HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY 2K16. ♥
whether it’s with friends, family, lovers, or even your favorite fictional characters, celebrate an everlasting love on an extra special level today. remember to appreciate and remind yourself of all the wonderful folk in your life everyday, and of course — be reminded of how important you are to so many others! if work and other plans hadn’t interrupted, i would have hoped to indulge in shenanigans today, but hey — this post is my contribution for today, and an inkling of how much you all mean to me.
here’s a special shoutout to one of my best friends and best partners and best everything @unmeinowa who bears with my booty ooc and ic and always keeps me motivated and up on my feet! since he’s the reason why my playlist over the year has become both larger and much more wonderful, i wanted to return the favour and whip one up in return. since he’s working hard today, hehehe! brynn, stay swaggy. ♥(ノ´∀`)

I told @jii-ro that my head’s filled with scenarios dealing with SEES taking a sleeping Makoto home and him passing away. She wanted to read them and there are so many that I basically wound up writing a bullet-point fic; it also covers Makoto’s service and Aigis getting his Evoker.
Picture this:
The relief
Everyone having fun at the rooftop, happy they’ve remembered, relieving their victory all over again and truly enjoying it for the first time. “And we did this and that and THEN this guy,” Junpei slows down as he looks at Makoto and a peaceful, grateful smile sets on everyone’s faces. “Man, I don’t even know what he did, but whatever it was… it worked.”
Aigis watches them with a wide smile, still sitting on that bench, still holding a sleeping Makoto.
Junpei and Yukari good-naturedly teasing Makoto, calling him sleepy-head, saying he’s got a funny way to fulfill promises (geez, I’m not sure this even counts; you are supposed to be awake, you know!)
They’re so noisy they keep thinking he’s going to stir, but he doesn’t move at all.
Junpei even shakes him a little at one point, but Mitsuru tells him to let him rest, that Yuki has looked pretty exhausted the past few days. It dawns on them that yeah it’s true, so they let him be, not really thinking much about it. At first.
When it’s time to go home (to hold a proper celebration, Mitsuru’s going to buy sushi for everyone again and dibs have been called), Aigis is about to carry Makoto bridal-style when Junpei stops her with a grin. “Stoooop right there, Ai-chan! We men are here to take care of sleeping beauty, aren’t we, Akihiko-senpai!?” Akihiko agrees.
Mitsuru even offers to call a driver to pick them all up, but Akihiko shots the idea down. “Besides, it’s been a while since we’ve all walked home together, hasn’t it?” He says with a smile, and Mitsuru smiles back, closes her eyes and nods. “Yeah… that’s right.” Yukari smiles, too. “Yeah. Home.” “Together,” adds Fuuka. And they all look at each other and share a smile, some near tears again; including Aigis, who squeezes Makoto’s hand. His hand is cold, unresponsive.
Imagine Akihiko and Junpei taking turns carrying Makoto on their backs all the way to the dorm (”Man, you’re heavy!! What have you been eating these past 2 months!?”) and Aigis, ever so slowly, trailing behind the group, her eyes glued to Makoto’s back and her smile slowly shrinking.
Makoto told her everything would be fine. Everyone’s fulfilled their promise, everything is okay now. And yet, “Why can’t I… shake off this feeling…” she wonders, placing a hand above her ribbon. “Makoto-san…”

Gently pulls him into her hold from behind. The base of her chin rests atop a crown that sprouts soft, dark tresses, arms enhancing their grip in a manner that is not possessive --- but out of the undying disbelief that /Ryoji Mochizuki/, such a godsend, had allowed her to protect his heart. "--Love you, you nerd."
The way her warmth penetrates his heart and soul is enough to whisk away all thoughts of what was to come, a future grim and dark of which she should have had no place to begin with. He finds it impossible to consider such things however when she exposes her own heart in such a way to his own. He can only lean back into that hold that wraps him so, as if he were always human to begin with. Her chin on his crown, he tilts upwards slightly, if only to catch a look at those features as a cool hand of his own comes to rest on one laid across his shoulder.
“You’re such a fool sometimes.” Despite the meaning of his chosen words, his tone of voice is much the same as her own. There’s an affection, a devotion, behind every syllable, as that chosen hand wraps his, fingers intertwined as he pulls it back, opting to kiss the back of said hand, pressing those warm knuckles to his pale cheek to caress and nuzzle, unbelieving that such a goddess could tug and pull on his heartstrings, even as they were bound to such an ending. He could take solace in those seconds, moments, hours, all marching past, as long as they could be spent with her.
“I love you, too.”
