26.12.14 - Observation. Prototype 1a.

This is the first film to be released on observation and is a beta version, a prototype, the beginning of a series that will gradually find a rhythm as new things are introduced and certain themes come through in what we observe.

Initial observations

This was essentially a trial to get a feeling for what might follow. Looking at some of what is planned and what that looks like. Some of what is labelled temporary or transitional and what that looks like. Also some of what is being built. Also looking at textures that we are surrounded in. By looking at only details, like the face of an exposed wall or the roughness of a gravely car park, we start to get a feel for the landscape while only seeing a small portion of what makes up the landscape.

Observation explores people, space and the built environment. It sees what works and what doesn't work. How do these things affect each other and is one more important than the other? It also explores performance and how people engage with space and the built environment when they are faced with an artist engaging somewhat unusually with the space. Does this make people engage with the space differently? Does it make them engage with each other differently? As these things change do the other elements respond and grow or develop with it? Well that's not up to us. We will simply just observe.
