I feel like not enough people talk about the fact that it’s heavily implied America is physically attracted to England as shown in that Hetaween strip with the purposefully chosen Robin costume
What was going through his mind when that idea struck him and he was trying to look for costumes in their sizes?? Telling him to show off to everyone around the world, too? What a fucking idea I swear
America is So attracted to England it makes him kinda sick and the only way he can let himself express it is through jokes. Like the very early manga panel where he tells England he wants him to dress in a hula skirt and sway his hips provocatively in-between mouthfuls of burger so England can't understand him. Or like you said the damn Halloween event where Hima says that even if England wasn't his first follower on twitter (which aw that's also cute) America would have found another excuse to get England in the Robin costume. I think it's also cute that Halloween is their thing and America used it to get him into a costume that shows off all of his legs. I will say, both of these instances off the top of my head while both masked as jokes like I said, I do wonder if a part of America also gets off on embarrassing England or if it is just a way to cover the attraction hmmmm
Or also in Gangsta (sorry you know I love it) when Lord was about to be forced to strip by someone else, Hero steps in and pays 1000 cost to stop it at the last second. Which is interesting when you compare it to the actions they have in canon. However, I think it's the exact same scenario, but because Hero wasn't the one embarrassing him he didn't like it. Because Lemoto was the one who was going to force him to strip in front of everyone, Hero says he stopped it because he supposedly doesn't want someone in the big five to do something so embarrassing, which Lord accepts but still doubts that to be the true reason.
Anyways tldr America is sososo attracted to England but he would rather die than express it like a normal person so he either has to make a joke or humiliate him, but also nobody else is allowed to do that but him