There’s a hint of sadness to his voice, but it’s simply ignored as he holds her so close as she does so mutually. Even through his cold self, a warmth is exuded from his being, coaxed out by her loving touch. She was his everything, as he was hers. He would have it no other way.

Not those eyes… Please, please, anything but those eyes. What a beautiful, brilliant blue they are, the aspect that anchors her to the world, reminds her of what’s worth fighting for, reminding her of a dream come true. Call her a drama protagonist for all she cares, but she’ll cease to deny what rumbles in her core — the undying adoration for a soul who is forever distant, even in the attempt to tread against the currents of destiny to forever remain by his side. She loves those eyes, don’t get her wrong — but she hates that they have to exhibit that caliber of melancholy, and it causes her whole body and mind to ache. There’s an irritability attached to such a sight — not directed towards him, but rather, herself. It echoes in her mind, the vows she made to protect her most dearest… Yet, in this situation, she was utterly powerless.
Her gaze flickers at the realization that her visage likely displayed what really whirred in her mind. For tonight, for these few hours granted to them, it was best to push aside all the negativity and savour every second. Even if, at some point, they had to confront the true reason behind their encounter. A smile paints itself upon her lips as slender legs shuffle forward, their stride far more delicate than usual due to the restriction of the fabric covering her skin. She halts just shy of where he stands, her chin tilting northwards as her gaze meets his own. Magical, really, for the messiah is weaved into a state of speechlessness in mere seconds.
“…you could be in those cute pyjamas of yours, and I’d still swoon over you.” Although it’s an attempt to lighten the mood, there is truth in her claim.
“Come on. We’ll be late to the fireworks.” Her palm extends in an offering. “Am I…allowed?”
His melancholy grin lightens, ever so slightly. Enough to reassure her, that maybe just for a second, everything could be okay. It was bold-faced lie, one to comfort and nothing more. They both wanted to be lost forever in that rosy, happily-ever-after dream land. His desire for such a thing showed, his thinning hands reaching out to grasp her own. Colder than usual, he holds on tight, afraid to ever let her go. She was his anchor, his very being. Though the reality was grim, fate waiting around every turn, he truly wished for a world where they could simply be one, lovers entwined hopelessly till the end of days. For the time being, each time that inevitability pushes at the edges of his mind, he pushes it back. For her.
“An angel falling for a reaper. How utterly sinful.” He teases lightly, trying his best to keep the mood light as well. Unable to settle for merely holding hands, he unfurls the scarf as he always does when he wants to feel her close, wrapping around her neck to draw her in. No longer holding hands, but instead his arm fully around her shoulders, as if he wants to shield her from everything.
The fireworks are the last thing on his mind. He could stay like this forever, her up against his chest. He barely registers that he’s visibly trembling, his fingers clawing for something expiring soon. He’s so, so scared. It hurts. He slowly, ever so slowly, pulls back together shreds of his composure, back to merely holding her hands. He doesn’t say another word of it, kissing her forehead lightly before going back to side by side.
“...Should we take the long route? I don’t want to waste a second.” He wants to be alone, with nothing but her presence close. The fireworks, while romantic, could wait. Her smile was enough to light him up, entrusting his heart to her warm, soft hands.

DECEMBER 31, 2009…
> You can hear their determined voices in your mind…
“Have the rest of you made your decision?”
“No need to ask me.”
“You know how I feel.”
“I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t on board.”
“I’m with the rest of you.”
“I’m in, too.”
“I have made my decision as well.”
…it’s come at last. The night that’ll determine the rest of his days is upon him now. Amidst their apprehension, everyone downstairs had already come to the same decision. Does the end of the world frighten them? Of course. Who wouldn’t be terrified at such a grim reality awaiting them in only a month? And yet they’re choosing to fight. Despite the path being obscured with a haze of uncertainty, they chose to face it. It’s admirable.
But in the end, it’s his decision that truly matters. The burden of humanity’s future rests solely upon his shoulders. How is someone supposed to act when a responsibility like that has been placed on them? How has he not broken down in the month leading up to this point? Even now, he doesn’t know. It’s been eating away at him since the month began. He’s lost countless hours of sleep. His own sanity has likely been compromised a little. On today of all days… Why did the fate of the world have to decided on a day he wished would just disappear?
December 31st. The day he was born. The day life had decided to sever happiness from him in one quick tragedy. The day his parents were were—
…no. He can’t dwell on that anymore. He’s had all day to do that. Right now, all that matters is the choice he’ll make before the boy who awaits in his room. His hand rests upon the door knob and he takes a deep breath, steeling himself for the inevitable. And then, with one final push, he’s inside.
