Happy pride month!
Book fort. I don’t know, a short comic. Have been redoing the characters personalities lately.
Stupid face. I quite like it.
Sketches as I’ve been preoccupied with stuff lately.
I guess this is my Judge design. And my anthro Survivor of course.
Ohh... Whatever.
My Survivor can change colours based on their mood. Yellow when there calm and feeling positive or neutral. Cyan when clam yet negative. Red when angry or excited (like passionate about things). And white for shocked or surprised.
Don’t ask why my art style has changed. Kinda. I have like art block or something. Well more so I want to draw like a lot a lot, but everything I make is shit.
Besides all of that, Survivor and Monk are now actual characters and Im starting to write the first issue of the story.
This is how I imagine that Watcher makes Rifts.
The way they use up Karma Flowers is by eating them. Something I’ve noticed is that Im never proud or happy with the results of drawings like this. I like how I draw the slugcats in reafsheets, but not like this. Idk why.
Idk, I haven’t posted in some time. I wasn’t planning to post these, so they have a lot of information I don’t want to share yet or even at all and some of the designs are older designs that I no longer use. Excuse the blocks that are black.
Been busy with making Survivor a compelling character and protagonist. Im quite proud of how they came out. Ohh… by the way I played Rat Shaker. Don’t underestimate the comedic potential of just having a rat you can shake.
Been making my Artificer design. I’ve made a as I call it “in general” design, though I still have to simplify it.
Feel kinda weird about the chest. You see Hunter, Artificer and Spearmaster have a damaged amount of 1.25 but Artificer and Spearmaster can pull Spears out of walls yet Hunter can’t, so I decided to give Artificer and Spearmaster more upper body strength and more Hunter lower body strength and that’s how I ended up here. Now that my design of them is done I can finally do what I wanted to do this entire time.
Die. Anyways, here’s where I got the colours from.
I used the burn mark colour for their scales.
There is actually not a lot of variation for Cyan lizards. Only Red and Blizzard Lizards have less variety.
The colours for the Mushrooms growing on their scar.
I used this for Artificer’s teeth.
I used the colour of the burn on Artificer’s starting screen for my on version of Artificer. I also used the lighter parts of Artificer’s body for the acid marks. Yeah. Anyway. Probably going to make a lineup of all the slugcats. Soon.
Been doing some sketches on Hunter’s design. Wanted to go with an unraveling type thing. Don’t like the “Hunter has rot on their back” or “Hunter looks like a normal slugcat” designs so took a different approach.
Ended up looking pretty weird. I like it that way. Did an analysis on Hunter’s design in game. Specifically wanted to document all of their scars.
Helps that they don’t have that many cutscenes. Will explain this design when I finally complete it. For now I’ll just say that I enjoy the “how much can you take away from a person before they stop being a person” theme in body horror and I want to incorporate it. Also this design was influenced by a real disease (and also “Slay the Princess” fury route). No prize for the person who guess it. No it is not cancer, though to be fair making a Hunter design that is inspired by cancer is a thing on my to do list. Can’t resist covering Hunter in teeth and long hair. The inside of cancer is weird.
Just gonna post Monk and Survivor’s names.
Survivor: Cross-Stitch Cotton Nenanmiet-Nesin Inpap (nen’an’mi’et-nes’in in’pap)
Cross = picture of two lines Stitch = make fabric attach (stitch two pieces together) Cotton = white fabric
Monk: Lace Silk Inanmesnes Inpap (in’an’mes’nes in’pap)
Lace = cloth with many details Silk = white fabric
Update on the au: I’ve finally decided the type of imagery I want to use. A mix of art styles to convey a sort of scrap book feel, like I made it with all I could muster which is pretty perfect for a story that plays with the theme of living a life devoid of luxury and trying to survive by using everything you can muster despite it not being enough. The core concept is air tight, the themes are chosen and the main characters are created and expanded. The setting needs work though and I haven’t gotten around to making the supporting cast. Ether way, Im happy with the progress. A bit sad a the fact Im cutting out Hunter from the story. They were supposed to a main character, but they didn’t fit cleanly into the story. Im contemplating Artificer’s involvement in the story. Their perfect for the themes, but they can only serve their role in the not witching sections and that part of the story is meant to be more relaxing and calm, focusing on the struggles living and Artificer is very action oriented so it might mess up the flow of the story. For now I’ll keep them in my back pocket for later, maybe a small arc that culminates with all the things learned from the journey. Idk why Im writing this update. I guess to reflect on all the things I’ve done in the last two months. I’m just posting this for myself, to remind my future self of the process of making this.
