So for #FreakyFridays, I wanted to tell a story. I wanted to show what it looks like to live in your truth unapologetically. Women are constantly put down for being sexual beings, for enjoying something supposedly not meant for them, shit just for even dancing! Men can have a hundred sexual conquests in the making and they are praised for it. As soon as a woman wears a short skirt , twerks or looses their virginity she is no longer worthy of respect. From birth we are taught to sit with our legs squeezed together, to wear long pants and dresses so no one thinks we are inviting attention, to learn to fight for the commitment of a man and devote and confine ourselves to his pleasure and his pleasure only. Otherwise we are either prudes or dirty, filthy whores unworthy of love and respect. God forbid we please ourselves. God forbid we seek our own ecstasy. God forbid we enjoy our bodies, adorn our bodies, shake our asses , caress our curves. I want all femmes to own their bodies, to own their pleasure or at least full control of what they wear. Don't fear being labeled a whore or a slut for being unapologetically in love with yourself and devoted to your own pleasure. Wear those heels, cut your hair, grow your hair, do nude art , stare at your beautiful self in the mirror and love the fuck out if it. Street harassment left me uncomfortable as fuck with my body. It made me ashamed. It made me angry with the attention, the assumptions... I wouldn't want to dance at parties because my hips were the center of my soul and I didn't want that label. But now? Shit As you can see I'm unbothered AF with the word because guess what? I'm me. I'm happy. I'm safe. I belong to myself. I make my own choices. Society can not take my body away from me.
