I Read Too Much

Hi, the real world is boring and I no longer can bother the school libraian about books so now it's tumblers problem because goodreads was too confusing and won't stop sending me emails.

It has come to my attention that not many people know about or have read Hope Never Dies an Obama Biden Mystery and it's sequel Hope Rides Again. Since I think I am one of the few blessed people to have read both I will give you a quick synopsis on these books! (btw the summary is kinda - bad because it's been 2 years)

Both books are told for Joe Biden's perspective.

First book: Joe is sad because Obama hasn't called in the 6 months since leaving office, but one day Obama appears in Joe's Delaware yard smoking weed (the dog that keeps biting the secret service members is also there). Obama tells Joe he needs Joe's help solving the drug problem in Delaware (drugs being smuggled across Delaware) and at the same time Joe's favorite Amtrak conductor is killed mysteriously. Joe and Obama drive around in Joe's sports car with Obama's secret service guard Steve. Yes. Steve.

It's just me and you and you and me and your friend Steve.

They go to a waffle house, then go to a motel, bust in on a woman showering. Then they share a hotel room, but oh no! the hotel only has one bed. Yes. This Obama Biden mystery book has the one hotel bed trope. They have a falling out. Joe crashes a car. It ends at a scene on a train with the drugs and a evil Amtrak employee and Joe almost falling out the training and then the evil Amtrak employee falls to his death from out the train (Joe might have gotten shot???)

Second book: Joe is considering running for President (written before he announced his campaign) and is in Chicago, runs into Obama. Joe talks a lot about being Irish because it's St. Pat's day. Obama's phone (blackberry) gets stolen. Then some intern of Obama is shot and killed. Turns out some preacher is running a gang for teenagers. (the second one is a dip in quality and I remember less).

So Let Them Burn is a fantasy YA book written by Kamilah Cole following the point of view of two sisters trying to save their country and each other.

What happens to the child hero after the major battle is over? Where does their story go from there? Faron Vincent was gifted the powers of the gods to defeat the dragon-riding Langley Empire and free her island of San Irie at only the age of 12. And at 12 years old she freed her island. But now what? It's been five years since, she has all the powers of the gods and nothing to do with them. From what the queen asks of her it seems Faron is now just given the powers to remind other nations of San Irie's threat and preform party tricks at peace summits.

Elara is Faron's older sister and has always been in the shadow of her saint sister. Together she ran away with Faron to fight Langley Empire. After her island is freed, Elara is nervous that her name will be lost to history while her sister's name is praised as legend. This all changes when at the peace summit Elara gets bonded to a Langley dragon and it's rider, a bond only breakable by death.

Reeve Warwick is Elara's best friend, the son of the leader of the Langley Empire, and the Langley Empire's biggest traitor. He risked his life to give crucial information to the San Irie army that changed the war, now he lives in San Irie when the people still hate him for sharing a face with the people who enslaved them for decades, even worse people think he might be a spy. Faron doesn't even trust him, but to save her sister she has to work with him.

Queen Aveline was a normal farm girl till Faron was told by the gods to find her. Aveline's parents have given her up for her protection, but after their death Aveline was forced into the role of queen at only 16. Queen was not a job Aveline was prepared for, especially in a country recovering from war with threats everywhere and war still on the horizon.

Will the political challenges of the nation and this sisterly bond bring the world down or will Faron and Elara be able to save their country and each other.

BTW: This is part of a series and only the first book is out so if you can't read incomplete series then I don't suggest reading this one.

Here is my character comparison to ALTA (because I couldn't stop thinking about while reading) Faron: If Toph was the avatar rather than Aang. Elara: Sokka. Reeve: Zuko. Queen Aveline: Katara.

Dreadnought is a superhero duology written by April Daniels with a trans-fem main character.

If you like Miraculous Ladybug then you might enjoy reading The Extraordinaries!

The Extraordinaries is a superhero and comedy book trilogy by TJ Klune with a main character with ADHD and a all queer friend group.

Nick Bell is unfortunately anything but extraordinary, well expect for maybe the fact that he is the author of the most popular fanfic writer in the Extraordinaries fandom (which totally isn't a self insert fanfic with Nick's favorite superhero and crush like at all!).

Despite this someone embarrassing fanfic, Nick's friends Gibby, Jasmine, and Seth (his amazing childhood best friend who edits his fanfic) seem to ignore some of his antics. Though Jasmine and Gibby might just beat up Nick's ex Owen if he doesn't stop bothering them during lunch.

Luckily Nick is able to live in the best city for being an Extraordinaries fan, Nova City. With two heroes of it's own, though at sometimes one seems to be more like a villain, Shadow Star (the subject of Nick's fanfics) and Pyro Storm, Nova City is full of extraordinary action! After an encounter with the one and only Shadow Star, Nick sets a goal for him to become extraordinary too.

The Extraordinaries is a crazy world of antics and drama that seems too comical to overlook, and the main character might just have you cringing at him just like Marinette Dupain-Cheng as he struggles keep grounding in this extraordinary world.

*Warning; there is mention of p*rn, m*sturbation, and one s*x scene in the 3rd book, so if those are topics that make you uncomfortable to read about then I would not recommend this series for you. This recommendation is for those who read YA or older books*
