It's a quiet day. Or night. Whatever your timezone is, it's quiet.
You're in your car. Or you're at work. Or at school. There's a radio station playing, sending its music and talk shows and advertisements to your ears.
Then, it crackles. Static fills the once-clear radio. No matter what you do, whether that be change the station or attempt to turn it off completely, you still hear the static.
"--ello? Hello?"
"Ah! Wonderful. You can hear me."
"Let's get this started, shall we?"

Information
Hello! This is the Creator speaking!
What is this?
This is an experimental ask blog where you can interact with your radio host(s?) and a cast of other guests!
Who are these characters?
All characters are created by yours truly. Some of them I've written about, while others I've yet to fully explore.
Why did you make this?
Why not?
What sort of answers can I find here?
Mostly writing answers! No art answers here, as I am not a visual artist.
Rules And Boundaries!
No NSFW. While I may be of age, not everyone who may tune in is!
Do NOT use my works for A.I. training purposes. Do not. I will hunt you down and block you.
Please don't expect instant answers. Writing takes time, and I have a busy life. This is made for fun!
Do not send problematic asks! They will be deleted!
Please make this a positive space! Don't start fighting with others here.
You may create/send fan content to me! Just be sure to tag me so I may see it!
Characters and settings are bound to change. This will (hopefully) be explained!
There may be dark topics that could be explored. I will tag and warn as they come by.
hello?? hello? is anyone there i think i’m lost..... it’s so dark i can’t even see the ground or my own hands... can you help me get out???
"Oh dear...listener? Can you hear us?" Akemi calls into the microphone. You can still hear her voice, wherever you are. The hosts didn't lie: MDMU 101.2 can reach you without signal interference.
"We don't know your circumstances, listener. So, if you can, try and stay put. If you're in danger, then I would highly suggest you try and find some help instead of listen to us prattle on," Jazz quietly suggests. "Try and get lower to the ground if you feel disoriented from this. We don't want you to get hurt. We, unfortunately, can't do much from our station."
"Ooo, this is tense," Akemi whispers. "Do you have any light source? Your mobile device perhaps?"
Hello there! New listener here. A question for the hosts: whats your favorite kind of pasta?
"Okay okay. Are we talking type of pasta, like the shape? Or we talking pasta dish?" Akemi clicks her tongue, and you can almost see her waggle her pointer finger at the microphone. "Details, dear listener!"
"We can always answer both, so we don't have to make you call back in and clarify. Phone bills can be expensive, especially with the economy nowadays..."
"Forget that for now! We're here to talk about pasta!"
You hear a thonk as something hits the microphone before Akemi clears her throat. "I like long pastas! Spaghetti, angel hair, fettuccine, et cetera. They're just so fun to slurp, and you can absolutely use chopsticks for them if you're too lazy to find a clean fork."
Jazz laughs at her answer. "You're insane! Eating Italian pastas with chopsticks? And I thought using chopsticks to eat chips out of the bag was weird enough for you."
"Hey! At least I don't let my food go cold by sticking elbow macaroni on the prongs of my fork!"
"H-hey! You weren't supposed to tell the listeners that!"
"Aw, too late!"
You heard Jazz sigh and grumble something under their breath before they collect themself. "Apologizes for that, dear listeners. While we're on the topic of pasta types, I enjoy elbow macaroni and shells. Though if these count, I'm particular towards stuffed pastas. Things like ravioli and tortellini. Especially if you put them with a tart tomato sauce or a creamy white sauce, then sprinkle some cheese on top...ah, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it."
"Now for pasta dishes --- "
"No, no. I can't start talking about pasta dishes when I've already made myself hungry. I don't want the microphone to pick up on my stomach growling. Imagine how embarrassing that'll be!"
* Silence crackles over the phone line. Noises can be heard in the background, but nothing is distinguishable. The caller hangs up after a minute of silence*
"Empty call?"
"Empty call."
A sigh. "And here I thought it was --- "
"Yeah. I thought it was who we were looking for as well."
A pause. You feel as if one of them is gazing at the other. "Missing him won't help --- "
"I made this radio show in an attempt to connect with others. I've always wanted to build good connections with other beings, but I was one of those quiet and shy kids.
"Uh, introverted, I think?
"Actually no. Mostly shy.
"I craved social interaction, but I've always fumbled over my words. I still do now, as evidenced earlier. But MDMU 101.2 is supposed to be a way for me to connect with others. Sure, we'll probably never see each other, and that's always a little disheartening. But I hope that through my voice, you'll get a little taste of what could've been."
Why did you join as co-host?
Akemi: "Me? As co-host?
"Hah!
"Honey, I could be host without the 'co-' prefix, but I didn't make this radio station. So it would be rude of me to steal the spotlight when it's unnecessary. Like, if the main host got sick with a sore throat? Sure! I'd love to be the host for a bit.
"But listen: I'm also a visual kinda gal. I want to show the listeners the way that we are. I want to show them cute latte art that I see. I want to show them the colors of our radio station without it being ambiguous to the mind.
"If Jazz is the one who built the radio station, then I'm the one who decorates it."
As the radio hosts get their things situated, a song starts to play. The equipment isn't not connected properly, so it doesn't broadcast on the radio quite yet. Still one can feel the way that the hosts' attitudes change.
"You have this song on your playlist?" Akemi asks. Her voice is best described as nonchalant, yet the question is heavy.
"It's a nice song," Jazz answers. There's a soft, fuzzy sound as microphones are connected and tested. "Not to mention the lyrics are rather melodic."
"All of them? Or the certain ones that we assigned to ourselves?"
