Insignificance of this world
We live as if we’ll never die. Then when we die, and it is as if we never lived: Ali Ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه said:
❝The world is moving away from us, and the Hereafter is coming closer towards us and each one of them has sons. So, be from the sons of the Hereafter, and do not be from the sons of the world. For today (is the time) for action and no Judgment; but tomorrow is (only) Judgment and no action.❞

STORY – THE TEMPTATION
A very beautiful daughter of very rich man in a certain community stepped out of her house to visit her aunt, who lived no more than a few streets away. Suddenly a riot erupted as she had gone halfway and she found herself trapped with apparently nowhere to go. She saw a Masjid nearby and quickly went inside.
Sitting in the women’s section The rioting continued late into the night and this girl did not know what to do. The custodian of the Masjid was a very young student there and late at night when he walked through the Masjid before locking up he noticed this beautiful young lady.
He was a respectful young man who feared Allah and so politely asked her to leave saying that if she was found there then both would be dishonored and thrown out. She pleaded with him because of the extreme danger outside and so he agreed that she could spend the night, and sat down to study at the opposite end of the Masjid.
The girl was unable to sleep with the events of the day. In her mind and so watched the young man sitting studying by candle light at the opposite end of the Masjid. She kept watching him and was very surprised at something she saw. From time to time this young man would extend his hand and keep it over the open flame. Only withdrawing it when the flame obviously became unbearable. He then would resume his studies and continued this throughout The night until the dawn broke. The young men call the adhan and asked the girl to leave before the congregation started coming to pray since now everything was calm outside.
She agreed on the condition that he tell her why he was placing his hand on the candle flame throughout the night. The young man said that was his own business and so the girl refused to leave until he told her what she wanted to know.
The young man gave in and said, “I am at the age youth and strong desire. We were alone and my desire was increasing, and although I was studying the shaytan would occasionally put temptation in my heart. Hence whenever I would feel any temptation I would put my hand on the flame and my fingers would burn. I would say to myself that this flame is nothing compared to the fire of Hell.”
The girl left the Masjid and reached home, calming her parents’ fears as to what had happened to her. She also confided in her mother that she wanted to marry custodian of the Masjid near their house.
She related the night’s events to her parents and said that only such a man with true fear of Allah in his heart can be true to his wife. Only such a man who truly fears Allah can fulfill a wife’s rights properly. Hence the poor custodian of the Masjid earned the daughter of a rich household in marriage. He received this honor not because of his looks but because of his Character!
Everything disintegrates and turns to dust but character remains strong. Honor is not bestowed because of good looks, clothes or beautiful jewelery but because of what is in the heart.
ليتحقَّق المؤمن من نجاح رحلته في هذه الحياة فعليه أن ينصب الهدف أنه إذا وصل إلى الله وصل إلى كلِّ شيء، إذا وصل إلى الله رزق السكينة، فالسكينة جند من جنود الله يقذفها الله في قلب المؤمن ليسعد بها ولو فقد كل شيء،
The believer in his journey to Allah must be away from any intervention of the pleasures of the world, in order that if he/she has arrived to Allah, he would arrive to everything, as this tranquility which Allah has put in the believer’s heart would make him happy even if he has lost everything.
سعد بها إبراهيم ﷺ وهو في النار، وسعد بها يونس ﷺ وهو في بطن الحوت، وسعد بها النبي ﷺ وهو في الغار، وسعد بها أصحاب الكهف وهم في الكهف،
The prophet Ibrahim was happy in this tranquility when he was thrown in the fire, the prophet Yunus was happy in it when he was in the belly of the whale, the Prophet (PBUH) was happy in it while he was in the cave, and the people of cave were happy in it while they were in the cave
تسعد بها ولو فقدت كل شيء وتشقى بفقدها ولو ملكت كل شيء،
so, you would be happy in this tranquility even if you have lost everything, and you would be miserable by losing it even if you owned everything.
فالإنسان إذا وصل إلى الله وصل إلى كل شيء:
If a person has reached to Allah, he would reach to everything:
ورد في اﻷثر أن الله ﷻ يقول: “ يابن آدم اطلبني تجدني، فإذا وجدتني وجدت كل شيء، وإن فتك فاتك كل شيء، وأنا أحب إليك من كل شيء”
It was narrated that Allah said: (O son of Adam, call Me and you’ll find Me, and then if you have found Me, you would find everything, but if you have missed Me, you would miss everything, that you should love Me more than everything)).

"Friends will enter Jannah together" 😭
“But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups.” [39:73]
Ibn al-Qayyim said:
“Allah will refuse for people to enter Jannah individually, and so every group of friends will enter Jannah together.”
I advise anyone who’s serious about seeking knowledge to make it your priority to memorize the Quran. Too many of us claim to seek knowledge but are barely scraping by with juz amma or juz tabaarak. Yet we are quick to speak on issues that the scholars are shy of speaking on. Be a baby for a little longer. Humble yourself and start from the beginning.

al-Basīr (The All-Seeing) The One who sees all things even if they can be insignificant and minute. He sees the black ant on a black stone in a black night. He sees what is below the seventh earth and what is above who deserve recompense, in accordance to the dictates of His wisdom. ۞ قُلْ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْ ذَٰلِكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَأَزْوَاجٌ مُطَهَّرَةٌ وَرِضْوَانٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ Say: Shall I inform you of things far better than that. For the pious and God-fearing are Gardens with their Lord underneath which rivers flow, remaining in them eternally, and pure wives, and the pleasure of Allāh. Allāh is the Basīr of His slaves.
Qur'ān (3:15)
لَن تَنفَعَكُمْ أَرْحَامُكُمْ وَلَا أَوْلَادُكُمْ ۚ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
Neither you relatives nor your children will benefit on the Day of Resurrection. He will judge between you, and Allāh is Basīr of what you do.

Soft Poison
It is reported that ‘Alî b. Abî Tâlib wrote to Salmâm Al-Farsî – Allâh be pleased with them both – saying:
The likeness of this worldly life (dunyâ) is that of a snake: soft to the touch, it will kill you with its poison. So turn away from what impresses you of it, since what stays with you is so little. And do not be concerned about it, since you are certain about its parting. And be most happy in it when you are most heedful of it; for every time its companion takes solace in one of its delights, it gives way to one of its woes. Was-Salâm.

When I have a daughter, I will teach her to love the Qur'an the way my mama loves it. She sits with it three times a day and radiates the house with its light when she wakes up to recite it at 3.30 in the morning. She fills her heart with it when grieving and tightens her grip around it when the ground shakes so hard under her feet. I will teach my daughter that my mama taught me that patience and persistence are the keys to build a lifelong meaningful companionship with the Qur'an. If there’s only one thing I could wish for my daughter, I’d want her to love the Qur'an like my mama loves it because her bones itch with discomfort, her mind screams with dissatisfaction, and her heart beats with longing if she goes a day without her lifelong companion.
