oh my god i don’t know how to navigate this website anymore
Aging gracefully is overrated, age like one of these motherfuckers:
Yes, I’m bent and wrinkled and definitely cursed, baby, you want to cry about it? This whole forest is still built around me and not the bitch of rain or fire or storm could take me down so don’t start

I’M BACK, BITCHES
kinda??? i’m mostly just here to dig for old photos of my dog at the moment it’s kinda overwhelming i haven’t used this site in... uh... wow i actually don’t remember how many years it’s been. what year did i move from NH to NY? since then. time is fake. and i avoided logging back into this account for ages out of cowardice because i have a lot of mutuals here who i just kind of ghosted for years, so if any of you see this... feel free to hit me up if you want, or don’t if you’d prefer to leave things as they are. really can’t blame you either way. life happened and i fucked up a lot and self isolated for a long time, and ended up deciding to work a lot of my shit out before i started socializing much again. still owed a lot of you more than silence as i dropped off the map, but after i blinked and months, then years had passed... after a certain point it’s been so long that what the fuck do you even -say-? so i just kept hiding from the problem instead of doing something about it.
i’m in a weird, stable, safe limbo right now. my body’s a fucking wreck but i’ve made a lot of progress on my brain mess, so there’s that. now, time to dig through my post archive and try not to die of lingering embarrassment at them until i find those dog pics. oh, god, and i bet since the great tumblr purge my character inspiration blogs are more than half dead links to deleted images and accounts... that’ll be a sad sight.
People often say to me: “You draw like some kind of inhuman machine. If I eat your brain, will I gain your power?” The answer is yes, but there is another way. The key to precise drawing is building up muscle memory so that your arm/hand/fingers do the things you want them to do when you want them to do them. Teaching yourself to draw a straight line or to make sweet curves is just a matter of practice and there are some exercises you can do to help improve. If you’re going to be doodling in class or during meetings anyway, why not put that time to good use?

Mechanical Drawing Exercises Because Sometimes You Need to Draw Like a Robot Darren Calvert | darrencalvert.tumblr.com
Draw 2 points
“Ghost” over the points with the tip of your pencil to practice the hand/arm movement
Try to hit both points in one clean stroke
Exercises
Draw 2 parallel lines - connect them with a series of perpendiculars [Transcriber’s note: Resembles a ladder or train tracks]
Draw a series of dots on to parallel lines - connect them
Try to draw lines from different angles that all intersect at the same point [Transcriber’s note: Resembles an asterisk]
Exercises
Practice line weight by increasing/decreasing pressure with each line
Increase/decrease spacing between a series of lines
Draw an irregular shape - fill in with parallel lines
Draw several points in space [Transcriber’s note: These points are randomly placed and do not form a pattern]
Try to connect those points with as clean a line as possible [Transcriber’s note: The lines should form swoops/curves]
Try to avoid shaky/hairy lines

hello my name is notacrab humanman! all my ancestors had the usual amount of limbs and i’m damn proud of it!
moving to a place with no internet and no mobile service for the forseeable future. may get limited internet access, but this site isn’t exactly mobile friendly. see you guys when i’m not living in what is most likely a very haunted house.

Outrageous
Honestly the best feeling in the world is when you pick up someone’s cat, and they’re like “I can’t believe she’s letting you hold her !!!” Like yes. I am the cats friend. The cat whisperer. The forest nymph. The cat charmer. Th e
“Eye Might Have Stumbled Into the Wrong Place On the Way to the Store” 2"x3" stretched canvas rough draft version being sold alongside 5"x7" canvas panel version for $45 total! Pardon the cardboard background. I’m still working as I pack my studio up to move it into the next state over. Time to get to know a new post office staff!
I’ve done weird eye stuff before, but the way they turned out in the final version of this one was really heavily inspired by Sword Interval. I’ve been binge-reading this webcomic and wanna toss it a boost while I’m already at it self-promoting.
https://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/sword-interval/list?title_no=486 Updates wednesdays. There’s gore. It’s SO GOOD YOU GUYS. go read that but also if you want my painting i am mid-move and could use the help hahaaa
i’m cross posting enough that any of you who follow me on multiple platforms are probably going bonkers right now. Promise things’ll settle once I’ve settled in the new house
“Something, Something, Wine-Dark Sea” Acrylic on 4"x4" canvas panel. Going for $16 after shipping! (I fell asleep listening to a video essay that talked a lot about the color blue and how the pigment used to be rare, and that’s why ancient poems have phrases like ‘wine dark sea’ in them even though wine isn’t blue. Then I got too literal with it because I’ve used up way more of my blues than I have my purples and if I use it all up at the same time I can get a deal ordering more colors as a set 😂)
booooosting and cross posting. help i’m moving at the end of the week and working until the day i leave.
My art facebook's inventory list!
It’s small right now, but I’m working on adding more items fast. The albums probably don’t have anything in them you can’t find on this blog, too, but Facebook is looking like a better place for me to advertise. This blog’s going to link to it now and then to promote that side of things, but I think this blog’s going to be more for collecting and sharing work in a more casual setting.
Signal boosts both here and on Facebook itself are appreciated! I’m moving at the end of the week, but once I’m settled I hope to increase my pace with paintings and more. (I’ll have no distractions without internet at the house, so updating all this from the library may be a chore, but I think the setup on the whole will be a lot more suited to focusing on work.)
reblogging here!