A pause. Then, a quiet sigh. "Mostly the certain ones."
Akemi chuckles as she hums a part of the song. "You with the watercolor eyes~"
"You who bears your teeth in every smile," Jazz follows up.
The hosts softly laugh before an unsteady silence befalls the pair again. "Do you remember who we assigned 'You with the dark curls' to?" Jazz eventually asks.
"No, and it bothers me every. Single. Day." Akemi taps the countertop with a pen. "Do you also miss whoever that is?"
"Unfortunately I do." Jazz clears their throat. "But, isn't that also why we made this? To find that mysterious, dark-curled being?"
A pause. "Yeah. That's part of it."
As things are situated, the song starts to play through the speakers.
"Oh, so now we're talking about the deep things that people like talking about. Tryin' to get to know us better, huh listeners?" Akemi asks teasingly. "How cute."
Jazz clicks their tongue as they think for a moment. "If we're talking generics, and no brands are mentioned, then I'll admit that I have a soft spot for iced tea, and the combination of fries and some sort of soft serve."
"Oh, so you're a sweet and salty kinda being? I like it," Akemi says. "I'm more of a lemon-lime flavored carbonated drink kinda gal, and instant soups."
"What about you, dear listeners? What are your favorite type of fast food?"
"Wait were those instant or fast foods we just talked about?"
HEY I JUST FOUND THIS RADIO AND I DONT KNOW WHAT KINDA THEME YOU GUYS TRY TO KEEP BUT. ITS *eldritch noises that you can feel instead of hear fall out of the radio* MATING SEASON OH MY ECLISPE!!! LETS GOOOOOOO I LOVE THE LITTLE FIRESPARKS THEY EMIT WHEN THEY DO THEIR MATING DANCE… ITS SO CUTE… I LOBVE THEM <3333
"Oh dear. Oh my. Listener?" Akemi asks. "What's --- ugh! What's that feeling right now?" You can just tell that she shivered in surprise and disgust. "What's going on with you listener?"
"Spam call. Akemi, why did you answer that one?" Jazz hisses as they cut the call. "Mating season for anything is usually a bad time to get calls."
"Okay, but hear me out Jazz: That was a pure spam call."
"With that sort of noise? I know you also felt it in your bones."
"Touche, but --- "
"No 'buts'."
"Okay, I don't remember you claiming you had no cake."
Jazz lets out a defeated laugh. "No. Please don't."
hey siri how do I get rid of a spider infestation-- ah wait siri end call! stop call! ... uh hi
Akemi laughs at this strange caller, whose caller ID is nothing but a round, grey circle with cool sunglasses. "Spider infestation, dear listener? Oo, that's frightening! Are they big spiders or those small ones that eat flies?"
"Akemi! Why are you even asking? Spiders are nice for a healthy ecosystem, I admit. But you've probably never seen one with too many long legs start skittering towards you!" Jazz lets out an audible shudder. "It disappeared behind one of the cabinets and I never saw it again."
Hello! Just stumbled across this station, and we love the vibe!
"Why, thank you new listener! I'm glad you enjoy it," Jazz says.
"You say you love the vibe? Well, pray tell me: what 'vibe' does this station give off? I hope to aim for 'low stakes' and 'welcoming'. Maybe even cozy? My associate --- "
You hear a distant clatter as something hits another hard surface. It sounds like a pen hitting a countertop. You then hear a muffled laugh, like someone was trying not to do so in the first place.
"Ah, sorry. My close compadre, my best friend, dare I say, my co-host, would like to add that this is an 'exhilarating treat for the ears' --- "
"Oh, you're saying it wrong!" The brief screech of a microphone being switched on quickly fades into obscurity as a second voice pipes up. "MDMU 101.2 is a delight for the brain! It's a exhilarating treat for the ears, and a newfound system of entertainment for you!"
The second host giggles before they announce, "Hello listeners! You can call me Akemi! Co-host, compadre, best friend, a few other terms, and don't you dare dip me down to the level of associate Jazzy!"
Jazz chuckles. You can almost see an enamored smile. "Sorry Emi."
So. I spent a little too much time and not enough time on this.
Here's where you can find some information on our lovely hosts, and maybe the radio show (if and when I update it. Slowly).
Look out for secrets ;)
To satisfy both parties, I'll release a bare-bones info post about characters as we go along. Nothing much, just name and pronouns and a little you should know.
It'll be updated as information is revealed!
Now if my braincell can stop getting ahead of itself...
so jazz! what's the weather looking like? think it'll rain? very nice to meet you, by the way :]
"Oh, welcome back! It's nice to meet you too, dear listener. To be honest, I wasn't expecting a repeat caller. This is such a small and new radio station, and it's not as fancy as the others I've seen out there. But, uh, again! Welcome back."
Jazz clicks their tongue as they seem to look out the window. "The weather. Where I am, the weather seems okay. It's rather monotonous and vague. It sounds like it's raining somewhere, but not where I am."
Hello.I gotta say I am pretty intrigued by this blog 😁😁😁
"Oh! Another listener! Thank you for the call."
The host, whom you now know as Jazz, clicks their tongue. "A blog, you say? Well, I'm unsure what you mean by "this blog", dear listener, but as far as I'm aware, this is a radio show."
They sound a bit confused.
From beyond the microphone, it picks up on a rolling chair sliding over and whispers of someone.
"Oh! Thank you for clarifying." Jazz clears their throat before they say, "It may appear to be a blog on your end, listener. So, excuse me if I mistakenly call you listener, even if you aren't truly listening in a traditional sense."
