It is the fourth year of my college and I think I am done with academia. No seriously, I think college no longer has monopoly over knowledge and internet has democratized every form of knowledge. The only thing they are good at is networking and peer-pressure driven growth- which isn't much of a return given social media has reduced networking costs too.
For research oriented institutes and universities though,well they are an essential part and the admission there will be purely decided by aptitude and curiosity. Rest of us who end us in corporate well it is going to be gate less opportunity which is a good thing but must scare the shit out of gated community residents like IIT( Indian version of Ivy League) students. And it does. But a fact is fact.
