@unsightlyvixen
Even if you’re unemployed, even if you’re taking time off from school, even if nobody is calling and making plans with you, get out of bed, take a shower, put on clean clothes, wear some cologne or perfume, turn all the lights on, do some laundry, clean up a little bit.
Doing all this stuff causes a shift in your perspective. Do it in spite of your situation.
That’s the only way to create sustainable happiness, because if your behavior is dictated by your circumstances, you’re always going to be miserable. Don’t let the world determine your mindset. Let your mindset determine how you view the world.

Harvard University offers a completely free online course on the Fundamentals of Neuroscience that you can get a certificate for successfully completing and which requires nothing other than basic knowledge in Biology and Chemistry. This excites me! Here’s the website

self-care tips
wash yourself; take a bath, or a shower, use some nice smelling soaps and shampoos, maybe even a bath bomb. wash your face, wash you hair, brush your teeth
clean your room/work space: its sometimes hard to even get started on work when you’re in a messy environment. it dones’t have to be a huge cleaning, even just some tidying, and air it out or putting some nice scented candles can help
decorate your room: get plants, get posters, fairy lights, whatever you want. make your room a nice place that you feel warm and comfortable in
take selfies: you’re hot
get rid of old useless things: clothes that dont fit anymore, or you dont like anymore, random broken or useless objects that you have laying around, get rid of them
do your laundry: at least every other week, but try to get some done every week. clean your socks, shirts, sweaters, bras (if applies), sheets
stay organized: however you like to do it (posts-its, agendas, reminders, etc) whatever keeps you updated and in case something slips your mind, you’ll have it covered
make lists: the best thing when you have a bunch of work to do, is when you cross everything off the list because you’re done. it helps you get started as well
eat regularly: however you plan out your meals, try and have them fairly regular
go for walks: fresh air is good for your brain, whether you like walking, running, biking, etc, do whatever you like to get you outside
also, dont forget to treat yourself
took years to love my skin color so the excessive selfies is just me making up for lost time ig @/queenxayla

This is great!! I make my own products for my hair sometimes and I love it when my man tries them with me 😊😊

These Are The Forgotten Images Of Hurricane Katrina
When Hurricane Katrina pounded the Gulf Coast in 2005, photojournalists captured things nobody ever thought they’d see in a major U.S. city: homes submerged, dead bodies in the streets and residents stranded on rooftops pleading for rescue.
WARNING: This post contains images that some readers may find disturbing.

Never forgotten. This was the moment when I realized my country never fucking loved us. They called us refugees. Refugees! On our own soil. Saw them send more resources overseas after a disaster than they did to my family who were drowning. Katrina forever changed me. I’ll never forget her.
That 6th picture…
this is the moment right here.