It’s an au.
Rain World aus are the reason I got the game. I still follow some. Idk when exactly I started disliking most. For the last two months I’ve been making my own. Turning these little critters into characters with personalities and motives is very enticing. While I use the tag “rw absolute rain au” or just “absolute rain au” it’s not a good description. Not sure what to name the au.
For now I will explain my au’s version of Survivor and a bit of the world.
Survivor’s name is Cross-Stitch Cotton with Cross-Stitch being their name and Cotton being their surname, kinda. Since the Rain World language I’m making is very basic and small, certain words like cotton and lace have variations that are spelled the same. While a persons surname has to be spelled the same as their family members, its meaning can vary. In universe Cross-Stitch Cotton is read Nenanmiet-Nesin Inpap (nen’an’mi’et-nes’in in’pap) and spelled:
Cross = picture of two lines Stitch = make fabric attach (stitch two pieces together) Cotton = white fabric
Survivor is usually drawn as white, duh. I however don’t like to make characters in colour coded groups white or black.
Survivor also has karma one through five on their left arm. Originally they were just red tattoos, but as the au developed I changed them to be glowing and something they were born with. They represent both the different ways you can engage with Rain World and the beginning of your journey, as Survivor is usually the first campaign you play and Saint the last, and Saint is connected with karma six through ten. I made them wrap their tail around their right leg though I don’t have a deeper reason for doing it besides humanising them. The wave on their face was initially safety goggles, though as time went on they were simplified. Survivor’s jacket is a mix between a lab coat and a blazer. The cone collar thing is to give them a more interesting silhouette and make them more recognisable. The brown-orange shirt you can see underneath the sleeves is reminiscent of detectives. The shoe-socks are similarly so, but heavily simplified. The gloves are a mix of brown detective gloves and blue scientist gloves. The pants are too big for them to let Survivor wrap their tail around their leg as it provides a sense of comfort to them.
In this au basically every Rain World creature is antro. They have their own distinct cultures, but most cities are a mix of all creatures. They have different governments, though almost all of them worship the iterators and as such the iterators are pretty much the leaders of all of the creatures in their respective domains, overseeing all developments in the new societies. The cycle is also every important to explain. When you die you wake up when you last slept creating a new universe where you can survive, while the other universe that you died in remains. Suicide will be pretty common in this au, especially since Survivor is the main character and they often kill themself to go back in time and fix their mistakes.
The series will be episodic (that doesn’t mean things reset at the end of every comic, just that you can see every comic in whatever order without missing much context). I didn’t make it a serialised series as serialisation often leads to big world impacting plots and that just doesn’t feel right for Rain World.
This au will focus on Survivor and Monk and their relationship. I will talk about Monk’s character soon as they are very important to the message Im trying to convey. I need to warn you that the Downpour slugcats aren’t really that important. Even Hunter and Watcher have very little going on, at least at the beginning. This isn’t about them. This is about the siblings because I really do love sibling dynamics.
Perhaps, over there. Mu, un ta.
Working on the language.

Eh… needed to calm myself with doodles, because I just played Vile. Yeah, it was something. Not going to be able to sleep tonight.
I keep changing Monk’s design. Im just never happy with it. Anyway, here’s their newest design.
Yes… I named them Lace Silk. Terrible name, I know. I just wanted them to match Survivor (Cross-Stitch Cotton).
Would you believe me if I told you I was making a Rain World Language?
I only now noticed that I spelled Spearmaster’s gisut as gusot. Thankfully the iterator names are all pretty common worlds so when I get to naming them it will be a lot easier. But Im tired and it’s time for me to got to bed. These aren’t their names. The scug go by entirely different names in the au, these are just their campaign titles translated. Btw Nightcat, Player 2, Mother and Judge are cut slugcat campaigns. Nightcat, Player 2 and Mother are from vanilla and Judge is from Downpour.
Working on the au out of the public rain world fandom view. For now Im going to have to show you only the most fundamental stuff about it, so here’s the current version of Monk and Survivor.
