Shauna is forced to go to a psychiatric hospital, where she meets 'The Doctor', who turns out to be just as sick as she is.

Doctor Matthews clicks her tongue. “Well,” she smiles. Dark brown eyes meet Shauna’s. “Most people don’t come here because they want to. Most of our patients have been sent here either by law or because someone they care about coerced them to.”

Shauna doesn’t know what to say to that, so she stays quiet. Her eyes flicking from the woman across from her to around the room.

“So, which one are you?”

“Pardon?”

Shauna frowns. Why does this feel like an interrogation? She thought this was supposed to be an introductory meeting, not whatever the fuck this is.

“I mean, I could just read your file, but I thought I’d give you an opportunity to explain your side. If you want to,” she shrugs.

“You want to know why I’m here?” Shauna scoffs, her eyes rolling before she can tell them not to.

“Like I said, you don’t have to.”

Shauna narrows her eyes at her, trying to figure out what this woman wants from her. She clearly wants something, with the odd way she’s acting.

“I hit someone.”

Doctor Matthews doesn’t reply. She looks at her like she already knows there’s more to the story, like she’s just waiting for Shauna to spill her guts all over this nice oak table. She shouldn’t give her the satisfaction, but part of her wants to– impress her, maybe? Or scare her off. She wants to make her terrified to have a patient like Shauna Shipman.

“He was harassing my girlfriend,” Shauna continues, waiting for some sort of reaction. “So, I hit him until I could feel the bones in his face cutting into my knuckles,” Shauna says, crossing her legs in an attempt to come across as unbothered.

“Interesting,” The Doctor replies.

Shauna scoffs.

“Were you expecting a different reaction from me?”

“No,” Shauna replies too quickly.

Doctor Matthews smiles and leans forward. Shauna leans away from her.

“Tell me, how did it feel to hurt him?”
