I was re-reading The Death Cure and something just hit me. When they were trying to find their way out of the WICKED Complex, and Newt already showing signs of the Flare. There is a sequince where he goes back to the reception. Guys, what stuff can you find at an reception desk???

Newt wrote his goodbye letter then, in the midst of chaos because he knew he didn't have long. He knew he was already losing his mind. He gave Thomas the letter in the midst of escaping. He was already saying goodbye without anyone noticing/realising...

I can't believe I never noticed that before? I guess that's the perks of reading a book multiple times. Like, it didn't affect me this much the first time I read it. The insane foreshadowing. Damn ain't feeling well right now-