It’s time.
Waiting, waiting, waiting. The clock ticked the seconds away, the minutes, inevitably bleeding through hours. As fated as the passage of time was the passing of his promise, the overbearing reality of that which he had come to exist for. The Fall, regardless of his decision, would come. One way or another, it mattered little how he acted. The ultimatum was truly Ryoji’s greatest defiance in the face of his creator, seeking safe passage to a dark end for those he cherished most. Though none sought this to truly be, it was man’s subconscious who had willed it so. Were that not the case, the harbinger of fate would never have come to be. That was more apparent now than ever before.
A faint, albeit pained, smile greets his other half. The courage to be here, that determination in which he lived said more than anything else of who had become in this passing months. Season after season had strengthened him, shadow after shadow. It bemused the avatar, waiting on the edge of his seat, that it filled him with a distant feeling of pride, as well as that of despair. To see it all come crashing to a sudden end. Unfair, perhaps, but was it ever truly going to play nice? He had likely come to understand that, Ryoji had no doubt.
“... Hi there.”
Were it anyone else, the friendly tone in which he spoke was practically mocking. But in this case, it was familiarity, a cruelly ironic warmth in which he greeted him into his own domain, his very home turned against him. “I... don’t suppose I need to explain everything to you again, do I?” He knew not. Even as the boy would never understand the true scope, it wasn’t his place to know either. This decision shouldn’t have been his either, had Ryoji not twisted it so.
Glancing upwards, it seemed there was still time. The clock ticked eleven-forty-five. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Fate paused for no man nor deity, drawn inevitably towards the same end, bound together.
rubrumcosmos:
A brightly-colored kimono hugs ever inch of her body, yet goosebumps still linger on the surface of her skin — because the air of the situation, the air on a day as fateful as today, is very, very cold. Eyes craved the sight of a face endeared, ears desired to hear the baritone that elevated her heart; today, the very source of her newfound impatience during the course of awaiting this day would finally appear. The same soul who’d parted ways with her ages ago, on a matter far more bitter than any sensation she’d felt. The same soul intertwined with her own, bound by the crimson red thread of a fate so cruel. An elevated heart rate had not been the cause of earlier’s journey upon a lengthy flight of stairs to the shrine she remained in — but, rather, a medley of emotions ranging from anticipation, excitement, to a fear far too large to sum up in words. For this encounter would be anything but what they frequently shared. This time, an answer was required to a trial that surfaced a month ago. And the options would both produce undesirable results.
Yet, in her heart, even at that moment, her answer was decided. Finally, finally… Tonight would be that answer’s debut. No turning back. No regrets.
When the soles of sandals land on the sacred grounds of the shrine, her gaze immediately lands on the sight of a bright, yellow accessory adorning one soul’s figure. Out of all the wondrous aspects to such a beautiful place, she only has eyes for one individual. Her pace halts, as does her heart for a moment, before lips part to release a breathy chuckle.
“Heh. A true gentleman never keeps a lady waiting — you haven’t changed at all.”
@unmeinowa
Pained truly so to be in a place such as this, at a time such as this, one hand clutched at his golden accessory while the other held at where a heart should’ve been. It went against every codified codified rule within his excuse for a human soul, etched into his ghostly flesh. He shall obey, that is unavoidable. If to the very last minute, his purpose shall come to be. They both knew it, even as she put on her smile. Just for him. Unable to stand this, it was with one deep breath, slouching his shoulders and pulling together that he had slowly turned towards her, eyes barely meeting hers before turning to the sky.
The moon. Already in full view, yearning to swallow reality whole.
Chewing his bottom lip, he could feel that purpose crashing down on his shoulders, crushing the fabricated life out of him ever so slowly. It was likely she felt down, the overbearing reality of his given ultimatum crawling towards becoming unavoidable. She had not spoken to him to come here, but only beckoned him on, calling on him to please, please, give her one last evening together. Something she could hold true to, to see the sun rise the next day.
He had simply no choice. Even with his designs, he was simply weak. Two blood red twines pulled him in opposing directions, threatening to tear him in two. The ache could be felt through, from his mind, to his soul, to his heart. Everything hurt, more so as his eyes came back to hers.
“I can’t say I’ve dressed the part as well as you, unfortunately.”
Though he would’ve sounded normal to anyone else, she had come to know him more so than any other. That falter in his usual calm, drawn out voice was enough to reveal he had been choking back tears, the cracks in his composure showing already. He was weak.
