the latest instalment of Incy Upslapmeal's Questionable Singing feat. Various Instruments comes to you this time from youtube, with the version of Lucy Gray Baird's interview song that I've had in my head since I read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes - I had to record this before the film comes out and gives me an Official Version!

a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.

i'm glad this is resonating with so many of you, there are dozens of us. however i regret to inform you some of your examples of "party city wigs" are among those i did not notice at all

If there's a long wait for the next Dr Who show, then it's entirely possible that it'll do the (reasonable) thing that New Who did and just start with a brand new Doctor. And then the Billie Piper Doctor will be in the same boat as the Paul McGann Doctor, except instead of 90 minutes of screentime she had like 5 seconds of screentime, and instead of a decade of the best Doctor Who ever made, she'll have a decade of people not feeling like they're allowed to write for her. So actually I guess that's an entirely different boat.

nigel farage resigning to try and delay the investigation into him and immediately restanding for election in the same constituency, only for every single major party to say 'yeah nah have fun pal, see you back at work for the investigation' and refusing to entertain him is hilarious enough on its own.

the fact that the only person running against him is fucking count binface, who is promising to build one (1) affordable house, is hysterical. and he has a not zero chance of winning.

an important thing to know about Count Binface is that he was previously Lord Buckethead, pictured here with Theresa May in 2017.

Lord Buckethead previously ran against Margaret Thatcher in 1987 and against John Major in 1992. Lord Buckethead ran for the Gremloids party.

Officially all Lord Bucketheads are the same Lord Buckethead who went away for a while and returned; however, it has come to light that Lord Buckethead (1987, 1992) and Lord Buckethead (2017) were two different guys under the bucket.

Following the 2017 general election the original creator of Lord Buckethead (not either of the guys who had worn the costume) asserted his legal rights over the character and 2017 Lord Buckethead acquiesced. and so, Count Binface came into being.

In the 2019 general election Lord Buckethead and Count Binface both ran against Boris Johnson, Binface as an indepent and Buckethead having joined the Monster Raving Looney Party. (NB this Lord Buckethead was a third different guy, not 87/92 Buckethead)

Lord Buckethead won the race (ie, got marginally more votes than Count Binface) but has not stood in an election since whereas Count Binface has been very prolific, running in two mayoral elections, two by-elections, and one further general election in 2024:
