This gotta be one of my favorite Inukag paralels of all time.
Besides the obvious (both ocasions were almost kisses), I love the little details that make these two scenes almost perfect reflections from one another. If you look close, you’ll notice their expressions are almost the same both times: Inuyasha’s look is of determination and ultimate adoration. Kagome’s look is dreamy, a little taken aback. Like she couldn’t quite believe this was actually happening, that despite all of the (self) doubts she had been nutring, Inuyasha was looking at her like she was the only girl in the entire world.
And then there is the fact that is always Inuyasha making the first move. And that in both ocasions (at least in the anime) he does so by taking her hand before leaning in slowly, giving her plenty of time to turn away, push him back or tell him to stop. Taking her hand, in both cases, makes everything even more romantic, because the gesture becomes so solene. As if he needed her undivided attention for what they were about to do was the most important thing they have ever done.
It’s the complete disregard for personal space. It’s the naturality in which this kind of intimacy is displayed between them. Even the way how the moment ends it’s alike: Kagome pushing him away.
The difference (and this is the best part) is that in the first painel, Kagome pushes him away because she is not ready to kiss him (or for romance in general) just yet. They haven’t known each other for that long a time then and it’s all very new to her. Not to mention she was accusing him of not looking her in the eye because she was too similar to Kikyo just a moment prior. Which couldn’t be farther from the truth: it was because Inuyasha was already crushing on Kagome.
But in the second painel, she was ready. They had just shared a beautiful moment in which he literally vowed his life to her. She wanted him to kiss her. And she definitely was going to let him if it wasn’t for Sota’s interruption.
This just shows how far they have come.
