How. Did Dream tell him? Did Punz see?

Did Dream have scars that had to be explained? Did he flinch about a simple movement and desperately explain that it wasn't anything Punz had done?

Or did he just tell him. Is he emotionless when he does, like it's just a information that his partner should know, is he thrown off by the crescent agitation in Punz's expression? Is he surprised when Punz is deeply horrified and worried for him?

For the people who liked my "c!Dream head bonks people" headcanon, here's a bit of rivals:

(tw: brief mention of self harm)

"What are you doing?"

Dream's head snapped up, the previously slightly fogged over eyes brightening in attention.

"What do you mean?"

Technoblade scoffed.

"Well, now you stopped doing it, nerd."

Dream huffs, rolling his eyes, and rests back against the obsidian wall.

He falls back into the movement seemingly unconsciously - a steady bonk, bonk, as he moves his head to the side, to bump lightly against Techno's shoulders.

The piglin considers asking about it again, but stops himself. It's not like it's causing any harm.

He doesn't want to startle the smaller hybrid into going back to old habits, his curiosity wasn't worth that. In the first few weeks, he had seen Dream doing it against obsidian walls, way more harshly. He had stepped in when he smelled blood.

(It feels like ages later, when they're both galloping away from that forsaken Prison, Techno's eyes glazed over as he grieves a young enderman hybrid, and Dream does it again.

He maneuvers his horse somehow, and Techno is startled from his thoughts by the harsh - without harming, he can tell - blow on his shoulder.

It's followed by a whispered and oh, so sincere, "Thank you.")

Dream does the head bonk thing.

It's not the light forehead bonks you will see Technoblade and Philza, or Tubbo and Ranboo doing.

He rams his head against people. Not necessarily against their heads, because he knows he can be harmful, sometimes he does it against their arms, their chest, where he can.

It's a comforting gesture to him, akin to hugging, blame his hybrid nature for that.

He's had to train himself to stop, because the gesture was always a tell of his feelings.

Not with everyone, though. He'd grown used to doing it with Punz. The mercenary never seemed to mind - as they got closer, playful gestures of affection became more common.

When Punz has to manhandle Dream, under the guise of helping Sam and the others to drag him to the Prison, he finds a way to thunk his head against his friend's.

No one questions it, thinking it's just an aggressive response, and if Dream's eyes are way less genuinely frantic, that's none of their business.

(When they meet again after months passed, to go back to their plans, Dream looks slightly wary, slightly wavering on his legs, and worse than he was ever supposed to, Punz pulls him into an embrace, and Dream rams his head against his shoulder. Punz reciprocates the gesture without hesitation.)

wish list for people who don’t want anything

aka possessions which are just possessions, but which have noticeably improved my quality of life: for when people ask you “what do you want for your birthday/Christmas/graduation” and you instantly transform into St Francis and pledge fealty to Lady Poverty because your mind went blank

nice. new. sheets. I cannot emphasize this one enough. if you’re still using the same sheets you had in college, you should probably get new ones. get yourself some 100% bamboo rayon sheets—they’re silky and perfect for summer and great for sensitive skin! or, if you’re cold all the time, flannel sheets!

kitchen knives. or even just one really good kitchen knife.

new curtains—blackout if you are a creature of the night like I am

fleece lined anything, but especially sweatpants and hoodies. wool lined socks are also good. if you don’t have the option of coming home after work and putting on an entire outfit that is loose and fuzzy, you should change that, because you deserve that option.

cookie sheets with a layer of air between the top and the bottom. the bottoms of your cookies will never burn again.

kitchen scale!!! no more leveling off flour with a knife and getting it all over the table!! now all your measuring is just shoveling stuff in and out of bowls like you’re at the beach. baking is both more accurate and also way more fun.

coffee bean grinder. if you want to upgrade your coffee experience, this is a great one-time purchase. just-ground beans have a much better flavor than pre-ground.

CDs!! ask for a gift card and expand your physical music collection! or a collection of the DVDs for your favorite show!

Good luggage. Whether it’s a suitcase or a duffel bag or even just packing cubes, it’s all helpful!

Good art. If it’s someone you trust, you can ask them to surprise you with a piece they like, otherwise you can have a few back up suggestions of ideas (I saw a framed piece of just the hands from Michaelangelo’s The Creation of Man and have not forgot about it since)

Good good pillows or fluffy blankets to go along with those nice new sheets from above

Office supplies. Pens, markers, sharpies. All the sharpies.

Coffee travel mugs (can one have too many?). If they say they still want more ideas, also ask for a bag of their favorite beans/tea

Look around your house, what do you have that is still from college? Ask for a better one of those.

I can't believe I'm writing this. In light of S1 DSMP ending I want to say a couple of words about c!Punz, because boy oh boy I have stuff to say.

(I won't call it an analysis, mostly thoughts out-loud)

C!Punz had no one in the start and he had only c!Dream in the end. To be absolutely clear, even this is a great progress for them. They've been alone all the time before c!Dream.

He's a mercenary, of course his skills are advanced and mind is sharp, but he spend his whole life in need to kill to survive, to earn money. Of course they wanted power. The power that money gave them. That was once stripped from him. The control over his life and decisions that was taken away. Everything was compensated by money he received for blooded work he has done. Eventually his view of himself became twisted and saw himself as weapon of others.

Even on dsmp they weren't involved in conflicts on their own behalf often. They would ignore everything that wasn't affecting them directly.

But then there was c!Dream. A person who has found c!Punz, who cared about him for some reason that was beyond his understanding. And finally seen as a person rather than a weapon.

C!Punz is not the one to pull out c!Dream from the hole he was falling into, because they was in that hole already. They could not help him. They probably didn't even understood that what was going on with both of them is deeply wrong. That they both were falling. He was just extremely happy that he wasn't alone anymore.

He understands c!Dream's loneliness, but at the same time he doesn't. They never had people to care about them to lose, they were alone from the start and it's different.

But their loyalty and devotion to c!Dream played it's own role in helping don't fall deeper fast. They were in this hole together, and no one planned to let go, because with each other it was the highest they have been in a long time.

It helped c!Punz to view themselves differently, to finally be loved by someone, to be important, to understand emotions and attachments, connections with people. To finally change their values from power and money to a connection with someone. To put c!Dream as the most precious thing to them. To understand that they deserve to be loved and love themselves. His own emotion and decisions finally mattered, he had his control of his life back. And he actively chose c!Dream, no matter how impossible and dangerous his plans maybe sounded to him. They was on board with him, because it was c!Dream.

C!Dream was the ray of light in c!Punz's dark dark world that changed everything and they did everything in their power to repay him.
