CH.3 - Does She Drive You Crazy?
A/N: still haven’t hit the smut but they are warming up:) AO3
CW: Drug use, not proofread, sexual implications, mentions of bite wounds
In the early hours of the day, you laid in bed comfortable and sleeping off the night prior. Your phone buzzed a couple of times, but you did not stir, Ruby’s fluffy body just keeping you in your deep slumber as the sun rose.
Oh? Y/N, you surprise me.
I might just come over, I'll bring breakfast. Do you like gaming? Or Stocks?
You only really woke up when you heard a knock at your door, startling awake, your cat and you both sitting up with your hair all frayed, bed head at its most obvious state. With a groan you climbed out of bed, stretching your legs as you hopped off the bed and headed to the door. You rubbed your eyes as you opened the door, “Hello?” a groggy tone slipping out as you speak. You don’t even register who is at your door until you hear his voice.
“Hey Y/N” He laughed, this time in a suit? You didn’t dare ask any questions as you looked over him, noting the bag of what smells like a delicious breakfast, and a laptop?
“Hey Vic.” You grumble. “What time is it?” You leaned on the door, letting him slip by if he chose. And.. in Victor fashion, he did, confidently. He walked in like he owned the damn place.
“Its about eight forty five. Why? You just wake up?” He smirked, setting the bag on your counter and neatly placing the wrapped breakfast sandwiches on the surface. You sat on a chair next to your kitchen table, leaning on it as you look at him.
“I saw my hair in my reflection, I know you can tell I did. What are you doing here?” You giggled, looking up at him from your chair. He looked down at you, his expression tender as he brought over the sandwiches.
“You still look beautiful.” He said softly, sitting down and setting the other sandwich in front of you. He didn’t look at you as he did so, instead focusing on his sandwich, unwrapping it and taking a bite.
You didn’t know what to say, not used to being complimented in such a state, not that you never got complimented. You did, just not… in such a gentle way, especially not while in some stained pjs with hair that looked like you were electrocuted. Ignoring the heat spanning across your cheeks, you picked up the sandwich he had given you and unwrapped it slowly.
You two ate quietly for a while, not in an uncomfortable silence way, but more of an enjoying each other's company way. When you finished your sandwich, he had already eaten two, you giggled, standing up and grabbing the wrappers to toss them. He smiled, watching you as you did so. You ignored his gaze, grabbing Ruby’s food and mimicking her little meows as you shook the bag.
“Ruby Ruby Meow Meow!!” You cooed over and over, pouring the food into her bowl and neatly placing it back in your cupboard. As usual, Ruby came running and immediately began scarfing down the food as if she had never been fed before. You scoffed, and then looked at Victor, who was laughing.
“What’s so funny?” You put your hands on your hips, wings fluttering in a mild display of fake irritation. A smirk crept on your face as you shook your head.
“Dude she came running to your meows, and she is eating like she's starving.” He kept laughing, a hand on his stomach, “Dude this is peak comedy.” He sighed at the end of his laughter, undeterred by your fake anger. He stood, smiling as he stepped closer. “You should really tell me about what you meant by your text last night little angel.” He spoke, his voice now lowered, he leaned against the counter teasing the distance between you but not closing it.
You tried to match his confidence, leaning on the wall behind you, “What about it?”
He chuckled, his chuckle coming out in a steady low grumble, “I’m cuter than you remember? Does that ring any bells?”
You feigned obliviousness, shaking your head and pretending to think about it, finger tapping your chin. “Hmm.. I don’t recall, you must be mixing me up with somebody.” You giggled. Your smirk faltered as he stood up, walking towards you slowly, as if testing the boundary. When you didn’t give an obvious no, he kept coming closer until he was only a few inches from you.
“Well, I hope I’m not mixing you up with anybody.” He whispered, his hand gently brushing your hair from your eyes, his fingers gliding across your cheek. “Because, to be honest. You are the most gorgeous person I have ever met.” He looked across your face, your cheeks flushed and eyes deadset on looking anywhere but his eyes. “I missed our stupid conversations, and I don’t know if it’s just because you’re an angel, but I cannot get you out of my mind. Regardless of the amount of cocaine or bloodlust in my body.” He continued, his thumb resting against your cheek.
Your stomach was doing flips, your cheeks burning and your eyes trying to avoid his hard gaze. You weren’t necessarily uncomfortable, but you didn’t know what to do, your skin felt like every nerve was short circuiting; every small touch was just driving your nervous system further into the abyss. You can tell that deep down, you want this. With that realization, you slowly leaned in, tilting your chin up in a vulnerable display. Giving in, all walls coming down.
