The Truman Show lends itself so beautifully to an AU, that it almost feels in universe - at least when it comes to Chuck's voyeuristic manipulation. If you're unfamiliar with the source material (and you can absolutely read this without familiarity to the movie), the story is about a child raised in a reality show environment with no idea that everyone around him is an actor and his entire world is being manipulated.

In this story, Cas is an actor hired to play one of Dean’s friends, but their clear attraction to one another causes chaos with the intended Lisa-as-Dean's-girlfriend storyline (especially because Dean's bisexuality isn't in the plan). Added to that is Cas’ increasing discomfort because he isn't acting - his feelings are real.

There's some great meta about suppressing queerness in television, and of course who can resist a gay love piercing the veil storyline. Dean in this fic is deeply loveable and extremely lonely because his friends and family are never making true connections with him (and he doesn’t understand why). When he gets to close to someone, he loses them.

The characters outside the narrative, so to speak, are also just so messy and real and I love them all. Overall, it's a great fic that really pulls from both stories in a beautifully cohesive way.

Dean didn’t know how much longer he could do this. It was taking every ounce of his will to still his twitching fingers. The hunter was bathed in hues of silver, his jaw sharp under the light from the moon above them. His skin dewy, glistening like starlight. Dean couldn’t tear his eyes away, the sweat from the hunt beaded on the man’s forehead and he watched it trail slowly down the planes of his face.

Dean felt a hunger unlike anything he’d ever felt as he watched the hunter’s tongue dart out, eyes entranced by the movement. His lips were wet, slightly swollen from the blood that rushed to the man’s face.

He wanted to touch, to trace his finger along the curve of the hunter’s bottom lip, to taste the salt and iron on his tongue. He wanted to give in to every desire running through his veins. He wanted to press against him, to let himself fall into the haze his mind fogged over in. He wanted to hear the desperation curl from the hunter’s mouth, to hear him say his name over and over in a needy prayer.

He wanted to be swathed in the hunter’s skin, to watch the glow pass between their bodies. Dean wanted to be bathed in that same starlight.

Cas tries to leave them for the night to his own room but Dean keeps tugging on his sleeve and going 🥺 and whining. Cas acquiesces to be pulled onto Dean's bed where Dean curls up on top of him with his head on Cas’s chest.

Dog Dean stuck to the sides of Sam and Dude not wanting to stray. Laying at the foot of the bed “to keep watch” barking at strangers in the bar (they get kicked out, dude embarrassed to high hell) driving and stopping for every squirrel seen at the side of the road until Sam gets sick of it and has to drive. Much to deans annoyance. But he gets to stick his head out the window so he forgets quickly.

Boy, Tumblr… The journey I’ve had with this platform is interesting but I’m here to delve into my fandom obsessed mind.

Currently in my Supernatural era. (Please God, I need Dean Winchester to be real)

Working on a Dean/Male OC fanfic that follows the Season one plot. Basically a long love letter to my fiancée. Never ask me for a self insert unless you want something longer than Dune. (No seriously, it’s so long and not even halfway finished)
