We appreciate your well wishes and the sentiment behind you thoughts. However, this was answered yesterday in the two asks I chose to answer in an effort to tie up any loose ends. Our askbox has now been disabled. Thank you for your ideas, I am sure the Captain will consider them if she comes back to the blog.

I'm really glad you guys aren't planning to pass on the reins (because I agree with the previous anon, you guys are amazing and you've done a wonderful job making this place welcoming) but I was just wondering if you might ever consider taking on another crewmember to help you guys out?

That is certainly nice to hear. Unfortunately that openness earned it’s fair bit of censure by the some members of the twd tumblr community. But we are pleased to know we stuck to our guns and attempted to provide a welcoming and opening atmosphere for all. 

This was suggested to the captain by myself, however the Captain’s real life concerns are at a point where she has mostly had to unplug from tumblr completely and unfortunately that is not how she likes to run her ship. I understand that the blog is missed and sympathize. Hopefully the future year will change the circumstances around the Captain’s ability to run the blog with it.

Hopefully, but again that is ultimately up to her.

Not sure if you'll be checking here or not but I truly hope you don't pass the reins to others. That may sound selfish but this fandom is so cliquey and you guys have always been open and welcoming to all. I would genuinely be concerned that this blog would fall into the wrong hands. Sanja is the only one I would be confident would welcome all the way you have. But I hope you will keep the blog your own and if you come back great, if not the spirit and essence of this blog lives on untainted. ❤️

Thank you anon, we appreciate your kind words. At this point the Captain has no plans to pass on the reins. When she started this blog originally it was her baby and she put a lot of time and effort into and understandably is weary of passing on the legacy. There is always the chance that she will come back to it, so there is that to keep in mind. Ultimately it is the Captain’s decision to make.

 In the meantime our fandom is populated by so many awesome Caryl blogs and individuals I know we aren’t starved for Caryl goodness while they are on watch.

Attention Passengers...

It is with great sadness I must announce an indefinite hiatus of the USS Caryl. The lives of those of us who run this blog have reached a point where we are no longer able to give it the attention we once were able to provide. Because it has been our home for so long, we are unsure as to what steps to take next, especially if we are able to step back up to the wheel once more.

Please know, however, it has nothing to do with the show itself. I personally still hold to the faith of eventual canon and still enjoy the show as I’m able to (usually belatedly) watch it. My heart will always sail with my ship, passengers, and crew. Hopefully, things will change so that I can return. I’ve missed our community dearly, but real life demands my full attention.

Thank you for all the messages of love and support. They have meant the world to us as we’ve come to this heavy decision.

Caryl on, my darlings. We’re still here with you in spirit.

Caryl Headcanon OR “What I would like to see”

The scene opens on Carol’s face in bed, like from the above angle, but closer in on her face. She is sweaty and flushed, breathing heavily. The camera angle slowly pans out to where we can see the blankets. Then we see Daryl’s head come up from underneath the blankets in the bottom of the screen, and he is licking and sucking his fingers, as he is prone to do…

I was looking closely at the hug again, and hey, here’s two more things I wanted to mention:

1. After stroking her hair, he grips her even tighter.

This scene is burned into my memory. It’s one of exactly three times I’ve cried watching this series. Not even Glenn’s “death” scene made me cry (he’s so not dead). I cried when Sophia died and she was revealed at the barn, I cried during the Grove, and I cried for this scene. That’s it. You can’t get emotional over characters on this series but these two just fucking grabbed my heart and won’t let go. I will never be over this. And I can’t wait til Daryl gets home to Alexandria and finds Carol, because there’s no fucking way he wasn’t think of her when he saw that sign that said “A NEW START.” “Starting over” - exactly what he and Carol said to each other they would do, START OVER. WITH EACH OTHER.

I adore Melissa. She’s one of my favourite actors on the show. She’s such a good actress and she has so much inside that she can just open her eyes and stare at you and listen and so much stuff comes out of her. I’ve been very fortunate in the fact that I’ve had a lot of scenes with Melissa – private scenes. It’s just the luck of the draw, I think. Both our characters are similar – they’re damaged people gravitating towards damaged people – but I love Melissa. She’s one of my dearest friends and she’s just awesome to watch. She’s really magnificent.
