yet to say she had not loved him at all would be a falsehood of equal measure.

what would a healthy, well-adjusted person do? / @neuroslayyer for Yui!
yui laughs (constricted), unbeknownst to her if she finds it funny or not; it seems the right thing to do in a laboring incredulity. it settles shorter than she intended before she realizes this is a question, the inflection needs an answer. the amusement is unsettled, dissipating just as so; oh, she's serious.
“ do you know any? ” her tone is flat & sardonic. she pops her lips, the gloss still tacky & dissipating unevenly as she does so. in her garage, there's an uncomfortable facet of mortality [..] so morality steps in, tearing the t from the word & spitting it back in her face. revenge sidles with glee.
“ he tried to kill me. i have another race with him, he'll try again. i'm not in the business of killing people for the sake of it, but self-defense is fair. ” the palate of what is fair seems washed in her mouth, simultaneously burning & icy as menthol.
“ i had road rash on my pussy for weeks. ” soft olive features contort to a grimace. this is the blase for almost murder, the casual remark of the now outsourcing victim of someone who wants her dead. on the bonnet of the car, hands grasp at her wrists to pull them in a tuck beneath her as she sits up onto her ankles & oscillates against the rotation of hips. “ so i think we should do it together, neuroslayyer. i'll get close. you hack his ride. ” all white, all gums; the grin is wide but doesn't quite meet her eyes in the negotiation (pending familiarity).
lake shore drive, us-41 [..] white-knuckled on the throttle, sharp & determined eyes barely discernible beneath the iridium visor. pick up before cloud gate. time to pedestrianize this. the addendum of weight is what yui considers the most, her style & skill is predominant for her weight class. she must subvert this.
in leering darkness, the sidewalk is relatively bare. one hand grapples the arm of the slightest silhouette. finger less gloves & acrylic adorned in the snatching close of grasp (@kuniho). the engine groans briefly at the altering weight & less attentive control, a spark against the floor as the concrete grazes the lower fairing. one hand grasps the left throttle, counter weighting as much as possible with the acceleration going wide to erroneous complaint.
“ get on loser! ” joviality colors her exclaim; moderately muffled by the padding of the helmet, as she briefly clicks her visor open. thighs & calves take the brunt of their weight, haphazardly interlocking the girls arms at her waist & ignoring the erring heat of the wheels in leathers against the side of her leg at the flat-spotting.
nearby, another engine— pulls in beside them both, now picking up pace down towards millennium park. glancing back, she's aware the other driver is looking to take her & her newly acquired passenger out. lifting her leg, the underside of her shoe grazes in a downward, circular motion into the grated footrest & reveals the pointed titanium heel that flips into place.
“ くそくらえ. ” grit in the overbite of exclamation; sounded, kuso kurae— eat shit. the side-swipe is brutal, but expected. both hands fix on the grips to brace, straightening the subframe as she leans to support it, sternum to the fuel tank to occlude it with very little jarring of the wheels. veering across, brake-checking without hesitation & turning back to kick & break the caliper of the competitor with the titanium spike that breaks away from her boot as she retracts. what's a race without a brake? a hot lap. they can't slow themselves down, panic erodes their physicality & seats them firmly out of control- but more importantly, out of the race [..] yui flips a long, heavily adorned middle finger as adieu.
