GUESS THE NAME OF THAT RAT - Part 5! This sweet girl is SUPER photogentic and did a great job of posing with (and nibbling!) her food namesake! As before I'd like to know which shot you like best, and which should feature on this years ratty food calendar!
Bad angle but look how cute Pinto is! She likes to nap al over me, often sweetly curled into a ball 🥺 Like any young rat she also has her moments of activity, bouncing around and play-fighting the other girls, and enjoying some hand-wrestling at the start of free-range. But after she gets her beans out she becomes soooo snuggly, and will come over and nap on me (usually out in the open - sometimes she enjoys going under the blanket like the other rats, but like my previous girl Bean she is ultra-confident and seems to actually prefer sleeping out in the open).

So a few days back Creme Brulee managed to open my cheerio vending machine, and that apparently became a core memory because she now seeks it out each playtime to raid it for more cheerios! She even taught my senior rats to open it, and now Coffee and Crumb in particular will go find her and then together all 3 will just sit there emptying it! This girl is a menace I tell you, a MENACE! 😂 (Video of her 2nd attempt opening it - now she's super smooth and gets it open right away!)
So I was playing with sweet Chicken Soup and she got a bit carried away and tried to include my senior girl Crumb - Crumb was NOT having it and decided that this was when she was going to leave this earth and fully accepted her fate lol. Thankfully after a few seconds she realized it isn't actually her time yet and went back to her usual grooming - but I supose this is payback for all that bouncy play that Crumb tried to inflict on Raisin, Popcorn, Tofu, and Toast back in her youth! Also bonus Feta getting bullied by babies, poor girl is so sweet she lets them get away with anything 😅
Everyone please give a big welcome to Cheerio! Cheerio is a torti odd-eyed dwarf, which means she has different colored eyes and her fur will molt different colored patches as she ages (you can already see this starting with her head, where the fur is lightening). Now this girl was one of the original rats I wanted, and let me tell you, she does not disappoint! Cheerio is SO confident and outgoing, its truly amazing to see such a tiny rat show absolutely no fear of anything!

Cheerio absolutely loves people and the second I put my hand near the cage she is trying to crawl on it - once she gets up there she likes to gently nibble on your nails, giving the world cutest manicure! I am so in love with this smol bean and I can't wait to get to know her better - welcome to the mischief Cheerio!
Sweet little Chicken Soup 🥺 She loves to groom fingers and is so gentle about it, I adore this sweet girl! Also Cheerio trying to copy her and miss un-named trying to escape, you can really see their distinct personalities ❤️
Everyone please give a warm welcome to miss Milk! Milk is a Siamese harley dwarf, and she is the smallest rat in the group! But don't let that fool you - Milk may be small but her confidence certainly is not, and she is one of the MOST food motivated rats I've seen in a long while! If Milk knows you have a treat, no rat is going to stop her from getting it - and if that means having to snatch a treat directly from a (much larger!) cagemates mouth, then so be it!

Milk is also a very sweet girl who loves to groom fingers, and who has already enjoyed cuddling in my blanket after a few hours of free-range shenanigans. She is such a perfect little bean and I absolutely adore her - welcome to the mischief sweet girl!
Look at how adorable this sleepy girl is! She spent the entire time riding back home napping lol, first on her back, then in a half-curled ball. And I'm still struggling with what to call her, she's both super energetic and silly but also has a very chill side, IDK what to call her but she's so sweet ❤

Feta is working on her scent work! Training with Feta is always very interesting due to her personality - she reminds me a lot of Tofu in many ways because she is very much a thinker, and won't execute a task before really thinking it through. But she's also a lot more biddable than Tofu because Feta is much more of a people pleaser (while Tofu was very independent) - its stuff like that that makes training each rat a unique expereince even when working the exact same tricks, and is just one of the things I love about working with rats! Great job Feta!

So at the end of Cracker and Crumb's last training session I was having them practice some fun spins and paws...then I asked for them to jump to hand and they apparently completely forgot how to do that lol. Poor girls are a bit older and a bit chunkier so they weren't quite sure that jumping to hand was still a good idea, but after a quick reminder session they regained their confidence and were jumping gracefully (well sorta lol)!
