It was perfectly normal for the weather to get cold at this time of year, especially in the Alps. But there was something off. Perhaps the fact that the snow and ice coating the trees never fell to the ground, never dissolved into water when the sun shone. The snow seeping into her house seemed unaffected by her heater. Her jacket was still coated by snow - days after she last ventured outside.Her heaters were freezing over now, the windows she kept closed were now frozen shut. It wasn't that Liechtenstein was stuck; she had opted to keep her back door slightly ajar as she realized her windows had been fastened shut by the ice. There was something that kept her from leaving, an irrational fear that kept her stuck in her place. And as her heaters shut down, she knew she couldn't keep that door open any longer. But she always knew she couldn't close it either.
