me: actually the hatred of emo is rooted in sexism and society’s hatred of anything considered feminine. Society hates emo girls cause they hate anything a mass amount of teenage girls are interested in yet praise teenage boy interests that are basically the same. They hate emo boys because they view them as overly feminine because of the expression of emotion and dressing “unmanly.” They hate the large LGBT community within the emo genre. They hate emo music because it’s either guys being “too sad” or girls being “too angry”. They’re afraid of teenagers actually expressing that they’re unhappy.
