Good food, good service, good company.
What's the epitome of a good time at a restaurant. So, it's been a young tradition that me and my good friends from poly go out after our last paper. And we make it a point to eat at a good place. For last semester, we went to have Zam Zam's murtabak at Arab St. area. And this time, we went back to Arab St. We satisfied the Mediterranean cravings at a Lebanese Restaurant called Gulf Beach Restaurant and Cafe. We simply took a stroll down Arab St, and checked out the menus and what the restaurants had to offer. Of course, walking straight pass any the sold alcohol.. And then we stumbled upon one. This Lebanese restaurant was actually a second choice, but it turned out to be good.
The host asked us we if we would like a sit outside or inside. Both of which seemed hot and stuffy. Then he mentioned there being an upstairs with AIRCON. So we jumped at that choice.
The upstairs was really cosy! What with all the low eating tables and the couches and cushions. It was real nice! They didn't mind that we wanted to take our order much later and they certainly didn't mind us sitting theier for two hours or so. We really felt at home! The staff was really patient and well-mannered! Our waiter even did not seem to mind that we knew nothing about the art or Leabanese cuisine and answered our every question. Because it was Ramadan, we even got a complimentary Lebanese soup. Somewhere in the iddle of our meal, we saw the waiter coming upstairs with a stroller and some bags. Then he went back down, and turns out, it belonged to a family that was dining there. Adding on to that, they checked our table once or twice more, asking if we wanted to order or needed anything else. Do you see what i mean by good service?
We ordered the Kebab Kofta, Farrouj Mechwi, and err another dish. Then we just split everything into three parts for the three of us to have a taste of. The food was good. I'd say that you come by when you're feeling adventurous and want to eat something new, rather than those days, where you just was a familiar and regular meal. How do in put it? Ok. You look at this piece of chicken, and you expect it to taste a certain way. But it doesn't! Because the style and types of ingredient used is something that we are not familiar with - Lebanese. Hahaha i'm feeling too dramatic. Anyways, on a whole, i thought that the food was good. Maybe even a lil above good.
As for the pricing, i would say it's a lil above our norm and regular eating budget. On a whole, the three of us had to fork out about $17 each. But i'd say that we'll be paying for the experience as well.
Yeah, some of the reviews for this place were not as wonderfully described, but hey, I had a good time!
But I definitely want to check out our first choice restaurant (right next to Gulf Beach Restaurant and Cafe), which were ALL reserved when we went down. Date, girls? Hehehehe