With a smirk, he leaned in, his fingers moving to cup your chin as you locked lips, his fangs gently scraping your lips. He didn’t add any heat, or pressure to the kiss, which was a relief for you, the kiss just.. Warming you up. Putting an action to the feeling. The kiss was short, but perfect, minus one of his fangs indenting under your lip, but secretly that didn’t ruin any part of it for you. The confusion set in a bit as you tasted it, definitely vodka on his lips.
You giggled softly half awkwardly-half to diffuse the heat building, pulling away and rubbing where his fang indented your skin. “I didn’t think of that part of it” You looked up at him, hopping on the counter to point at the indent. “Do you see it? I feel it” He moved closer, standing in between your legs, one hand landing beside your thigh on the counter, the other gripping your chin, gentle but firm. He inspected your skin under your lips, chuckling softly. “Sorry about that, love.” He let go of your chin, smiling down at you as he straightened up, his hand retracting from the counter. He stepped back and looked at you, his eyes warm.
You leaned on your cupboard, still too entranced by the indent and his tender touch to hop off the counter. You looked at him, thoughts spinning and spiralling, what was that? Did that mean anything? Did I mess up? What was I thinking? Why did I lean in? Why did he taste of liquor so early in the morning?
“well, ive gotta go. I haven't checked on my stocks and i have a…meeting to get to.” he spoke, clearing his throat and planting a kiss on your forehead before briskly walking out, closing your door behind him with no hesitation or a look at you.
“what the actual fuck?” You shook your head, fluttering your eyes in bewilderment before hopping off the counter. You walked back to your bedroom, grabbing your phone and laying down. You curled up in your bed, blanket pulled up to your chin, your phone in one hand and the other hand feeling the fading indent under your lip. You looked at his messages from this morning with a smirk. You decided to message him, your lips still a bit irritated from his fangs.
How are your stocks bat boy? Thinking of you.
Thinking of you too. Wish I could’ve stayed. Your lips are the softest i’ve felt
You scoffed, sure he was just trying to play you for some reason.
No need to act like I'm special, I remember how many girls you saw on a nightly basis. I know some of the girls that hung around your parties, they were stunning.
You put your phone down, sighing and closing your eyes. Burying yourself under your blanket. With a small coo, Ruby hopped up onto your bed, making biscuits right on your thigh. You smiled, exhaling and relaxing. You opened your phone when you felt it buzz, the light illuminating the small crevice you made in the blanket.
I'm not stupid, I get they're objectively hot. But you drive me crazy. You're insanely hot, your body, wings, eyes, even your voice Y/N.
You contemplated what to say, how to feel about his words. And just decided to ask outlandish shit, if he's the type to avoid things, you could at least ask whatever you want to see where the boundaries were.
and how many did you fuck and tell that? I'm not stupid either
I'd be happy to make it one though.
How many have you fucked after the whole innocent act?
You scoffed, messaging him just as quick as he had.
None here, literally haven't even fucked anyone.
No fucking way, virgin angel? That is such a stereotype.
You’re fucking with me, no way.
You left him on read, groaning and sitting up. You hadn’t actually told anyone about that, most just assumed you were. At least they used to, maybe something about you changed? Regardless you needed to get a little more sleep, so you just curled up, holding Ruby in your arms as you steadied your breaths.
You were half asleep, your body feeling weightless when you heard knocks at your door. You tried to ignore them, Ruby waking up and sitting next to your face, licking her paws and cleaning herself. But the knocks just kept coming, desperate, loud, the most annoying thing you could possibly imagine right now. You stood up annoyed and groaning as you walked to your front door. Ruby followed, her tail straight up as she ran ahead of you with a meow.
The knocking persisted, and you opened the door with a glare, that is, until you saw Victor, his eyes flashing from crimson and pearl, his fur matted and his snout covered in powder.
“Jesus fuck Vic,” You gasped, yanking him inside turning your head side to side to make sure no one saw and slamming the door. “What the fuck, dude are you okay?” You pulled his face down, inspecting his eyes, your own glowing that faint hue that shows itself anytime you are stressed. You pushed him onto your couch, walking into your kitchen to grab a rag and wet it under your sink.
“I had to see you.” He grumbled, and you heard the faint cracking of bones in your living room. You shook your head, twisting the rag to drain it a bit.
“You had to see me? had to?” you state, with more bite than you meant to. As you shook the towel in the sink, you felt a weight on your shoulder, right on your collarbone. When you looked you saw his snout, it still caked in powder. His fangs were longer and his eyes were that crimson color again. without having to look you just knew he had shifted into the other form again. His fangs rested right on your bone, pressing gently on you.
