just found this picture from an assignment i did last year
—Sarah Jean Alexander
No one told me the road would be so long, that I'd grow up so suddenly without realizing it, only to find myself facing days whose harshness I don't understand, smiling sometimes just to hide my weariness. No one told me dreams can change, that some of my wishes will remain just wishes, that people can change, and that the hearts I thought were a refuge can become strangers. I didn't know I'd learn silence, not because I lack words, but because words won't change anything, and that I'd sometimes choose distance even though my heart doesn't want to leave. They didn't tell me that strength isn't in never breaking, but in breaking and trying to get back up again, and that maturity is in enduring what I didn't choose and living with what I didn't wish for. Adult life isn't what we imagined; it's heavier, more truthful, and sometimes harsher, but it teaches us how to carry on, even while carrying within us a child who doesn't yet understand why all this is happening.

The earth changes seasons every year.
Why must you remain the same?
