ELEMENT BRACKET MASTERPOST
above are the two brackets for the elemental tournament. as you can see, they are not both completely full. this is because there are only 118 known elements. so this is how it’s gonna work.
the order of these elements was determined through use of a random number generator. after the first round is complete, the winners will be put into order in that same way, and filled back into one bracket, along with the five closest runners-up, (e.g. any perfect ties, then any which had 49.9% of the vote, then 49.8%, etc.) bringing us to a total of 64 elements. if it doesn't work out perfectly into 5 slots, i'll just use another rng to decide who moves on.
elements will be put into a random order after every round of voting in order to minimize the statistical errors inherent in a “march madness” style bracket. yes i know it’s still an inaccurate system. no i don’t care. this is the easiest way to do it, at least for now.
that said, if you have an idea for a better way to do it while still utilizing the tumblr poll systems, my ask box is open, and i’m all ears.