“yes, i had to.” he stated, his voice a deeper tone, a bit more gravelly. He sniffed at your neck, the sensation sending goosebumps down your spine.
“Why is that?” you pull away, turning to face him and wipe the powder off his nose with the rag. you focused on making sure you gently wiped up all of the powder you were sure you didn't need the details on.
“i… I don't know. Instinct maybe.” he huffed, very clearly unable to focus. He let you clean his snout and fur, but was very clearly distracted as you did so. “I can't stop thinking about you.” he groaned, his chest heaving.
“Why?” you sighed, and turned back to rinse the rag and toss it in the sink. When you looked back behind you, all you could see was a gigantic yet pathetic looking bat hybrid.
“I dont know. I dont know Y/N. Can i just stay in your living room for a bit? I can tell I woke you up. You should sleep.”
You looked at him flabbergasted, but sighed “fine, I'm only agreeing because I work at two.” You shook your head, heading into your bedroom. You looked at the time, noting that it was already 11am and set your alarm. you laid in bed, by habit leaving your arm curled for Ruby, but she never came. You slept peacefully, not waking to any of the small noises in your home.
As you slept Victor was sitting on your couch, finally back in his normal form, his sweats torn. He pet Ruby as she made biscuits on his lap. He was completely exhausted, the cocaine completely dropping from his system. His heart rate plummeted, feeling himself come down. He couldn't stop thinking of your kiss, your soft skin, how his fangs felt touching your skin. How your wings shook or fluttered whenever you saw him. How you giggled and weren't frightened or disgusted when his fang left a mark on your skin, daydreaming about if that meant you'd let him leave more.
Admittedly Victor had only thought of commitment once, he definitely thought of how women would look under him, on top of him, in front of him, really any angle, but he did not feel shame about that. It led him to be an experienced man, Harvard kept him smart and full of theories and well formed thoughts, and his tendencies kept him experienced sexually. He was proud of how much he knew about a woman’s body, memorizing how to please each variety of body types he had encountered. All that to say, you weren’t the first of your body type to catch his eye, so he knew it wasn’t proper to tell himself his attraction or curiosity about you was a part of his “research”, but he wished it could just be that. He stayed quiet, curling up on your couch, Ruby laid on his head, and he decided he couldn’t move. He napped, letting the warmth and peace of your home welcome him. He awoke before you, slipping out when he realized it was 1pm, not wanting to burden you any further.
When you awoke, you got ready in your routine, your hair, makeup, skirt, and shirt, all playfully arranged to be ready for extra tips at work. Your whole, innocent angel, extra blush act really worked at the bar. You weren’t happy to work 12 hour shifts but you were ready nonetheless. When you came out of your room, a part of you was disappointed to see Victor had left, not because you needed him to see how cute and put together you looked, but maybe a little part of you wanted the attention. You shook your head, filling the bowl for Ruby, who had been sleeping on the table until she heard the bowl, bolting to it like usual.
You grabbed your house keys and wallet, heading out the door and locking it swiftly. The bar was a short walk away and you liked the walk there plenty enough to appreciate the way the sun shined on you as you walked. Your skirt was cute and short, which meant you frequently had to pull it down, your thighs pulling it up like some sort of magnet. You weren’t completely invisible to the stares you got from the men on the street, your wings intentionally low enough to block your lower half. It wasn’t long before you made it to the bar.
Your shift passed by quickly as it usually does, when you sat on a chair in the alley to scroll on your phone during a break, you allowed yourself to decompress. You watched stupid videos of cats and dogs, before switching to scroll through posts on another platform. Scrolling through the endless posts, reminders of all your former classmates and their various marriages, births, fuck even divorces. Seeing vacations just seemed to be the most peaceful out of all of the above. You giggled when you saw Victor's post from a few minutes ago, he was obviously absolutely wasted in some bar, blabbering about crypto or something. He chose to take the video of himself chattering in the most flattering location, a bathroom stall. He posted video after video of his rants, moving from the bathroom to the party-esque atmosphere behind him and recognized it as one of the bigger clubs in the city next to yours. He was dancing with some demon? She was stunning and like.. ripped. You locked your phone, the familiar pit of jealousy in your stomach arising. You stood, heading back into the bar, sweet talking your regulars and utilizing your wider hips with each lean. You were definitely securing those tips.
By the time it was 1:30 you were just washing dishes in the back, enjoying some music and swaying to it. You were one of two people left, just you and the main bartender. There was only really one patron left and he was usually pretty quiet and left around this time. When you heard the bell ding and laughter you were definitely shocked. Peeking through the slot in the back your stomach sank when you saw him. Victor was here with 3 women, one was the demon in his story, the other two some petite women giggling at the pair, each wrapping their arms around the pair. Victor's arm candy was a stunning woman admittedly, she had that complete model physique. He sat down with her in a booth, unashamed in his wrapping his arm around her. The demon sat opposite the pair, with her own stunning woman sitting with her. You only worked until 2, but when the bartender let out that signature sigh, you knew he was going to ask.
“Y/N can you stay till 3:30?” He groaned, knowing you would say yes regardless. You just nodded, letting your hair come out of the tie and heading out into the public area. You begrudgingly walked up to the booth, putting on the customer service act.
“What drinks can I get you guys tonight?” You said, smiling brightly and fluttering your wings to let out a bit of the tension in your back. Victor could have fooled you completely, his act of no shock seeing you way too good.
“We’ll all have a sex on the beach, thanks doll” And with that, he returned his attention to the woman, her giggling as he whispered in her ear.
“I’d like a lemonade too, if that’s something you guys have” The demon chimed up, her yellow eyes looking at you a bit too intensely.
You nodded, smiling brightly. “Absolutely, I will let the bartender know.” You walked away, your confident walk slightly faltering, not wanting to keep the act up when the women made you feel so insecure. Not to mention Vic acting like he didn’t care even a bit about you. You just gave the bartender, Nick, their orders on paper. You sat atop the barstool, laying your head on the bar. You wanted to just disappear right there, you could hear Victor’s chuckles and the woman’s giggles, and it just made you wish you could be anywhere else. Out of pure comforting instinct, you wrapped your wings around yourself, hiding yourself from the world.
You folded your wings back when you heard Nick place the glasses in front of you on your tray. You stood, taking a deep breath and carrying the tray over, you decided you would put the confidence back on, swaying your hips as you walked over. You made sure to bend over extra deep while placing the drinks in front of everyone.
“Here are thooose,” you cooed, your skirt pulling up as usual, you angled that end towards Victor, placing the drink in front of the Demon. “Here is that lemonade as well, sweetie” you smiled warmly looking around the table, Victor looking up at you with the same warmth as when he had inspected his effect on your face. “Anything else I can do for you guys?” You looked at them, eyes wide and innocent.
“No, that's about all we need, angel.” Victor said, his tone strained. You just nodded, setting the tray on the bar, heading into the back to sit on the counter to kill time. After a while of scrolling, you decided to say fuck it, messaging Victor.
She drive you crazy like I do? She looks like the type you used to go crazy for in college.
You looked through the slot in the wall, watching Victor look at his phone, shaking his head. He typed, texting you back under the table while his arm candy looked at her own phone.
She could never make me go as crazy as you do. But.. we can’t do the things she’d let me do. Take a look at her neck when you get us refills doll.
You sighed, watching him turn his phone off. You whistled at Nick, making the motion for a drink, with pleading eyes. He always got you whatever you wanted since you would always stay late with him, so in no time he left you a glass of the most delicious drink he could craft, walking off with a chuckle. You sipped the drink, watching for when the group would need refills and/or waters.
It took a while, it being 30 mins before close but they did end up finishing their drinks, you hopped off the counter, heading over to grab their glasses. You smiled at the edge of the table, putting the act back on.
“How can I help you guys? Need any water? Refills? We close up shop here in thirty minutes, but I can help you however you need.” You smiled warmly, waiting for the woman next to Victor to notice you.
Victor was the one to speak up, “I think we’ll be going, we’ve had enough fun haven’t we guys?” He smirked, kissing the woman next to him, his hand tilting her chin to expose the left side of her neck, previously facing the wall. You could see the fresh wound, seemingly from his fangs, the bruising already starting but the bleeding seemingly taken care of. He had bit pretty deep from what you could tell.
You just nodded, grabbing their glasses and nodding, but only to the sweet demon, “Have a wonderful night” and you walked back to the back of the bar, setting their glasses and yours in the sink. Your regular had left and now all there was to do was clean. You started at it, the dishes taking your mind off the obvious flirting as the group walked out.
Your shift was over before you knew it, and in typical fashion you were home before you knew it. The anger riding low in your emotions but still bubbling in your body. After a quick sandwich you headed straight to bed, Ruby being your only interaction with the world as you dozed off in your bed. She let you hold her like a stuffed animal as you slept, the previous day finally fading into darkness.
A/N: I love how much longer this one came out I put so much love into this one side note which bat species do we think vic is?
